I wanted to see exactly how the bass comes back in around a kick, so I've been
working on Kick Air, a free sidechain ducking plugin for Windows and macOS.
It shows the external kick in red and the processed bass in blue on the same
timeline. You can move and edit the ducking curve, change the amount with Depth,
and adjust the return with Flow.
Audio mode responds to actual sidechain hits, including irregular rhythms. The
note division controls how long the response lasts. When the kick stops, the bass
returns to full level instead of continuing to pulse. It also has host BPM sync,
manual tempo and optional low-band ducking.

- Windows 10/11: 64-bit VST3 installer.
- macOS 11+: universal AU and VST3 for Apple Silicon and Intel.
- No account, activation or time limit.
This is a beta. The installers are unsigned and the Mac package is not notarized.
macOS has passed native plugin validation. The Windows build has passed runtime,
GUI and installer checks through Wine, but I still need feedback from real
Windows DAW setups because i cannot even test it, got only macbook.
If you try it, please share your DAW version, OS and plugin format. I'm especially
interested in sidechain routing, clicks, project recall and GUI scaling. Bug
reports and successful compatibility reports can go in GitHub Issues.
If you'd like to support development, you can buy me a coffee:
