I posted about these about a month ago. Fast forward a month and it has grown exponentially. They are still going strong. I just look slightly more homeless than before.
Surprisingly they have gotten more comfortable.

It fell from my balcony and broke clean apart at this seam
Polypropylene so no adhesives were gonna work. Apparently the metallic flakes makes the plastic weaker
Anyway I drilled a few holes and bent a few wall staples!

I find the embroidery floss with a gradient much easier to create sweet patterns with.

My younger brother who lives halfway cross the country just told me he is getting into visible mending. So far he’s been using a sewing kit he got at the grocery store. And I want to do better than that. So I am looking to make him a hand sewing kit with an emphasis on mending.
So am coming here for advice. I know a few things about it but am frankly a newbie myself. I could just start buying him stuff but I thought I would ask the group.
He doesn’t have room for a sewing machine in his condo and I don’t want to overwhelm him so, what are the high-quality, compact essentials to get started? Does anyone just make such a kit I can buy?
Also looking for beginner friendly, comprehensive books on the subject!
TIA

I'm not sure how to feel about this. The rip was small but pretty bad, from being caught on a zipper after I accidentally put them in a wash, tuffs were sticking out from the rip. I paid $40, I knew it wasn't gonna be invisible, but never had this issue before.

80% wool, 20% nylon
My puppy got into my brand new $$ wool cardigan sweater and chewed through the end of one sleeve. What’s the best method of going about getting this repaired/mended. I’m totally open to having it not look original, and for it to be a different.
Thanks

My cool linen pants got caught in my bike gears and tore. I'm pretty new to mending, so could someone recommend a method for this?

How would you go about covering this in some way that adds a solution to holes (water in) and also makes it aesthetically pleasing? I'd like maybe lavender, another shade of blue, grayish/blue like the logo, or other suggestions.
Any materials, methods, and colors you recommend?

How do I mend these? Seems too sturdy for a needle and too rigid to overlap again and put glue

Hey it's ugly but that's my crotch so who's lookin'?! Slightly classier than the alternative of pale thigh skin.
Had two of the same pair but the other one is extremely tattered at the cuffs so I cut off a square from those and I'll turn them into shorts or capris when I get a sewing machine. I want to get into this hobby for real when I escape my constant half asleep state soneday. My other damaged linen pants are patterned with pocket damage or white and intact so far but a pen exploded all over them. Alas i don't have the energy to think of how to fix them. Also have multiple holey cashmere sweaters that are ripe for actual cute visible mending instrad of chaos. Keep meaning to buy one of those looms to do the woven patch. I've got a tiny crochet hook somewhere too. Idk it's a lot and I an sleepy

New to this. Most of the people I know and are in my community don't wear mended clothing (I know, I know, I need to get out more and make cooler friends). Was just wondering how people have reacted when they see you or your loved ones wear mended clothing.
(My second mend for the algo!)

My cardigan developed a couple of holes so I embroidered bugs over them. Initially I wanted to do ants all the way up the arm like a line of them but I had to make them massive to cover the holes, and the fabric was hard to work with so they look like spiders or beetles. But I'm happy I can wear it again!

Is there a way to mend this zipper? It seems like polyester. I am tempted to rip out the zipper because it's going to tear with regular use. Not sure there is something that can reattach the jacket and zipper.

Dear professionals of reddit ,
Ive got a hole from a tear on the ankle of my jeans due to my love for cycling (not anymore because my bicycle got stolen) and just left it there for a year.
This has been my fav pair of jeans, 4 years old, from india, everything about it is just perfect.
History of it:
Ive had 2 crashes wearing it so some scuffs.
Washed it by hand twice (maybe a bit too hard) so its turning light blue (which i love).
Some writings when i thought its life was over and time to bin it (but i never let it go so the writings stayed since) (image 4)
Im asking advice on how to fix the hole (either a patch of something relatable to me or fixing it properly with jeans or should i just slap leather and stitch it)(image 1), and potentially remove the writings (it was a pen).
(Ps: potentially i want to add pockets inside the knee and bums so i can add armour and make it into my motorcycle jeans,
Ive got little experience sowing so shouldn't be too hard (from the army)
Sorry mods if this isnt the right place.

I plan to do a bold visible stitch to close this, but am wondering if I should also add some sort of glue or stabilizer to ensure the slit stays closed or doesn’t end up messy through washes.
Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Spilled Indian ink all over my favourite jeans :(
I don't really want to add any bulk, I'm just wondering what kind of a pattern could I do on these that would implement the black stain, keeping in roughly the same style as the embroidery that's already there. Open to expanding the stain to make it more intentional looking

My favourite summer skirt had a stain near the hem I couldn't get out, so I embroidered a cheery little strawberry over it. Now it's my double-favourite skirt :)

hoping for some guidance on the best beginner-friendly way to repair this jacket. i'm not familiar with textile crafts but am crafty in other ways and am willing to take on a project! i think i'd prefer to avoid iron-on patches fwiw. any other recommendations or resources are very welcome!
pics may not be super clear, but there's a large tear on the outside of the pocket. there's also wear on the sleeve that i'd like to prevent from getting worse.

I forgot to take pictures beforehand, sorry. This hoodie had some tiny bleach stains on the front pocket. Yesterday I bought two textile markers to give it a second life. Searched “easy page filler” on IG for inspiration and this is the result. Not perfect but good enough for me and I thought it could be useful to share it here, as I’m always lurking the sub.

This is a tear in heavy canvas. It’s the rag top roof of my 79 superbeetle. Should I put a patch on the back of it and try to darn it in the front. What ever I do I should get thread that’s fade proof . Any help appreciated

Any suggestions for visible mending it? I’m a bit stumped.
