Human vs. Timer long exposure photography inside a ttc tunnel at 4am - no subway cars were hurt or delayed because of this photo. I had permission, so this was not ‘illegal’. Photo taken in 2018.
Gerrard and Greenwood. 506 approaching intersection and instead of the light turning red it stayed green past the pedestrian crossing signs and turn yellow as the car was through the box. What happened there.
You've all probably been in the same shoes as me. I was running for my bus at a bus station and believe me it was the only bus near that area and the driver saw me running and just left me and it takes 20 minutes for another bus to leave the station on the weekend. I've also been on the buses when they deliberately leave people so why do they do that? An extra 10s is not gonna hurt them. Just ranting here since I'm kinda frustrated today with that.
Also, there are some drivers who just wait when they see some people running to their buses. Love y'all though but most of them are just pricks
Because of the recent addition of the Scarborough Busway, I think there should be more busways in the future! Like a Dixon Busway. What are your thoughts on adding more busways in the future?
Below is an image of the display at King Station eastbound. It only shows the expected wait times for Subways, which anyway operate on a standard 2-5 min frequency. This stop caters to 503, 504, 508 and night streetcars which have erratic wait times due to bunching and gapping. TTC already has all this data, and it seems like a pure waste of digital real estate to not show it. Unless this is just a "pilot" however this display has been up for a while now so not sure what's the excuse.
I've wondered why for the longest time why the Finch Hydro Corridor is just a long patch of grass with a tiny bike/walking path in the middle. I figured, why not use some more of that space?
Ergo, here is the Line 6 East Extension. It doesn't have many of the problems that plagued the construction of Line 6, and many of the problems with its operation, because there is so much less interaction with traffic and traffic lights. TSP shouldn't be a problem at all; it only crosses a handful of intersections, while keeping the majority of connectivity.
I'm sure this map can be picked apart in its current state (particularly with station placement and a bridge over G. Ross Lord might be a pain), but I think the concept is fun and potentially useful.
The MetroDreamin map terminates at McCowan, but it really doesn't have to. It could stop at Old Cummer, or even just at Yonge. I haven't seen much of this idea online, so I figured I'd try it for size.
Wanted to acknowledge two positive actions I experienced on TTC yesterday.
First, several POOs were checking passenger tickets at Queens Quay and Union streetcar stations, although I could see some folks backtracking the entrance to Union once they saw the officers checking. So maybe having one officer stand at the back would catch those culprits.
Second, I heard the subway train driver announce the delay due to the slow down zone at Davisville which is helpful to improve awareness amongst readers.
If you drive the 100/54/954/162/191 and a customer is asking for directions: the 72 takes them directly to the door with the elevator entrance.
The station itself has no elevator for some years to come and the only one is across the street at the random entrance that is way outside the station. Please do not tell elderly or disabled people to walk around the large block and double cross. It’s dangerous and not necessary
I’m aware many drivers may not be on their regular route or may be RAD drivers so I try to let them know - but today I got yelled at by a 54 driver for trying to tell this old woman to take the 72. He told her to walk alll the way with her walker, yelled at me for trying to give correct directions, then 10 minutes later when my 72 bus left we drove by her and she was sitting in the walker CRYING
please tell fellow drivers so in the case that any customers ask, they can give effective directions. or if you notice customers “butting in” your convo please consider they might just know the right directions
before anyone suggests calling customer service: I tried but I give up they are too combative. My recent experiences are unrelated but I’ve called before about the directions issue
With Lines 5, 6 and the Scarborough busway all recently opening, it feels like we're about to enter a dearth of new transit projects opening anytime soon. Probably not till after 2030.
Which project is going to open first?
- Line 5 Western extension
- Scarborough subway extension
- Yonge North Subway extension
- Ontario Line
