Treepreciation A variety of trees in and around my yard
The way the Spanish moss looks as it hangs from the oak trees, especially when the Sun is setting... very ethereal!

Advice Request - (Insert State/Region) Should/how to prune this
My tri color beach tree (SE MI) has this V at the top. I think it's a co-leader? Should I trim the part circled in red when the tee is dormant? My only hesitation is the original leader appears to have buds at the end of the branch that didn't make leaves. I don't want to inadvertently top the tree if that leader dies off.
Please advise.

Advice Request - (Insert State/Region) Is this the destructive pine Beatles?
I was taking out my trash and heard a chewing sound coming from my 2 big pine trees at the end of my driveway. Started looking and see these little holes in the bark as you can see in the video. Towards the end of the video you can hear the chewing sound. If it is is there a way to kill them before they kill my trees?
Advice Request - Eastern Pennsylvania Need to Replace Tree
Hello, hoping for some advice / suggestions!
My home is on a heavily wooded lot in Eastern PA. Majority of the mature trees are 80'+ tall Tulip Poplars & Red (or maybe Black) Oaks. Some Hickory, pin cherry, black walnut & young ash mixed in too.
I have a large Red Oak near the house that is going to have to be removed sooner or later. We had a certified Arborist asses the tree a couple months back and learned that there are areas of rot at / above several major roots. 🙁
This tree is fairly prominent relative to the house and will be missed - we'll want to plant something in its place.
Here's were the advice request comes in:
Can anyone suggest a native, fairly quick growing tree we could plant that might do well in the shaded forest surroundings?
Photo of the tree at the center of this quandary included. (The house in the background is the neighbor's FYI).
Thanks!

Treepreciation English elms/Ulmus procera, Cook Park, Orange, Australia
These were planted in the 1890s & are about 40m tall. The trees in pics 2, 3 & 4 have trunks 2m in diameter. Australia & New Zealand are some of the few places where they haven't been devastated by Dutch elm disease.

Treepreciation Platanus orientalis/oriental plane, one of the parents of London plane.
Growing on Cook Park, Orange, Australia. It's native of southern Italy to NW Iran. The other parent is Platanus occidentalis/American sycamore/plane. They met & fell in love in a Spanish garden, & created vigorous offspring.

Advice Request - (Insert State/Region) Planting a deciduous tree where small trees already exist
See pictures, two small patches of uncut grasses and small trees. Could I clear these and plant a weeping Willow or Oak?
What would give the hardwoods the best chance for success? And can/should I do this in November? - Atlantic Canada

Discussion Co-dominant Cedar
I have this massive (10-15ft across ~150ft tall) cedar on my property, I believe it's a western red cedar but I have no idea. The weird thing is that it has 5 co-dominant trunks and I've never seen a cedar tree here with more than 2, and that seems very rare. Tree is in the Western Sierra foothills at 3000ft (between Reno and Sacramento). Is this common or just a freak thing?

ID Request (Insert State/Region) Is this a Linden Tree? Massachusetts 6B-7A
I tried to do my own research and I’m getting a Linden Tree but from what I read it is in bloom in June/July.
I have realized I am not a fan of the smell and I do not get honey from the scent profile. I do get florals but not good ones. I also noticed for me, it smells in September. I never really paid attention and it never stuck out to me until a couple of years ago. At the time I was experiencing pretty serious sensory overload and it was then that this scent knocked me over. I am a huge perfume fan so my nose is not usually turned off so abruptly.
There aren’t any other trees directly near this one so I am fairly sure that what I am smelling is this tree.
It’s not disgusting but it’s very earthy with a hint of florals, but flowers that were in a bouquet and partially rotted in a vase.

Advice Request - (Insert State/Region) Save or replace? (VA zone 7)
Virginia, zone 7.
Corkscrew Willow grown from a cutting i took of my grandmother's tree when she passed, years ago. Transplanted it a few years ago.
I took the pictures of the trunk a month ago. The leaves were all dying, and i intended to ask here about possible causes and prognosis.
The recent picture of the full tree shows it having bounced back.
I have made another cutting, which has established well enough to have a woody trunk. It is currently in a large pot outdoors, and survived last winter.
Of those more knowledgeable than me, i ask:
1) Likely causes for the trunk's affliction?
2) Is the tree likely to die anytime soon?
3) Should I go ahead and replace it now, before winter? Or perhaps plant the smaller tree elsewhere?
Thank you in advance!
