Help! Sleeping underground?
How do I create an underground bed? I am playing the swamp map - I checked the wiki and didn’t find instructions either.

Hey Tavernkeepers - quick update on Domhain (our upcoming dwarven Update 2).
Progress on the new scenario and mechanics is going well, but we need a bit more time to make sure everything lands the way it should. Because of that, we’re moving the update to Q3 this year.
That said, we’ve got some good news: expandable taverns are officially coming!
It won’t be a full free-build system - you’ll still work within set layouts - but there’ll be much more room for your biggest taverns to grow and breathe.
Domhain is shaping up to be our biggest update yet, with:
- The new tavern shop system
- New major mechanics
- Expanded tavern space
- And much more we’ll let you discover once the update is live
These additions ended up needing more space (literally and mechanically), which played a big part in this decision. We’ve posted a full breakdown of the development process and why we made the call here: https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/436780/view/615450776305665728
Thank you for your patience! We are chipping away at our roadmap in a way that will ensure the best game possible. Don't hesitate to tell us what are you most looking forward to in Domhain - expandable taverns, the shop system, the new dwarven content, or something else? We read all your kind comments and deeply appreciate your support as we keep building toward something bigger.

Hello! I've been playing this game to death in the last two weeks. Absolutely love it. But I do have some observations I want to make.
It should be possible to close the kitchen before you close the bar. If its actually possible then i'm just being a dufus.
On the blacksmith. I don't mind it per se, but I find it weird in the spirit of this being a tavern, excluding the dwarven part. I would have expected to seeing stables, bath houses, or barbers before seeing a blacksmith inside a tavern, excluding the need for dwarves in dwarven mountains to buy an axe and a shovel with their beer.
I would like to see the tavern star rating changed. It requires every service available to raise it. I would love the option of choosing my own specialization, and i have to do it well to get the stars.
For example, maybe I want to be more of an inn than a tavern. Or a tavern with a great store. More a restaurant than a tavern. or a place for dining and sleeping. so on and so forth. Or if a bath house and a barber would come in, a bar and a spa!
Otherwise, keep up the good work devs!

Anyone else having a weird issue with the controls in trying to place buildings using the Steam Deck? I can’t build the first building required for the tutorial

The title says it all. I know the developers monitor this sub, so I just wanted to say thank you for all the hard work and that I hope you continue.
Tavern Keeper is one I come back to on those days when the real world feels a little too big and much too complicated. I enjoy that it presents problems to solve without being overwhelming or stressful, and that the tasks don't feel like chores. I am also charmed at the world it creates, with this tinge of fantasy-esque storytelling happening around you. I have been waiting for a long time for new material to bring this world to life and offer more depth, and the new update does just that.

tavernkeeper.wiki.gg was created (by Greenheart staff, I assume) in September 2024, over a year before the game even went into Early Access. But until now it consisted of just the descriptions of the first three world regions and a handful of basically empty stub pages. I spent the last couple of days figuring out many of the game mechanics in detail, compiling all the data and trying to present everything in a useful way, and now it has all relevant infos on the various drinks, meals, ingredients and wares, tavern and room ratings, taste profiles, patron and staff traits, skill levels, modifiers, etc. Still a lot is missing, but it's a wiki, it lives from people participating... If you want to help, now it's not an empty sheet any more.
https://tavernkeeper.wiki.gg/wiki/Tavern_Keeper serves as an entry point at the moment, listing all existing pages - and some that you might want to create?

I’m trying to figure out what all raw materials I need to craft swords and axes. Anyone able to tell me what the raw ingredients are? I have 3 different types of ingots and I added the grinding stone and quenching pool but the blacksmiths aren’t working on crafting them.

I really like hearthes, they provide cozy look combined with heating. I like putting comfy chairs next to them for the vibe. Currently though I feel like I'm forced to chose between having hearth far away from everything to the point it looks ugly and benefits weaken, or put out fires every second day. Is anyone else facing same dilemma?

I've reached the stage where Dwarves want cake, but can not figure out what actually counts as a "topping". Just spent over a thousand gold buying whatever sounded right, which turned out to be a waste.
So where are toppings? How do I get them?

I'm being an idiot, I cant understand how to create an opening so they can actually get down there and begin clearing out

Tried a few combinations, but can't seem to find any mixture of cake ingredients (flour, sweetener, toppings) that is actually worth the investment. I can still make a profit on it, but the margin is so small any interruption in supply puts me in the red.
I know the Orehearts and Ironbreakers have differing tastes (Orehearts like Vines, Ironbreakers like Brews for example), but neither seem terribly interested in desserts despite that one storybook quest.

Maybe I’m dumb, but I can’t figure out how to remove walls I’ve built in my rooms

This is just a random shower thought, but I love the idea of being able to sacrifice tavern rating or money or an employee 😬 to summon demonic patrons when you need a boost in the middle of the night.
Sometimes you just have that feeling of:
-"Man I wish people would come to my taverrn, I'd do anything!"
-"...Anything you say?"
I also feel the potential for amusing storires and writing to go along with this is immense and quite Pratchett-esque

Been playing on the experimental branch, and I have noticed that even though my front office and most of my customer bedrooms are downstairs, no guests ever go downstairs. Are customers by default not allowed in the basement, and how do I go about getting them to my inn short of rearranging my whole tavern?
