The amount of people I see coughing/sneezing directly into their hands or even the open air in class is absurdšµāš« like why not use your elbow ?? Itās way more hygienic and considerate of others!

Has anyone taken STAT 309 before? Iām wondering what the midterms are like in terms of difficulty and question format. Are they mostly conceptual questions or calculations? Also, how would you recommend preparing for them?

Does anyone have a recording of the counter protester asking Crowley the question about Israel when he started speaking on library mall? I was too far back in the crowd, but I'm doing a project on political disagreement on campus and want to reference it.

Just found a 1b1b housing near the engineering buildings for a little less than 1100 per month with electricity not included. Is it a good price? Should I sign it?

I heard that the course has changed this semester and that the workload has increased significantly. Is that true, and if so, how bad is it? I was thinking about taking it for my biology elective credits, but if itās a lot more work now, Iād probably rather take something else.

Hi!
I currently have plans to graduate Winter 2028 and was wondering how finding housing for just that fall semester went for people who currently doing it. When did you have to start that search, where to search, and would it be a good idea to dorm/become a house fellow for that semester?

Hey everyone, I think I have lost my wallet during my ART100 class today (Monday) at 1:20 PM in Conrad A. Elvehjem Building, Room L160.
I was sitting in the back-left section of the classroom.
Has anyone happened to find a wallet or seen one turned in? If so, please DM me!
Thanks so much!

Hi all, I draw illustrations of closed college-town hangouts: the booth, the sign, the street out front. I'd like to do that for Madison, and I need the people who were there to tell me what to draw. I haven't drawn anything for Madison yet, and nothing here is for sale.
A few I've started with (years are from news and local history, so correct me if I'm off):
What would help most:
What did I miss?
Full disclosure: this is my small business, Lost Hangouts. I turn these places into tribute t-shirts, but that's the last step. First I want the drawings and the memories right. No links here. If a mod thinks this belongs in a different thread, I'm happy to move it.

Is it just me, or is the grading structure in this class a bit unusual? I've never taken a class where the only graded components were quizzes and exams, with ungraded homework and no participation points or projects.
I've been having a tough time preparing for the quizzes because there aren't many supplemental practice problems, and the homework doesn't seem to fill that gap. I understand the rationale behind focusing on exams and quizzes, but given the quiz averages so far, I'm concerned that the overall grades in the class might end up being quite low.
I think Prof. Zhu does a good job explaining the underlying concepts and connecting the material, but it's difficult to develop problem-solving skills through slides and textbook readings alone.
Does anyone have recommendations for additional practice problems or other resources to prepare for the quizzes, beyond participating in Canvas discussions?

Does anyone have any apartment recommendations that arenāt insanely overpriced. Literally everything is so expensive or insanely far from campus. Iām looking for like 3 or more bedrooms

Hi everyone! I'm a Computer Science student at UW-Madison, and for one of my classes I need to do an informational interview with someone working in the tech industry.
It would be a casual 15ā20 minute video or audio call on the platform of your choice and at a time that fits your schedule! The only catch is that I need to complete it by this Wednesday, October 21.
Any role in the tech industry works as I'm doing this for a class.
If you're open to it, please comment or send me a DM. Thanks so much for your time!

Looking to tailgate on Saturday before the USC game. In skiing terms...
I am double black diamond at Miller Park tailgating...probably a hard blue at Lambeau but I am bunnyhill at Wisconsin.
It's important that I have access to my tailgate, can grill and host 10-15 people.
What are your favorite locations? Thanks!

Hi! I'm a junior at UW-Madison and I am looking for someone to sublease my room + private bathroom with two closets at the Rive next semester (girls only please!). It is fully furnished and has in-unit laundry and great amenities like a gym, sauna, rooftop pool and is in a great, central location near UW-Madison campus.Ā
We are super open to negotiating rent and all of my roommates are also looking for subletters too, so there is space if you are a group! Please comment or reply if you're interested!

For next semester, I was planning on taking chem 345, chem 344 genetics 466 and maybe zoology 520?
I know the chem lab by itself is a lot of work, and genetics is also difficult, so I was wondering if anyone has any idea what the workload for this would be
r/UWMadison • u/NeitherPresent9191 • 2d ago
Does anyone have experience emailing chem 345 professors about being sick for an exam? I have been feeling terrible the last few days and itās only gotten worse but I have an exam Monday for chem 345. I feel like Iām not even a bit prepared because I have had a hard time studying in this condition and feel like taking an exam in this condition would not be great. I am planning to email but do they typically allow you to make up the exam? or are they just going to tell me to tough it out.

Hi, Iām looking to build some new connections here at UWāMadison! I figure itās about time I start bonding with people since I want to be able to share memories with the friends I make along the way. And yes, maybe Reddit isnāt the best place to start but Iāll test my chances.
Some facts about me:
- Female, sophomore, pre-business
- Definitely an introvert at first, but if we get closer, my extrovert side may show
- Iām an anime + k/j/c drama enjoyer & Iām sorry for putting it here to anyone who finds it corny! š
- Love love food
- Eldest child
Mainly looking for someone who (not required):
- Has similar interests as me
- I can study with
- I can go to the gym with (I need someone who can teach me how to use gym equipment/form and you know, discipline and motivate each other)
- Has sense of humor
- Is willing to try out food around here
- Explore campus and downtown
You do not have to meet everything on the list. I also have no preference if youāre a male or female, nor what year you are (preferably an undergrad).
I honestly just want a reason to go out, but it just sucks without having a person who you can hangout with iykyk. Please reach out to me or comment here if you are interested! Iām much more of a person who likes to keep their circle small/genuine so point is, I really donāt want to build some half-assed relationship and if that is mutual then maybe itās right for you! This could potentially form a friend group if I have enough people interested :)

I feel so out of place here. I struggle with depression and anxiety, lately my loneliness has made me feel really hopeless. Ive been having intrusive thoughts about hurting myself or dying. I just feel alone, I haven't made any real connections here. I'm a freshman and this place is a decent distance from my home. It's completely different from where I've grown up and spent my whole life. I just want to create a real connection and stop wanting to die.
