Anyone who’s read 4 courses parallell to each other? How was it?

• Upvotes

Hi! I’m doing an introductory year, that’s made to prepare people who don’t come directly from highschool for STEM programs, before I begin my STEM program.

There’s just so many fun courses to read. Arts, IT, language, extra physics and maths, etc… Now that I’m at uni I want to take the chance to actually learn all these things 🙂

Right now I’m reading the obligatory courses and work 15-20h a week at a part time job. The obligatory courses are 3 courses which is read simultaneously. When I begin my engineering studies I’ll read 2 courses simultaneously.

I’m thinking of trying 4 courses next semester, and maybe keep that up all throughout my studies.

Anyone who has experience doing this, maybe as well as having a part time job? How was/is it?

Uni title or course?

I’m currently predicted A*AB and am stuck between picking a prestigious university but doing something like sociology or history (subjects which I do love) which wouldn’t be as sustainable degree wise. Or I could do something more sustainable like law but at a lower end university as you’d need better grades for the more prestigious ones. What would your first instinct be?

Is CS major still worth it ?

Hello everyone 👋 . I am a highschool senior from the central asia, who is planning on applying for either ai or cs major. Is the CS major still worth it or should I solely focus on Ai because while it creates a new opportunities, it also replaces several jobs, so I'm concerned abt my future career

thinking of quitting engineering

Hi everyone,

I'm in my first semester of aerospace engineering and I am seriously considering quitting. When people ask me if I love it so far, I always hesitate. It's not that I hate it, it feels more like I'm doing it because I have to. I'm not excited to go to school per se and I'm not super hooked on thermodynamics or statics for instance.

It's also not that I'm doing bad, I'm doing fine so far. However, I am afraid of staying in the program and becoming trapped into doing something I am not passionate about. I have always dreamed of working for big agencies like NASA, but it's hitting me that this probably won't be my reality. I guess engineering feels very different from what I thought it would be. At the same time, I am afraid of dropping out to pursue another career and then regretting.

Everyone sees me as someone who is passionate about space exploration (which truly fascinates me) but I don't know if the engineering job itself is for me and it feels like I don't know who I really am anymore or what I want to do.

I guess what I want to ask is if you guys knew you liked what you were doing as early as the first semester or not. And, if anyone has been a similar situation, what did you do and did you end up regretting your decision?

Universities should ensure their online resources are actually usable

So, hello, I'm a first year engineering students, and one thing I quickly learned, even before learning any content, was to trust if my university's website will be working today or not, so my university puts all their resources on their website, and expects us to do their assignments, except, that website is having errors, technical issues or busy servers half the time. One time I woke up at 5am to do an assignment due that day, and then the website was having errors and busy servers, I was getting very stressed, worried and upset because it is entirely not my fault that their website is having issues, and it's not the first time this has happened, it has happened a lot on multiple instances, so universities love putting flashy banners saying they have online resources and modern equipment, but should put more focus on making sure those resources and equipment stay usable.

Balancing Academic Pressure, Social Life, and Finances as an International Student

I wanted to ask for advice about something I’ve been struggling with as an international university student. I find it really difficult to balance my social life, my finances, and my studies.
When I focus too much on studying, I feel like I’m missing out on life. My friends keep going out, making memories, and meeting new people, while I stay home studying. I get FOMO, and I worry that I’m missing opportunities to make new friends and enjoy my university years.
But when I choose to go out and socialise, I feel guilty because I know I should be studying. I see my classmates succeeding academically, and I start comparing myself to them. I feel stupid when I struggle, and I’m scared of failing my exams.
On top of that, I have to be careful with my spending because I’m an international student living on a limited budget. Going out costs money, so even when I want to socialise, I have to think about whether I can afford it.
It feels like whatever I choose, I’m sacrificing something else. Either I focus on my studies and feel lonely and left out, or I enjoy my social life and feel anxious about my grades and my future.
I don’t want to spend my university years constantly stressed, feeling guilty, or comparing myself to other people. I want to find a healthier balance, but I don’t know how to do that without feeling like I’m falling behind in one area of my life. How can I manage these competing priorities without feeling guilty or inadequate all the time?

Best apps for recording lectures and generating AI summaries tests etc.

Hi! I'm looking for an app that can record the audio of entire university lectures, both in person and via livestream, using either my phone or PC.

Ideally, it would also use AI to turn the recordings into summaries, notes, flashcards, quizzes, and practice tests.

I have seen people use it on social media and figured I would give it a try. I started a bachelor degree in CS a few weeks ago.

Does anyone have recommendations for apps that do this well, preferably in one place? Thanks!

Also if these apps aren't any good based on your own experience let me know!

Stressed out about everything

As the title suggests that is how i´m feeling. I am a second year undergrad student in political science. And honestly I have never felt so demotivated in my entire life.

This semester I am taking 3 classes, 2 of them I mandatory (one that everyone has which is mandatory and the other was something I chose since I needed to have 30 creds in total so 15 on that one and other on that, while the last one is 7,5 so im taking 7,5 more than I need to, but that one is something I enjoy and it only has a term assignment to write).

The class that I chose with the 15 creds is actually a masters degree one, or at least higher level, so in this class we need to have 4 presentations which btw none of them are graded, and a final assignment which is 6000-8000 words long. And since I have only done assignments before between 2000-4000 words it feels like it's impossible to even write. I have already tried 2 topics: finding literature, data, etc but none of them have worked since it's either impossible to find enough evidence, literature and a gap. The problem with that is that I need to present a term paper outline as my last presentation, and since none of the topics I have wanted to write worked it feels dreadful and I am very lost - to the point where I have cried every night. Also the professor does not even like me as well, because she has been directly rude towards me. So tomorrow I have a meeting with her but I´m kind of dreading it, since I don't know what she will say or do.

Only because of this class I feel so drained and lost, where I just don´t even feel happy to go to uni at all, I also don't have any friends so that also adds to the pot.

Does anyone here have tips on how to cope with all of this mess before it eventually takes over me completely, thank you beforehand <3
