Rant 🔥 Short girls treating me like their boyfriend Spoiler

I have almost exclusively short friends.
I get told i have the perfect height for a boyfriend and they will jokingly bat their eyes at me and say “wow youre so tall” as if they were flirting with a tall man. “Let’s compare hand sizes.” “Ugh youre so lucky you don’t have any boobs” “lets compare foot sizes”

I get little comments so often. Sitting down they tell me im so much taller than them when i sit. Lying down they tell me im so much longer. Why do they feel the need to constantly comment on it as if theyre noticing it for the first time.

I am slowly but surely turning insane 🤗

The problem isn’t rly the annoyance in the moment though. Its more the way its made me feel so alienated. I wish i had another girl friend just as tall as me so i could just feel average sized for a bit

Fashion 👒 Girls seeks Coat

Hey ladies-

I’m 6’3, size 12, built like Ilona Maher.

I got a new job & will be doing advocacy at our Statehouse. I’m in Indiana & it will be cold all session.

I’d like to get a nice pea coat or something similar. Does anyone have a good lead for a coat with long arms & will look good over my suits? I’d like it to be warm enough to feel ok walking a couple of city blocks in below freezing temps, but if I have to choose, it’s fashion over function.

Any leads are appreciated. Have a great day!

Rant 🔥 I hate getting told I’m “wasting” my height Spoiler

Sometimes on the streets, random strangers (especially men) will come to me and ask if I play basketball or any sport, or if I plan on becoming a model. When I tell them no, they start talking about how a tall girl like me should be doing something with my height and that I shouldn’t be “wasting” it. I don’t want to be a model or an athlete, I just want to be average and I don’t understand why does it bother strangers I’ll never see again. I don’t really have tall friends so I don’t know if this is something common or not. I already struggle enough with accepting my height without random people making unsolicited comments about it ((. How can I make those comments hurt less?

(Sorry for bad English)

Fashion 👒 Anyone tried sky dolls sweat suits?

I reeeeeaaaaally want one of their hoodie and sweats sets. I’m 5’11”, 175 lbs, 34” inseam. Im wondering if their regular “long” size would be enough for me? It looks like it would be if they are true to size

✨ CW: BODY TALK ✨ Being tall is a financial burden. Spoiler

6ft in the USA. I will save my social complaints about being tall for another day.

But I am seriously so sick of it being a financial burden! Not just clothes being $100+, but also airplane tickets. Movie seats. A desk that is extra tall for work (I had to buy a sit stand desk). I have to consider the car I drive, as I tried a smaller car and bruised the crap out of my knees. If I don't want to hunch over to cook, I need giant sized countertops and toilets and basically everything. Supersize it.

The latest culprit? Compression socks. I lost 120lbs and now have a vericose vein, and my insurance requires I wear compression socks for a period of time before they let me do anything about it. I hunted. I scoured. I measured. I ordered and waited 2 weeks because lord knows very few tall things are amazon prime or in stores. They came. They dont even reach mid thigh, roll down painfully. AND they of course charged extra for them.

Im going to lose my shit 🙃

Rant 🔥 My hair will never look as long as it would if I was shorter

I’ve always wanted hair down to my butt, and everyone always points out that my hair IS long, but I just realized that proportionally, it doesn’t look as long because I’m so effin tall. If I was a shorty it would look soooo long 😡

Shopping 🏬 Tall maternity

Hey all,

Any ladies find any good sites or stores for tall maternity clothing? I don’t need anything yet, but I will. I’m so tired of wearing cropped jeans and exclusively leggings. Tops aren’t as much of an issue, but any pants/legging rec for tall maternity would be greatly appreciated.

Shopping 🏬 Tall Brick & Mortar Boutiques in London?

Hello my fellow tall girlies!

I'm going on a trip to London soon to visit my husband's family and while I lived there for 3 years ten years ago, I never had the funds (student life) to invest in forever pieces for my wardrobe, so I never went hunting for fashion houses in the area.

I'm in a good place in life and would love to get a piece to commemorate this trip since it will be our first time in London since getting married.

Do any of you know of any brick & mortar tall women's boutiques that I could go to to try on and shop? I am willing to travel pretty much anywhere in the Greater London area and even a little outside as long as I can take a train there.

I will also be in Brighton for a weekend to visit some friends so recommendations there are welcome, too.

My googling has turned up some great online-only options but has failed to provide me with an actual storefront to go to so thank you so much in advance for any options you give!

✨ CW: BODY TALK ✨ The tall and socially anxious combo Spoiler

This might be a negative one but I don’t know anyone irl who can relate to this and it feels a bit alienating. I’ve had social anxiety my whole life and can be pretty awkward in social situations. I’ve always wanted to make myself “smaller” and hated standing out. Being tall makes this quite hard and honestly makes me feel even more awkward and off putting.

Most of the girls I know are much shorter than me. I also have wide shoulders, big boobs and I’m not skinny, just average. I feel like people almost expect me to be confident or extroverted just because I’m tall. It’s weird. When I started a waitressing job, I was obviously very shy and quiet but somehow a rumour went around between the guys that I was some kind of “dominatrix”. It made me so uncomfortable. Both men and women have called me intimidating.

I feel like the way I feel inside doesn’t fit the outside. You know those meme pictures of horses in random places, like a grocery store? That’s how I feel.

When I see other tall women irl I think they look beautiful and I never think those things about them. I don’t know how to stop perceiving myself this way.

My boyfriend is a bit shorter than me and seeing pictures of us standing next to each other makes me feel bad about myself. Like I take too much space. I really wanna stop feeling this way. I’m in therapy for OCD, anxiety etc but it’s expensive so I can only afford it once a month. Feels like there’s no time to even bring this up.

Fashion 👒 Best places to shop for cute size ten and up shoes?

I think I might wear a 10.5 to 11 now. They tend not to carry much beyond a 10 in a lot of stores. I need wide at least. Any suggestions? I live in the United States.

Shopping 🏬 Flannel nightgowns anyone?

Does anyone have any good recommendations for good quality flannels where the arms come reasonably close to reaching out wrists and the gown approaches the floor?

I’m so very tired of disappointments — knee length, drafty gowns with annoying sleeves that hit mid forearm and there is no chance of actually buttoning the cuffs. Uggggg.

My favorite nightgown was sewn by a friend of a friend who was a bit shorter than me but was trying to re-create nightgowns of her childhood that were big and roomy. It wound up way too big for her but perfect for me. Sadly, that was decades ago and the nightgown is long gone.

I’m in my 60s, disabled and desperately seeking comfort over the coming winter months. A friend just gave me her mother’s (very nice) vintage Viking sewing machine and I may have stumbled across my first project here. Alas, I do need to get the machine in for servicing/cleaning before either of us is up for the job.

I thought I would outsource this to the most resourceful group on Reddit. I’m an XL-2X, depending on variables. Any suggestions ladies?

Shopping 🏬 Looking for a good pair of combat boots

I am trying to find a decent pair of combat boots with laces and a zipper on the inside for easy on and off. I am 6’3” and am a size 14 or 15. I am getting tired of having to buy men’s shoes which are too wide or having the internet search engines direct me to drag shoppes and places that supposedly cater to tall women but don’t sell anything larger than a 12. I am in the US and would like to not have to pay international shipping. I used to default to Payless and had great boots from them but they have worn down to nothing, sadly.

Any help would be greatly appreciated 😊

General 🌞 Do you feel you’ve lost out on jobs because of your height?

Doesn’t it seem like a lot of places want average height to short women? There’s simply less of us and we stick out like a sore thumb. This is probably more applicable to those who are super tall. But anyways.

Advice 🙃 Newly engaged--Dreading the bridal experience because of my height

May come across as woe is me, but truly looking for practical solutions.

I am 6'1" and not a single-digit size in anything. I'm newly engaged, now past the glow of the proposal and getting into wedding planning. While I am not in the WNBA level of height, I am definitely tall enough to be inconvenient and large enough that I don't get the advantage that I would if I were model thin. I wear a size 13 womens shoe, wide feet. I have disproportionately long arms. I am used to the struggle that comes with every day clothing, but I'm now dreading the experience of trying to be a bride and not getting the same experience or options as shorter women. I've done a lot of work on body image, but I am not only anxious but preemptively depressed expecting that say I won't get to find a pair of beautiful shoes that I love and build a look around them or have as many options for dresses/shoes in general because they simply aren't manufactured in my size, to give a few examples.

What are you tall girls doing for bridal things??

Shopping 🏬 Where are we finding tall snow pants?

I live in a place with a lot of snow and am tired of having wet leggings/pants whenever I need to shovel my driveway or go sledding with my kid. I’d love to find some cute snow pants that keep me warm and dry.

I’m not opposed to buying men’s pants, but I do have wide hips (42”) and find that most men’s clothing are structured for narrow body types and don’t fit me well. I could use at least a 36” inseam.

Can anyone recommend a brand or store that they like? Thanks!

Fashion 👒 Baggy pants/jeans

Hey all, i’m looking for some advice on where people are buying baggy jeans/pants that actually look baggy on tall people. and i dont just mean wide leg or slightly baggy i want extremely baggy, jnco style jeans that drag on the ground and give that dramatic silhouette (example in comments). i’m 5’11 but maybe closer to 6 foot as i havent measured in ages, in pants i am usually a size au8-12 but it varies because of how inconsistent clothing sizes are. im not entirely sure what my inseam is but i have veryyy long legs. i dont mind if theyre mens or womens pants as ive worn mens jeans most of my life when it came to baggy because womens baggy jeans dont tend to have the look i like and always taper in at the waist (i just prefer to wear belts). im really desperate as i havent been able to wear baggy pants since i was probably 5’9 and i dont like how fitted/straight leg pants look so ive pretty much been stuck wearing skirts and shorts every single day since my last growth spurt. the only place ive found that has alright looking baggy jeans is levis as their models are tall but they dont look baggy enough for my liking so i was also wondering if anyone had experience buying levis baggy jeans and just sizing up a few sizes to give the extra baggy look. im mainly looking for jeans but any baggy pants including cargos or tracksuit pants would also be extremely helpful. im also in australia but at this point im willing to buy from overseas. any advice or recommendations are extremely appreciated 🙏

Fashion 👒 Tall girls, where are we getting non-cropped workout tops??

Apologies in advance if this seems silly, but for the life of me, I cannot find workout tops that aren’t cropped and/or bodycon. If I find a full length workout top, it’s either super tight-fitting or if I try and buy a few sizes too big, just looks silly because it’s not how it’s intended to be worn.

My dream workout top is a tank that hits my hips, isn’t made to be tight, and has a lower cut hemline so my chest isn’t sweaty.

Any recs welcome, please help a girl out 🙏

Fashion 👒 Dressed that end mid thigh?

Went to a few stores today and the dresses I tried on were comical. I thrifted a dress years ago that perfectly fit and went mid thigh. Unfortunately misplaced it and I miss having a cute dress. In store seems to only have dresses that sit right at my ass 🫩

I’m 6ft, no set budget, I have a 36D bust and wear M/L. Looking for something that will fit the boobs and length of my body feels impossible

Fashion 👒 Where can I find a cute AND comfy set with long pants?

Post image
24 Upvotes

I bought this set from SHEIN, and I absolutely love the material and the fit. The only problem is that the pants are ridiculously short on me 😭

I tired sizing up to a L but the pants were still short and the shirt just fit too big. I also tried two different sets from their Tall section, but one had really rough/heavy material, and the other had an insanely thick waistband that pressed into me waaay too much, and I don’t think it was sizing issue. The quality and design just weren’t it.

So, does anyone know where I can find a cute, comfy lounging set with soft material and pants that actually fit?

I’m willing to spend a little more if anyone has a strong recommendation that is more pricey, but budget friendly would be preferred. Please give me your recommendations!

Hi all!

Fall is here and I’m searching for a fall coat (references in the pictures above) for tall girls. For references I’m ~6’1 and I’m based in Canada.

I’d prefer recommendations for stores in North America but I’m okay with other locations aswell.

I’m specifically looking for a peacoat but I’m open to other styles.

Thanks in advance! 🫶

✨ CW: BODY TALK ✨ how to gain weight? Spoiler

CONTENT WARNING!!! discussions of EDs & weight!!

(need advice from all my gym girlies especially)

hey guys! this is a bit of a vulnerable post but no biggie, i’m after some genuine tips and tricks on how to gain weight as a 5’11 woman. :)

for some backstory, i’m 20 and i have always been really skinny and lanky. i’ve been 60-65kg since i was 14 and haven’t gained nor lost weight. however, ive got a very athletic build and despite being in the “healthy range” i am severely lacking in strength and have multiple nutrient deficiencies. i’ve never really had an eating disorder, i just have really weird hunger cues and often forget. for the record, i DO eat 3 meals almost every day but it’s simply not enough. i burn far more than i gain.

it’s getting to the point where i am desperate to gain weight and trying to set a goal of 75kg, that way i am at a genuinely healthy weight for myself and i can start going to the gym.

i really need some tips and tricks and not just “eat more.” what has helped you guys?

Shopping 🏬 Where are you getting cute shoes?

I wear a men’s 12 narrow or a women’s 14 regular. Because of this I exclusively buy men’s shoes, but the options that come in narrow are very limited. Also, I hate wearing men’s dress shoes at work. Right now my rotation is a black and white tennis shoe, a brown men’s loafer, and a couple pair of dr martins. I would love something a little cuter! I know there are websites that sell women’s shoes aimed at drag queens, but I would really like to try them on because shoes designed for men just don’t fit my feet well because I have a traditional female foot shape, my feet are just huge.

Yes I am very tall, yes I was assigned female at birth, I am taller than both my parents and wear bigger shoes than my dad
