New model Y miles

• Upvotes

I’m picking up a new model Y premium today. I noticed in the paperwork that it has 15 miles in the odometer. Is this normal? Nearest Tesla center is two hours away so I will have to drive two hours to get there.

Is there something wrong?

2024 Tesla Model Y Performance. I understand that the advertised range is not what you get, but is there something wrong with my car? According to this my total range at 100% would be 186.7 miles which is absolutely awful.

Any advice?

Y Juniper 2026-May

• Upvotes

I have a weird problem, got the car brand new - there was some slight noise from the left front wheel, like a humming sound barely noticable. Like a wheel bearing but not that loud... I was thinking it's tyre noise, however now I switched to new tyres and the noise is still there....

You can even feel it in wheel like a slight, vibration, very, very slight... it starts as soon as the car is moving, no matter the speed...

Anyone had issues like that, how to present it to tesla support?

Thanks!

HW3 MY recently pulls over randomly while in FSD

In latest 2026.38.5.1 and v14.3 Lite. I’ve noticed a few times over the last week or two, and I was on an earlier software as well for that, while in FSD with not much traffic around, the car will randomly put on its blinker, slow down, and pull over to the side of the road, as if an emergency vehicle was approaching from behind. In all of these cases, there was no emergency vehicle lights or sounds, or even any other traffic following closely behind or coming from in front in any dangerous way. Has anybody else noticed this?

Pulled the trigger

After the self-service test drive I just couldn't stop thinking on buying one. The upgrade from the car I am dailying is massive (Fiat Panda 2018, 90km (55miles) /day).

I tested both the MY and the M3 but the M3's trunk wasn't what I was looking for and I felt way too close to the ground. Also, I loved how the new MY looks.

Decided to go with the LRMY AWD Ultra Red/black interior since I am tired of seeing these white/grey/black car roads.

In Switzerland, there is currently an offer that will last until Dec 31st for the LRMY (leasing) : 0% APR, CHF 4'000 bonus and 3 years free charge on Superchargers (30k KM limit/year). Otherwise, I wouldn't have gotten a new car.

For now, I think I may buy it when the lease ends (we have that option here).

Looking forward to driving it.

Thoughts on ultra red?

Edit 1: My GF who hates driving also loved it, so that is another reason. Insurance : CHF 1900/year.

Hello all, I’ve been searching for a used tesla and came across this one. 2022 clean title 35k miles for $24k
If anyone can help me with looking up the VIN much appreciated.
Should I go for it? Any advice? Anything else I should look into in this car?

Anyone go from Highland to Juniper?

I am seriously considering the move from a 2024 RWD LR Model 3 to a new Y. The reason is room, plain and simple. I love my Highland to death but it seems like I am always trying to get something to fit in the trunk that won’t. It’s also camping season here and a Model Y will come in handy.

What I think I would miss is the low cowl/hoodline, the buttery smooth ride on the 18’s, and the overall sexy looks of the Highland.

What I think I would gain is fantastic practicality and comfort.

Has anyone else here made the transition? If so, how has it been?

Indent in back of front seat

Just noticed our new child seat had put this indent in the back of the passenger front seat of our 2026 model Y. Is this a permanent thing or will it sort itself out? Thanks

Free open-source Pi dashcam drive that backs up Sentry footage to your NAS (looking for Model Y testers)

I built Glovebox for my Model 3, and it should work the same on a Model Y since it uses the standard TeslaCam drive, but I haven't been able to test one. If anyone wants to try it, I'd be grateful for a report.

It's a Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W that replaces your dashcam USB stick:

  • Sentry and saved clips back up to your NAS automatically when you're home.
  • Web app with all six cameras in sync, on your phone or computer.
  • Encrypted clips supported (backed up, ready for dashcam.tesla.com).
  • Keeps the car awake during the backup with a limited Bluetooth key that can't unlock or drive it.
  • No cloud, no subscription.

Setup is flashing an image and filling in one file: https://github.com/lubaxe/glovebox

Marine Blue Model Y showing the old Deep Blue on UI

I toggled the Halloween update on to try it out for my kids. Turned it off because it wasn’t for me. After doing that, the car turned to the deep blue color. I tried rebooting the screen, going into software and selecting the default color… which is apparently the deep blue. My Tesla is a 2026 juniper. Any ideas? I have a service ticket for something else so I will probably just have them figure out why the factory display shows the deep blue instead of marine blue at that point.

Fleet API project: automatic nightly charge limits, plug-in reminders triggered by my phone's Bluetooth

I kept forgetting to plug in after errands, so I set up a little personal project with Tesla's official Fleet API. I'm not selling anything, it's just my own setup.

What it does:

Sets my charge limit every night based on my week: 80% on busy days, 60% otherwise.

When my phone disconnects from the car's Bluetooth at home, it checks the car once and pings me if I forgot to plug in.

How it works: I registered a free developer app, logged in through Tesla's OAuth, and paired a virtual key with the car so commands are signed. A free GitHub Pages site hosts the public key, so there's no server to run. I'm not using Fleet Telemetry, just on-demand API calls. It "costs" about $1 a month, which Tesla's $10 monthly credit covers.

I used an AI assistant to walk me through the setup, which made it a lot less painful than it sounds. Happy to answer questions if anyone wants to try it.

2027 model y AWD

I switched to an AWD from a RWD because of the October 1st “refresh”, but I can’t find anywhere what exactly the updates consist of. I can’t see that my front and rear motor is still the 3DU. Supposedly the V2 manifold isn’t available in the US. I was excited to get the AWD because I felt like I would get more for my money with the silent refresh. I also asked my sales agent and called the service center for any concrete answers, but no luck. Any advice or does anyone know of any confirmed 2027 AWD upgrades? Mahalo

End-of-warranty soon - Inspection: $500 or Warranty fix my issue

I've been going through a few threads of everyone advising to go to the app and ask for a overall inspection of the vehicle, and they all say it costs $100-$800. I'm in Southern California, so I'm looking at $500 (I attempted a few locations and they all gave me the same estimate).

I currently hear a knock from the rear of my car when I come to a full stop, I'm guessing it's the links going bad. With that said, is it worth it to pay the $500 and get everything checked, or should I just take it in for the knock sound? Btw, if everything is checked (inspection) and anything further is found - they fix it under warranty right?

Bought a new Model Y Performance a month ago, got a Cybertruck loaner, and now I want to trade it in for a Cyberbeast. How bad is the depreciation?

We bought a brand-new 2026 Model Y Performance about a month ago. Unfortunately, it's already been to the service center for a bunch of minor cosmetic issues, and Tesla gave us a Cybertruck as a loaner.

I love the cybertruck so much. It felt like a boat at first, but I've been beating the shit out of it and having some fun before I have to pick up the Y tomorrow morning. I love it so much and it's actually so futuristic compared to the Y performance.

The Model Y is only a month old and has just under 1,000 miles on it. I'm wondering how much we would loose by trading it in for a cybertruck.

Does crossing 1,000 miles make any significant difference in resale value? Also, what's the best way to go about this? Should we trade it directly to Tesla, or Carvana or sell privately?

I'm in NJ

Has anyone done something similar or have any advice on minimizing the loss?

Also btw I'm 16 but I know my parents regret getting the Y now that we've driven the cybertruck for a few hours. We had a 22 model y perf sold to carvana then we got the 26 y perf. Also have a 26 model 3 perf. Cybertruck is something i've never experienced before and I really love it. I've only been driving for a month but the Cybertruck is really amazing and I love the steer by wire.

new tesla driver with a couple complaints

before y’all sharpen your pitchforks, these issues are very specific to being a parent.

i picked up my model y premium last saturday so i’ve had the pleasure of driving it for almost a week now. i absolutely love it and have no regrets about it but i do already have a couple of complaints. keep in mind, this may just be me and i haven’t quite learned all its functions yet but i’ve tried searching for solutions and couldn’t find any.

  1. when i take my toddler to daycare in the morning, i buckle her in her car seat first and then make my way to the driver seat (ofc). i would love for the car to just keep running if she’s already in there instead of the car automatically waking up and then shutting down when i close her door and then start back up again when i enter the car. or if it would just not turn on unless i get in the driver seat and choose when to turn it on, that too would be great. i get the convenience and love it when it’s just me but i think just having the option to CHOOSE when to start/stop would be so nice. also sometimes i just need to get something i forgot in the car - i don’t need it to turn on all the time
  2. when she naps in the car, we put on white noise for her and like most babies, car rides are soothing to them. bc of that, we end up cruising a good amount of the time and run our errands while she naps in the car - while one parent stays, the other parent goes and gets what needs to get done. today we went on a coffee run and my husband picked up our order but as soon as he opened the door, the audio stopped and woke her up. and it resumed as soon as the door closed but she stayed awake the entire time and it resulted in interrupting her nap

i’ve seen many ppl here say “it’s a feature, not a bug” and “you’re just lacking common courtesy”. i don’t want continuity of audio just so my neighboring drivers can hear white noise. i just think teslas aren’t really keeping parents in mind when it comes to these UX designs. that’s pretty apparent given that a “joe” had to complain about noise level for notifications and there is now a “joe mode”

are there any other parents out there experiencing these issues or sees these as issues? or non parents that agree with me about these features? are there work arounds to this that i just haven’t found yet? if it were just me, i totally understand the appeal for it but with a baby, it’s just not convenient

TLDR: want option to choose on/off button, and continuity of audio when door opens. complaints mainly bc they affect my toddler, otherwise i don’t mind them driving solo

Hi all,

Just purchased a CPO MY w/ HW4

First FSD drive home, mapped home which is normally 45 minutes.

Ended up taking 2 hours. FSD missed like every exit and finally just took over and drove home. Am i missing something? Had it on mad max but that’s the only thing I can think of that would make it miss exits. Please help!

2026 MYP– Steering Wheel Vibration Above 70 MPH. Tesla Can't Fix It After 2 Visits. Anyone Else?

Thumbnail

Just picked up my 2026 Model Y Performance, and I've been dealing with a frustrating steering wheel vibration whenever I drive above 70 mph.

I've already taken it to Tesla Service twice, and they still haven't been able to fix the issue.

Has anyone else experienced this with the new Model Y Performance? If so, did you ever find a solution? Was it related to wheel balancing, tires, alignment, or something else?

Would really appreciate hearing from anyone who's dealt with this and actually managed to get it fixed!

They already tried doing wheel balance but it didn't fix the problem.

Grok Memory

Thumbnail
2 Upvotes

One of my biggest complaints about Grok in Tesla is the lack of memory between sessions.
I actually enjoy using Grok, but it’s frustrating that every time I get back in my car, it’s like we’re starting from scratch. It doesn’t remember anything about me, my preferences, or our previous conversations.
I feel like having an AI assistant in your car should be about more than just answering random questions. It should learn your preferences over time, remember things you’ve discussed, and become more useful the longer you own the vehicle.
Imagine being able to pick up a conversation from your previous drive or having Grok remember your favorite destinations, interests, or how you like things done.
Without memory, it feels more like a novelty than a true personal assistant.
Anyone else bothered by this? Has Tesla mentioned any plans to introduce persistent memory for Grok?

When I have it set for trick or treat, I exit the car and it will not self lock, and the Halloween music will play continuously.

Anyone else?
