Campus ridge / hillside apartments

hey everybody,

I have been looking for a 1 bedroom apartment under $800 a month in Athens and had a friend recommend campus ride apartments. Does anybody else have any experience living there? I called and they said they can’t do tours now because all units are full, and I wouldn’t be able to sign until late spring (I am looking for housing for next fall). this makes me a little nervous because there is no guarantee I will have a spot. Any thoughts on this??

1 bedroom apartment less than $1000

I made a post before that didn’t get much traction, but I’m looking for a place to live for the 2027-28 school year, I want to know people’s experience with 1 bedroom apartments $1000 and less that are around a 15 minute or shorter commute from campus. If you have any helpful info so I could begin looking into more options I would greatly appreciate it.

Friel residence room takeover- Female - Jan 2027

Friel residence Room Takeover – Female – January 2027

Hi, I am looking for a female uOttawa student who would be interested in taking over my room in Friel residence starting January 2027 for the Winter semester. It’s shared with another female roommate. The room comes with attached washroom, the kitchenette is just 2 steps away from the room.

I recently got a job which is a bit far from uOttawa and am planning to relocate and travel to university for my classes since I only have to come 3 days a week. This is essentially a take over of my housing contract from Jan 2027, uOttawa will do the official paperwork for the takeover. If you are interested, please message me. Thank you!

Transfer Housing Options

Hello, I’m currently a sophomore at GSU (Male) planning to transfer to UGA in the fall next year. I’ve just started my research on where I could live, right now I’m looking at Ikon. I was wondering if anybody had any potential alternative recommendations, or could provide me with insight on their experience living at Ikon or other off campus housing options?

Also, if there’s anywhere I can live alone that’s around a 20 minute commute a less in the $1000 and under range for a semester at a time that would be perfect.

Looking for housing recommendations — quiet/safe areas near UGA?

I’m considering transferring to UGA in the future and I’m trying to start figuring out housing options early. I’d really appreciate recommendations from current/former UGA students, especially people who have lived off-campus.

My biggest priority is finding somewhere quiet, safe, and in a good area, preferably away from the big SEC/college-party atmosphere. I’m not really interested in living somewhere where there’s constant partying, loud neighbors, or a huge student crowd.

Ideally, I’d like to live alone rather than with roommates. I’ve lived with roommates before and it just isn’t something I’d prefer to do again. I also have severe food allergies, so sharing a kitchen can be a legitimate safety concern for me. I can potentially have a reaction if someone cooks with one of my allergens and the kitchen isn’t cleaned properly afterward. I know most college students aren't necessarily going to think about cross-contamination to the same degree I have to, so having my own kitchen would make me feel considerably safer.

I’ve been looking at Watkinsville as a possibility — potentially getting a 1-bedroom apartment there and commuting to campus on the days I have class. I know that would mean giving up some convenience, though, so I’d love to hear from anyone who has actually done this.

A few questions:

  • Are there apartment complexes/areas in Athens, Watkinsville, or nearby that you would recommend for someone looking for a quiet and safe environment?
  • Is living alone anywhere reasonably close to UGA actually realistic, or is it generally prohibitively expensive?
  • Is Watkinsville → UGA commuting practical for someone who may only be on campus a few days a week?
  • How difficult is parking on campus, and are there good alternatives for someone commuting?
  • Are there particular areas I should avoid if I want to stay away from the main party scene?
  • For anyone who lives alone for the first time, what do you wish you had known beforehand?
  • Any general advice for making the transition to living alone and commuting to campus?

I’m basically trying to find the sweet spot between safe + quiet + affordable + reasonably convenient to UGA, rather than necessarily being right in the middle of everything.

Thanks in advance! I’d really appreciate any recommendations or personal experiences. :)

Spring 2027 UGA Housing Wanted — Trans Male Student | Up to $750/month

Spring 2027 UGA Housing Wanted — Trans Male Student | Up to $750/month
Hi! I’m helping my son find a place to live in Athens for the Spring 2027 semester (January through June/July) while he attends UGA.
We’re looking for:
• Private bedroom
• Ideally a private bathroom, but not required
• $750/month maximum — less is even better!
• Close to UGA and/or convenient to a UGA/Athens bus route
• Spring sublease or room in an existing house/apartment
• Safe, respectful, LGBTQ+ affirming roommates
• No women-only housing, please
A little about our son: he’s a transgender male and very easygoing, respectful, clean, and responsible. He’s looking for a comfortable, welcoming place to live where everyone respects one another and can coexist peacefully. He’s social but also appreciates having his own space and is happy to be part of a friendly household.
We’re particularly interested in a situation where the existing roommates are genuinely comfortable living with a trans guy. We want to be upfront about that from the beginning so everyone can make sure it’s a good fit—no awkward surprises for anyone.
If you have a room available or know of something that might be a good fit, please DM me with the location, monthly rent/utilities, lease dates, roommate situation, and any other relevant details.
We’d also want our son to meet or speak with the roommates before committing.
Thanks so much! ❤️
