After seeing a lot of videos online of Smallville clips, I decided to give it a try and I must say that there were a couple of shots that took me by surprise. Now, I'm no cinephile, but I definitely can appreciate great cinematography, so here are a couple that I loved.

1. The red blanket under Clark's jacket, looking like his iconic cape. Great addition.

2. Clark being perfectly positioned in front of the angel statue; this one speaks for itself.

3. Apart from the foreshadowing, I was a fan of this.

4. Great zoom-out.

Overall, I see why people enjoy this show. It's that classic monster-of-the-week/X-files story structure with elements of a classic superhero, and I love how it structures Clark's upbringing. The soundtrack is also a nice touch. I'm curious to see what direction the show takes, as 10 seasons is definitely a lot to take in, but I'm all for live-action Superman.

I grew up watching this show, and to this day, Tom Welling is still my favorite Superman of all time!
I’ll admit, the pilot was amazing, but the show started off a little slow for me. As the seasons went on, especially toward the end when it started diving deeper into comic book territory, I fell in love with it even more.
But what really made Smallville special to me wasn’t just the superhero stuff. It was the life lessons and values that came with it.
• It reinforced the same morals and values my parents raised me with.
• It taught me that not everyone is born a bad person and that people can change.
• It taught me to look for different solutions before resorting to extreme measures.
• It inspired me to see the good in people, even when others don’t.
• It reminded me that doing the right thing isn’t always easy, but it’s still worth doing.
Whenever I’m feeling down or lost, I rewatch Smallville. It always helps clear my mind

Just read this issue and was shocked at how incredibly vile Lex’s behaviour is, but not just evil, believably terrible behaviour of the super elite, just set in the fantastical world of a comic book. He has Lana tortured, murders a guy with a smile on his face and essentially forces a female employee into his bedroom😳
Was not expecting that from a mid 80’s comic, I read this when I was a kid too but don’t think the implications really landed when I was 10 haha

Pre-Crisis Superman putting his indestructible and elastic cape that can protect people wrapped in it in inhospitable environments to good use.

I’ve been reading the John Byrne run of Superman, I got to this Happersen character and I thought this guy looks really familiar… it’s not that guy from the Control room in the Superman 2025 movie is it? It definitely is! I feel like they very specifically went for this look and nailed it. I thought it was cool.

Also, Lex Luther is a psychopath.

The end of Adventure Comics #5 has Laurie come back to Prime after he screams about how he’s regretful about what he did to Laurie, and while its never explicitly stated the fact that Laurie is seen with a black lantern ring heavily implies Prime killed her off-screen. I kinda don’t like Prime x Laurie now cause I feel like this scene strips her of her agency to make Prime feel better about himself. Hopefully the Superboy Prime special (which confirms Prime will try to return to his home world) addresses this and does Laurie’s character some justice.

There are plenty of games where the main character would be theoretically too powerful, such as God of War, Devil May Cry, Bayonetta, etc. The thing about these characters is that their powerset can be boiled down to just slashing and punching things really hard, Superman on the other hand can fly at the speed of sound, freeze things instantly, hear things from the other side of the world, laser vision as well as punching things really hard, making it more difficult to incorporate such a diverse powerset in a way that feels faithful to the character and simulatenously balanced

That being said it's far from impossible, I think a good example of a game that does this right are the Dragon Ball games, sure, their powerset can be boiled down to just punching things and shooting energy blasts, but I think it's a good basis

To borrow a phrase from a popular animated film from that other flagship superhero franchise, a "canon event" is basically a significant event that is "baked into" the mythos and occurs across most, if not all, iterations/adaptations of the franchise. For instance, according to the Spider-Verse movies which originated the term, the spider-bite, the death of Gwen Stacy, and a police officer close to Spider-Man dying, are all among the "canon events" of the Spider-Man mythos.

So what are the "canon events" for the Superman franchise?

My picks:

1. Krypton's explosion and Jor-El and Lara sending Kal-El to earth.

2. The Kents finding Kal-El's rocketship and adopting him, naming him Clark.

3. Clark growing up in Smallville and developing powers during his childhood/adolescence.

4. Clark moving to Metropolis and making his debut as Superman.

5. Clark getting a job as a reporter at the Daily Planet (or Daily Star) under Editor-in-Chief Perry White (or George Taylor) and meeting Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen.

6. Superman encountering kryptonite at some point in his life/career and also discovering his alien origins.

7. Superman crossing paths with Lex (or Alexei) Luthor.

8. Superman fighting General Zod and/or other Kryptonian villains who arrive on earth.

9. Superman and/or Clark forming some kind of romantic relationship with Lois Lane, which most likely culminates in marriage at some point.

10. Superman dying (or appearing to die) and most likely being resurrected.

11. The arrival of Superman's cousin Kara (or some other young woman with powers) who becomes Supergirl (or Power Girl).

12. If other heroes exist, Superman becoming a friend (or tenuous) ally of Batman's, as well as becoming a member of the Justice League (or Justice Society).

13. Superman and Lois having at least one child at some point, who will most likely inherit his powers.

14. One or both of Clark's adoptive parents dying at some point during his life/career.

15. Superman having some involvement with the Legion of Superheroes from the 30th/31st century.

Not every adaptation or iteration of Superman and his mythos covers all of these. But given enough time and scope, they cover most of these, sometimes (rather, often) with some tweaks.

All the fights Superman and Giganta had from the Justice League cartoon.

I Just finished Reading Red Son(really liked It) but i wanted to get into main universe Superman.

Title. There are 3 ongoing Superman titles being released. What is the purpose of having 3 of them? There is Action Comics, Superman Unlimited, and Superman. I am reading Superman (Volume 6) and I know what is going on there, there was the SuperCorp storyline, then he goes to an evil future working with Superboy Prime, there's also future Doomsday who becomes the Timekeeper, this is just a general gist of the volume. I know what's happening there. But with the Kingdom of Zod storyline being a cross over between all Super-titles, what are the other two Superman series?

Do you people keep up with all 3 titles? I am not interested in doing that, I have too many heroes I like to spread my attention over but are you Super-fans built different?

It's funny how she dislikes Catwoman for being a freak, and then it's later revealed that she and Supes are freaks as well.
