Goodwill cashmere rescue mend
I find the embroidery floss with a gradient much easier to create sweet patterns with.

I'm not sure how to feel about this. The rip was small but pretty bad, from being caught on a zipper after I accidentally put them in a wash, tuffs were sticking out from the rip. I paid $40, I knew it wasn't gonna be invisible, but never had this issue before.

New to this. Most of the people I know and are in my community don't wear mended clothing (I know, I know, I need to get out more and make cooler friends). Was just wondering how people have reacted when they see you or your loved ones wear mended clothing.
(My second mend for the algo!)

My cardigan developed a couple of holes so I embroidered bugs over them. Initially I wanted to do ants all the way up the arm like a line of them but I had to make them massive to cover the holes, and the fabric was hard to work with so they look like spiders or beetles. But I'm happy I can wear it again!

Is there a way to mend this zipper? It seems like polyester. I am tempted to rip out the zipper because it's going to tear with regular use. Not sure there is something that can reattach the jacket and zipper.

Dear professionals of reddit ,
Ive got a hole from a tear on the ankle of my jeans due to my love for cycling (not anymore because my bicycle got stolen) and just left it there for a year.
This has been my fav pair of jeans, 4 years old, from india, everything about it is just perfect.
History of it:
Ive had 2 crashes wearing it so some scuffs.
Washed it by hand twice (maybe a bit too hard) so its turning light blue (which i love).
Some writings when i thought its life was over and time to bin it (but i never let it go so the writings stayed since) (image 4)
Im asking advice on how to fix the hole (either a patch of something relatable to me or fixing it properly with jeans or should i just slap leather and stitch it)(image 1), and potentially remove the writings (it was a pen).
(Ps: potentially i want to add pockets inside the knee and bums so i can add armour and make it into my motorcycle jeans,
Ive got little experience sowing so shouldn't be too hard (from the army)
Sorry mods if this isnt the right place.

I plan to do a bold visible stitch to close this, but am wondering if I should also add some sort of glue or stabilizer to ensure the slit stays closed or doesn’t end up messy through washes.
Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Spilled Indian ink all over my favourite jeans :(
I don't really want to add any bulk, I'm just wondering what kind of a pattern could I do on these that would implement the black stain, keeping in roughly the same style as the embroidery that's already there. Open to expanding the stain to make it more intentional looking

My favourite summer skirt had a stain near the hem I couldn't get out, so I embroidered a cheery little strawberry over it. Now it's my double-favourite skirt :)

hoping for some guidance on the best beginner-friendly way to repair this jacket. i'm not familiar with textile crafts but am crafty in other ways and am willing to take on a project! i think i'd prefer to avoid iron-on patches fwiw. any other recommendations or resources are very welcome!
pics may not be super clear, but there's a large tear on the outside of the pocket. there's also wear on the sleeve that i'd like to prevent from getting worse.

I forgot to take pictures beforehand, sorry. This hoodie had some tiny bleach stains on the front pocket. Yesterday I bought two textile markers to give it a second life. Searched “easy page filler” on IG for inspiration and this is the result. Not perfect but good enough for me and I thought it could be useful to share it here, as I’m always lurking the sub.

This is a tear in heavy canvas. It’s the rag top roof of my 79 superbeetle. Should I put a patch on the back of it and try to darn it in the front. What ever I do I should get thread that’s fade proof . Any help appreciated

Any suggestions for visible mending it? I’m a bit stumped.

Added this confetti design, and the cat, to a stained sweater so my Mom could keep wearing this hoodie to teach art classes without repeatedly being told she had paint on her sweater.
I made 2 different sized circle templates and used wash away pens to mark where I wanted them. Then painted them on with fabric paint. Iron after to lock it all in. (Idk if that step is necessary but I did it cause that's what the videos I watched said to do)

I was watching The Incomer while doing this and I took offense when the Domhnall Gleeson character tells the island dweller that her clothes are in rags, when really she just has a couple of patches on her skirt.

Would anyone have suggestions for how I can mend these holes that have shown up in this throw blanket? They are about 1 inch. Pics are the front and back of the blanket. Thank you for any guidance!

Thanks to you guys, I finally mend my fav jackets 🥰. I like it more since it has some "uniqueness" in it. Not gonna lie. I'm kind of proud to myself because turn out I can handsew (even tho it's kinda messy).

Extremely new to visible mending. These clogs are among the few things I can wear due to bone spurs. It seemed to cut on the seam. Any suggestions on how to address this? Thank you for sharing your expertise :)

These which I am wearing as I post this are 20 odd or more years old and were second hand when I bought them i am curmugeonly thinking Iv'sspent that much effort keeping them wearable im not giving up now though after each wash they need some kind of attention in many places it is more spare part surgery than patching and one leg has become about 1 cm longer than the other Crotches are damnably awkuard

Hello!
I thrifted these jeans for $7, took them home, and discovered tears on the back calves. They might have been deliberate, but I decided this would be the perfect opportunity for me to practice my first-ever visible mend!
I had a pair of trashed denim shorts I cut up for inside patches. I sewed one patch on by using back-stitching. The other patch was my first use of a darning loom. It looks more like a net than a true darn, but I’m pretty happy with it.
The embroidery along the seams is not only uneven, but the little black rhinestones are falling off. I discovered my black nail polish is a lot better at staying put, even after a wash (hung dry, definitely).
Thanks for reading!

Hello! I’ve needed to repair a huge tear in the seat of an armchair since like 2011. Decided enough was enough this weekend, no more overthinking it, done is better than perfect… and now, halfway into a MASSIVE darn, obviously I’m overthinking it haha.
I’ve used standard embroidery floss before with good success, but I had a bunch of DMC Retors Mat (soft cotton) that I liked the colors of, so I used that instead… may or may not have been a thoughtless stoned decision lol
Before I get any further into this potentially doomed project: does anyone know if Retors Mat will hold up in a darn?
I don’t care at all if it pills or looks fuzzy as this chair is ancient and probably destined for a future full reupholstering. I’m just hoping to get a few years out of it so I can pick new fabric once it’s in its forever home. Would hate to do all this work only for the darn to disintegrate under tension though, and if I’m pulling it out to start over with different thread, this is the time to do it (before I start weaving lol).
