Admissions/Application Question MyCarolina Portal acting weird

in mycarolina, it lets me edit and see my assured enrollment program preference and the supplemental essay for it. when i look at the supplemental essay, it has been removed of all the paragraph breaks. it is essentially one big paragraph, rather than a structured piece of writing with multiple paragraphs, like i wrote in the commonapp.

What do i do? do i add paragraph breaks back, or no?

i dont have a case worker assigned so i just emailed my academic advisor but what else can i do?

if you're wondering why i didn't catch this sooner, i didn't know the priority date was the 19th so no cmnts about why i didnt realize sooner

Schedule Bio + educ major spring 2027 advice

Hi! What are some thoughts on this schedule? I appreciate any advice!

Option 1: Chem 241, Chem 102L, Bio 252 + Bio 252 L, EDUC 501, EDUC 403, HNRS 201 (15 credits) + STOR 155 or a Focus Capacity

Option 2: Chem 241, Chem 102L, Bio 240, EDUC 501, EDUC 403, HNRS 201 (13 credits) + STOR 155 or a Focus Capacity

My hesitation with Bio 240 is that the professors do not have the best reviews. Also taking 252 lab and 102 lab together may be a lot.

Question BIOL 105L

Hi! For those who have taken BIOL 105L, could you share what the workload is like and what types of assignments you had? Is the course very demanding, or is it manageable alongside a STEM course like Analytical Chemistry with lab? I’d really appreciate any advice. Thank you!

Question Spring Semester Schedule

Is this a manageable schedule for the spring semester? I’d appreciate any advice or recommendations!

CHEM 241: Lecture + Lab (pre-health prerequisite)

BIOL 105L: Communication Beyond Carolina requirement

PSYC 230: Cognitive Psychology (psychology major requirement)

PSYC 220: Biopsychology (psychology major requirement)

I’m especially wondering about the overall workload and whether taking these courses together would be manageable. Thanks!

Admissions/Application Question Additional Info

I just submitted UNC and while reviewing my application afterward, I realized that I accidentally submitted an older version of a paragraph in my Additional Information section instead of my finalized version.

For context, I was explaining how my caregiving responsibilities affected my academics and why I took 8 AP classes during my junior year.

Here’s what I actually submitted:
“When registering for 11th grade classes during 10th grade, I took 8 APs to recover from my tanked GPA due to the situation described earlier, since I thought my caregiving responsibilities would end, so I would be able to dedicate my full attention to school.
However, by the time my father had to get a revision surgery, my classes already started for 11th grade and it was incredibly difficult to get my schedule to be accommodated towards my situation since my counselor left at the beginning of the school year, so I had no help regarding my academic load.”

Here’s what I intended to submit
“When registering for classes my junior year, I took 8 APs in order to prove my academic potential, especially because I believed I had fallen short in the previous year due to the caretaking responsibilities mentioned above. I had thought that since my caregiving responsibilities were coming to an end, I would be able to dedicate my full attention to school. However, by the time I had learned my father would need revision surgery, my classes had already started for 11th grade, and it was difficult to get accommodations and resources to assist with my schedule, especially with my established school counselor leaving at the start of the school year.”

I know both versions communicate essentially the same circumstances, but I’m particularly worried about how phrases like “tanked GPA” and “I had no help” might come across to admissions officers. I also think me not referencing “academic potential” and similar things was bad.

Do you think the difference is significant enough to affect my application? Should I email UNC to request a correction?

Admissions/Application Question will it hurt me not submitting the optional resume?

Yes, I know this is a stupid question because the word optional is in the name lol...but quite a few of my friends submitted theirs. I didn't submit mine because I didn't think it would add anything of value and just restate what I had but...now im kinda worried idk

Other i dropped out

it was nice knowing y’all boys, but this was a decision that had to be made

literally a senior with 1 semester before graduation, but i just feel like i need to chase my dreams

1 decision can literally change the trajectory of your life, and i just want to go for it

im okay with failing and coming back to finish school

i’m not okay with never finding out what would’ve happened if i risked it for the biscuit

so long… for now at least

Question Looking for any CS students at UNC interested in journal website management/ojs hosting

Hi everyone, I'm the co-coo for a youth journal. I wanted to ask yall if there were any web devs who are interested in managing/expanding our journal website. It is a relatively low time commitment, however if you want to expand projects that is completely fine as well. This is not an advertisement, we are genuinely severely short-staffed on web devs right now and we would love to work with yall.

Question Radiography Certificate

Hi! I am thinking about pursuing the Radiography Certificate Program, and I was wondering if anyone had any insight/advice about the program. I am working full time while completing the prerequisites ( know I will not be able to do this once I am in the program!), and am wondering how it compares to Wake Tech's Radiography program. I am currently enrolled at Wake Tech. Any advice/personal experiences are much appreciated thank you! 😊

Question Class advice

I was wondering if there were people to talk to about really specific class/ career advice. I know we have the career center but my questions are kinda specific. I know what im doing for the most part and im fairly really good at picking my classes and knowing what I need to have a good grad school application but I asked this girl how a professor was for a class she took and she started giving me a ton of unasked for advice and told me it seemed like my path was all over the place and im kinda self conscious about it now lol. For reference im a psych and soci double major and a neuro minor and I was to get my PhD in clinical psychology. Those areas make sense to me and I am taking classes applicable to my interests but it just kinda got me thinking maybe im not doing as well as I thought.

Another thing I was kinda worried about was getting a B+ in my intro to neuro class. I didnt do well on our first exam and it was worth enough that I dont think I could get an A in the class. It’s my minor so im worried how that would look. Any comments are welcome but please be nice :)

Also, apologies if that doesnt make sense, Im kinda drained from midterms rn

Schedule how bad is biol 103? from a pre bme considering bio major

Post image
1 Upvotes

currently on a pre-bme track but highly considering switching to biology. im a freshman atm and ive completed biol 101, chem 101, and chem 102 at a cc.

im planning on taking chem 101L and biol 101L this upcoming semester bc i only got the lecture credit awarded. i have all of my other bme prereqs minus chem 101L, and i really am not sure which major im going to end up going into. so, i really dont want to fall behind on my biology prereqs if im not gonna end up going into bme.

how doable is biology 103? this is what my current schedule idea is looking like. im also gonna throw a focus capacity or a med anthro class in

Question Math 347 vs 577

Does it matter which of the two I take? Im an applied math major so I would assume I should take 347? I dont have the 383 prerequisite for 577 yet so most likely id take 383 and 521 next semester then 577 next year. Or should I just stick with 347 and 383 next semester and do 521 next year?

Admissions/Application Question Optional Resume for Undergrad Admissions (first year)

Hey all,

Just wrapped up my commonapp and I'm getting ready to submit UNC EA. Does anyone know what the suggested length for the optional resume is? Would love to get some more insight. I have quite a few responsibilities and commitments that I couldn't get across in the commonapp. Is it okay to submit a multipager?

Would appreciate any help. Thanks!

Question Python vs R section of STOR 320

I am a math/stor double major for background.

Does it matter which section of STOR 320 I take? I know a lot of the later STOR classes use R so would I be better off taking the R section? I have some previous experience with python, but none with R.
