Discussion Just finished episode 6 of Seven Havens and want to discuss Pavi a little bit NSFW Spoiler
Hey guys, I just finished episode 6 and wanted to share some thoughts I had! I'm less discussing the episode itself (even though I'm super interested and excited to see where this goes, holy shit), and more appreciating details about Pavi and her disability.
I am a below the knee amputee just like Pavi is, and I can't tell you how much this portrayal of lower limb amputees means to me and is appreciated.🦿
(Pic of my leg for proof lol.)
When a leg/socket doesn't fit right and it's agonizing to put weight on it. When the phantom pains strike and it's so debilitating. Being told not to hop on your sound leg. When you refuse help from friends and family who genuinely care and just want to help you, but you don't want to feel dependent, incapable, or "disabled." When you finally get a well-fitting leg that has bounce to it, you just want to jump around and use it, cause it feels so freeing.
Every little bit they portrayed with Pavi here in this episode is so spot on and so relatable for me personally. Even to her living alone and doing everything herself, it hits deep cause I also live alone and do everything myself. I feel her so much. It might be silly, but I felt so seen watching this. It honestly made me kind of emotional.🥺
I know Avatar is no stranger to disability portrayal with Toph, Ming Hua, and Zuko if you count him. But Pavi's portrayal is much more grounded and realistic, I love it so much. We don't even know much about her, but Pavi might be my favorite Avatar so far, which is crazy to say cause I love Aang soo much. But Pavi is just so cute, and she's the most relatable Avatar for me. I can't wait to see how she'll grow throughout this series!🌱
