Mod Post [PSA] Telegram Support Volunteer account on r/Telegram
Dear everyone,
Starting today, an account managed by the Telegram Support Volunteers will be active on [r/Telegram](r/Telegram).
The account is [u/TG_Volunteer_Support](u/TG_Volunteer_Support). To prevent impersonation, we’ve set up a dedicated flair (Volunteer Support) that is exclusively assigned to this account, so you can easily recognize it.
This is an entirely volunteer-driven initiative and will not affect the independence or rules of this community, which remains completely unofficial and not affiliated with Telegram.
Please continue to follow the community rules and avoid actively seeking interactions with this account. The volunteers will not respond to unsolicited DMs, and posts specifically requesting their attention will be removed.
The Support Volunteers account is also not affiliated with Telegram and does not represent the company. However, it can be considered trustworthy when it comes to handling personal information, if requested. This will function similarly to the “Settings → Ask a Question” feature in the Telegram apps.
Please don’t be scared to interact with the account, or to share personal information such as the phone number if requested via DM. The account is run by some of the same people you may find in the in-app support and it’s PERFECTLY SAFE. If you don’t like to do it on Reddit, you will likely be redirected elsewhere by them.
We hope this initiative will improve the quality of discussions on [r/Telegram](r/Telegram), provide better insights, and help escalate certain issues so they can be resolved more effectively.
If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact the moderators via ModMail. We may update this post with additional information if needed.
You can find the account in the comments of this post.

Mute everything except direct notifications
I'm in a group chat and want to mute everything except direct notifications (i.e. someone @'ing me). This used to be very easy to do but I can't seem to find the option anymore. Any ideas how to do this? I'm using Android if that makes a difference.

Lack of Notifications on iOS
Just started using Telegram last week because one online friend has it, says What’s App & Google Chat (the latter less secure) doesn’t install on her phone.
What’s App works perfectly.
Telegram doesn’t. In particular notifications, the tone was so silent that it doesn’t wake a sleeping person & can’t find an option for a ring tone. Although did find where tones can be found & changed it to a standard text message tone (the “ding” sound). Hopefully this will be enough, although don’t know yet.
Plus there’s been times without any notification of a chat coming in. This is embarrassing when starting a relationship with someone, she thinks I’m avoiding her sometimes when actually waiting on her. Anyone else with an iPhone (iOS 26.7.1) having notification issues?
I’ve not upgraded to iOS 27 yet due to the increased AI components, of which I don’t want nor need.
If anyone has suggestions, I would greatly appreciate any. Thank you.

iOS: Duckduckgo browser removed from "Open links in" settings
Issue:
Settings > Privacy and Security > Open Links in > Select desired browser
I had Duckduckgo browser setup here for ages, all links in telegram where opening in that browser.
Since last update, 13.1 , this browser is no longer listed.
I updated just now to 13.1.1 and issue is still present.
Please review and fix this issue.
Thank you

Welcome messages not being sent
Hello Telegram community,
I have a group chat with about 1000 people, I am the owner of that group. I have configured a Welcome message and I can see it but it's not being sent to new members.
I keep my app updated to the latest version and I've checked with some people that joined the group and they also have updated version. I'm using Android and desktop apps, if that matters.
This issue, is it just me having it? Is it a general occurrence?
Thank you.

Question about my Telegram account
Hi!
How are you? I'd like to ask if it's possible to recover my Telegram data when I re-register my number, because I deleted my account and want to come back, but I don't remember my contacts.
I contacted Telegram, but they haven't replied yet...
Is there a solution?
So I kindly ask:
- If there is any possibility to restore my deleted owner account, please help me restore it.
- If restoration is truly impossible, please at least transfer the ownership of the channel to my current admin account, so I can properly manage the channel and remove the deleted account.

Telegram hotkeys after the update
Am I missing something here, or am I just stupid? After the latest Telegram update, I literally can't type a question mark (?) anymore. Like, at all. Pressing Shift+? opens this hotkeys menu, and it happens with every keyboard layout, both English and my native language.
I'm sorry, but how the fuck am I supposed to type a question mark now? Did anyone even test this shit before releasing the update?
P.S. This was fixed in today's update, so this post is no longer relevant.

Two way auto translation stopped working on desktop
On the desktop client for mac downloaded from the app store two way auto translation always worked. If I send a message in a language that's not english it translated it for me to english. Obviously same with messages I receive not in english. This is with premium.
This was always really helpful as I don't speak the language I message in, copy and pasting from google translate to talk with people. Now my messages are stuck in other languages so if I want to reread them I have to manually copy and paste each into a translator app.
Anyone else experiencing this? I've tried everything to fix

Gift/nft owner
A while ago I sent a collectible as gift, now if I check the chat with the receiver and click on the collectible to check details I no longer see the actual link to profile (was in blue characters with pro pic etc) but just its name in plain white with no redirectering to the profile) as owner…does it mean the gift was sold or ready to be sold or given away? Where I can check? 🙁

What to do if a channel has been reported and blocked for copyright?
You need to delete the channel or group, or it's now blocked and not accessible to users and that's it

Telethon 1.45.0 suddenly stopped delivering Telegram codes — it was working perfectly until last week
Hi everyone,
I'm experiencing a frustrating issue with Telethon in Google Colab, and I'm hoping someone can help me identify the root cause.
Everything was working perfectly until last week. I was using the same login workflow, and Telegram was successfully delivering login codes to the official Telegram service chat in my account. I could authenticate with Telethon without any problems.
Suddenly, the login codes stopped arriving, even though Telethon reports that the request was successful.
Environment
- Python: 3.13.16
- Telethon: 1.45.0
- Platform: Google Colab
- Authentication: Phone number using
API_IDandAPI_HASH - Protobuf: 7.3.1 (I'm not sure whether it's relevant.)
What happens exactly?
- Connecting to Telegram's servers works successfully.
client.is_user_authorized()returnsFalsefor a new session.client.send_code_request(phone)completes without raising an exception.- Telegram returns the following response:
SentCodeTypeApp(length=5) - No login code arrives in my Telegram account, even though this exact workflow was working normally until last week.
- I can still log in to
my.telegram.orgusing the same phone number, and the login code arrives successfully in Telegram Desktop.
What have I tried?
I've already tried several troubleshooting steps, but nothing has resolved the issue. The connection to Telegram's servers works, and the code request is accepted, yet the login code never arrives.
My questions
- Has there been any recent change to the Telegram API or login-code delivery mechanism within the past week?
- Is there a known issue with Telethon 1.45.0, Python 3.13, or Google Colab that could explain this sudden behavior?
- Does
SentCodeTypeAppconfirm that Telegram actually delivered the code, or does it only indicate the intended delivery method? - How can I diagnose the problem and identify the root cause without repeatedly requesting codes or randomly changing my API credentials?
The most important detail is that the same code and workflow were working perfectly until last week, and then the login codes suddenly stopped arriving without any intentional changes on my part.
Has anyone experienced a similar issue recently? Is there a known bug, API change, or authentication-related restriction that could explain this behavior?
Any suggestions or technical guidance would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!
