I was annoying that no speech apps allowed you to interact with your streamed windows desktop even the paid ones. So here you go frameassist either native frame only or with the windows helper https://github.com/Oliver-S3/frameassist
It's free have fun It helps me and I only made it for myself but wanted to share it. Not sure what I'll add next.

One of the things I've always wanted to do was use my Android phone or retro gaming devices in bed without having to hold it above my head and risk dropping it on my face or losing all feelings in my arms. At first, I tried the XReal AR glasses. After trying to really like them, I couldn't get over how uncomfortable they got resting on the bridge of my nose while lying down. Not to mention never quite getting used to the narrow FOV.
A week ago, I released scrcpy4Frame (see previous post). It is a wrapper around scrcpy that allows you to mirror your Android device onto an overlay inside VR. Since then, I've personally used it a lot since it helps me achieve my goal of doomscrolling reddit in bed in comfort. Initially, I only included wireless capabilities since it was more convenient. But while on travel, I realized that I don't always have access to a WIFI network, so I added a feature to mirror though USB. Now, I just plug a USB cable from my phone to my Frame, and r/AITA and Super Mario Galaxy into the wee hours. In an ironic twist of fate, the XReal Hub that I bought that's went past the return period turned out to be an fantastic way to connect my phone and my Frame while also powering them both.
Hopefully other people will find this useful. As I'm actively using this myself, I'm always finding new ways to improve the experience. If you have any questions or issues, hit me up on Github.
https://github.com/xhuytox/scrcpy4Frame
Bonus: Browsing Reddit while watching Frieren, because I have a problem...
TLDR: scrcpy4Frame now comes in USB flavor

I've been on the reservation list since day 1 announcement, I had a bit going on this week at work and my emails never pushed notifications on my phone, I check the emails today (Saturday) and now it's back to the wait list for me 😭😭

I missed this morning’s US restock by 2 hours, and since I ordered my frame yesterday, I do want to have hand straps and a head strap in time for when it arrives. I ask because I know some third party battery covers block the IR and finger tracking sensors to some extent on the controllers, and I refuse to buy a legit kit from a scalper. Thanks!

I'm not entirely sure how to title this, but I'm suddenly having tons of problems keeping a good stream between my PC and frame when I wasn't having any issues at all for the past week. Multi-link will show massive packet loss between 50-80% on both the dongle and the Wi-Fi connection before terminating the stream. trying to restream without entirely resetting both devices gives me a very low bit-rate grainy image. nothing about my setup has changed, and I'm curious if anyone else is suddenly having issues or knows how to fix something like this?

Ordered some HonsVR lenses as the options to Canada are somewhat limited in availability (Zenni still isn’t shipping here) and long lead times (VR Optician showing 3-4 weeks not including ship time)
HonsVR was showing 2-5 days for manufacturing.
Delivery:
Ordered October 11, shipped from China October 16, arrived at my door October 23.
I live in Canada. I used the free shipping option
Lenses were air shipped, then they used a courier I’ve never heard of GOFO? For the final delivery which took 3 days after they landed here.
Slightly less than 2 week turn around from order to delivery. So no issues there.
Product:
The lenses fit snug on the headset, not super tight, you need a bit of a tug to release them, no concerns with them potentially coming off.
My prescription appears perfect, was a bit concerned because I have astigmatism corrected lens for both eyes. My left eye is pretty bad with distance correction at -4.75.
I also picked up their non-prescription Plano lenses since they were relatively cheap. (photo on the yellow paper is the Plano, photo on the frame is my prescription). You can see the thickness difference between the Plano and prescription.
I tried an eye tracker test before and after the install, no discernible difference with/without the lenses, doesn’t appear to impede the eye tracking.
Overall no complaints, quality seems good, fit is good, shipping didn’t take forever. Comes with a carrying case and a cleaning cloth.

Can any of you guys confirm if the Steam Frame is marked for weekend delivery eligibility? My original shipping estimation was 5 days ago and i'm constantly watching the horrible FedEx tracker website alternate between "definitive" delivery dates and "oops sorry someone messed up and we don't have a date for you". My problem is that i'm going on a work retreat on Monday and truly might cry if this thing can't get to me for another 2 days while it's finally sitting in my state (if they are to even be trusted). I am amazed how many of you guys are reporting fast smooth deliveries while i'm sitting at 2 weeks of being jerked around by the worst carrier service on the planet.

I got my email and ordered last Friday night, the package shipped but it’s moving like one town per day via FedEx. The delivery date estimate is today and it keeps slowly moving further and further from me. Like it has gone from California to New Mexico, Oklahoma, Montana, and now it’s in Indiana. Meanwhile I live in Georgia. Just a scared post bc I want the device in hand, any thoughts?

Finally placed my order!!!! Unfortunately the ergo kit was out of stock. I keep hearing people complaining about the light coming from under the nose, so I was hoping maybe someone found an alternative?

Had the steam frame for 3 days now, the charging is extremely slow, takes a whole day for 40-50% and dies slowly even when kept plugged in. Using an 80w charging brick while plugged in but this thing does not want to stay alive.

After having a lot of smudges on my lenses out of the box and a little scratch on my right lense, I got an RMA.
Today my second unit arrived and…. Let’s say I’m really disappointed.
2 scratches on the left lens, and it’s not dirt, can’t wipe it.
I thought, perhaps it’s not prominent in VR, played a little bit HL2VR in standalone mode and I was right, the scratches were not noticeable.
I decided to watch some YouTube to check the experience there and yeah, there was a black spot on the right display/lense moving with my view noticeably in bright backgrounds….
Can’t believe this. I had vive, vive pro, index and quest 3. Never experienced so much trouble. I hope I get an advanced RMA, if not, I’m thinking about a return.
Guess I wanted to rant a little… is there anyone that got an advanced rma?
Edit with photos:

Seems tiny, but in the headset it’s really distracting

I've had my Frame for about 3 weeks, I've had a few teething problems but nothing major at all and now I absolutely love the headset.
I decided to purchase the Arcturus Camera. Now when the camera is installed, the headset crashes within a 5-20 minute window. If I remove the camera then the Frame will continue to run no issue, but once I install it again then the Frame crashes as before.
Has anyone else had a similar issue and was able to fix it?
EDIT: I’m on the stable OS for the Frame. Yes the camera is fully inserted.
UPDATE: Seems like it may actually just be one of those weird issues that arises from the right combinations of games/refresh rates and using the camera for passthrough all at the same time.
Also I can’t rate the customer support from Arcturus better! They’re great! Thanks for the help both of you!

I don't have a big room for the Steam Frame and the need of constantly teleportation bothered me.
This evening I thought:
Let's go to the local soccer field.
First I made a big playing field then a small, but nothing works.
Often it even looks like Steam Frame thought it would be in the space.
The Windows was flowing in all directions. I am still a bit dizzy...
Even when it looks like its a "little bit" working, when i go in real life, i don't move in half life alyx ingame...
It looks like the Steam Frame need walls to orientate.
That's a pitty.
Is it really not possible or do i have to change something?

Hope everyone is enjoying their Friday. I was one of the people who ended up buying 3rd party hand straps and head strap after the ergo kit was sold out. Admittedly, when I first used the spigen hand straps I thought the hand tracking was overblown (finger tracking was seemingly fine in Alyx) until I really started using it, especially on Expert and above in Beat Saber. Then really noticed it with the upside down test and it was one of those things where once you notice it, it’s hard to forget. This led my down a big rabbit hole on how to try and resolve it as I already had the AMVR head strap which I do find to be far superior to the Steam one and didn’t want to shell out another $60 for the ergo kit (no 3D printer also).
I found an image online that had the locations of the IR LED trackers on the controllers and had the idea of trying a hole puncher for leather belts. Initially, I just poked holes for the location of the IR LED trackers but still had tracking issues. Over the last couple of days I’ve tried more and more holes thinking about blockage and scattering and kept comparing it to the naked controllers. In the end, I ended up just cutting as many holes as possible without compromising the structural integrity of the sleeve but have to say, after trying so many iterations and it still drifting, I am almost doubting what I’m seeing in my tests. I will need to really get into it this weekend but I was able to do some Expert songs on Beat saber and it’s passing the upside down test.
So hopefully, if you are also unsatisfied with the Spigen hand wraps but don’t want to return them, give this a try; it did take quite a while to poke all these holes out. I used the largest hole setting and some smaller variations to fill in gaps. I found a cheap $10 hole puncher on Amazon which hopefully will come in handy for any belts in the future too 😂.

I've had it the controllers for a tiny while before I had gotten busy and left the headset and controller in my cabinet where it sat still.
This issue most seemed to happen after it "extracted files" the update may of bricked my left controller i guess?
Mind you I've changed the batterys, I've put the right controllers battery into this one to see if if it would boot yet there's no sign. The battery itself is at 89% it's well over the limit for boot limits.
Further info being the controller turns on and connects with it's main battery but after a few seconds blinks red and closes

I find this to be a great way to fold up the frame. I do have my Zenni lenses as well as the polishing cloth to protect the Frame lenses from the battery. I'm comfortable wrapping it in a t-shirt or other small cloth and tossing it in a backpack or suitcase like this. But, what do I do with the controllers?

I thought it would be native since its buîld in? Talking pcvr not standalone
r/SteamFrame • u/Infinite_Article5003 • 6h ago
I feel like every lens has some sort of issue. And is it just best for people who can't get zenni lenses to sit out for a moment? How long? I mean? I've had the frame for so long but I haven't used it at all really.. need inserts.
I keep seeing issues about eye tracking being problematic for the lenses... Which is concerning... That's kind of important...
What about zenni, is the eye tracking on that one also questionable? Because if the one with valves tick of approval isn't doing great I'd be a little concerned.

I've noticed if I click the room view off so the Aurora shows and then go back to room view, the Aurora is overlayed on top of the passthrough camera image though partly translucent. Clicking between them then doesn't ever seem to bring back the passthrough camera on its own.
Has anyone else experienced this and know of a fix by any chance?

Using a DIY board, 3d printing nonsense, Babble Frame Runtime, and a USB C splitter, I'm able to use a wired face tracker. Definitely going to clean up the mount itself, but I was surprised how easy this was. Love this headset.
It's not pretty, but this is just to get what I used on my Index working until they release their new tracker for the front port.

wha wah! should I even bother?
It has been..lets see...5 weeks since I got the email that I was on "the list" to get one and just need to wait for my buy email where I would have 3 days to make my purchase.
Are they waiting to see how the first couple of batches pan out before possibly making tweaks and sending out another batch? I would not mind this of course, but I am doubtful. I am suspecting that its the memory crisis and yadda yadda whatever shortage you can pick out of the hat exists for a number of reasons.
BUT.... for the people who have one do you think this is even an upgrade for someone who will be playing ED for the most part. I don't even know, I haven't played ED in a few years since I began playing flat games again exclusively and then sold my lighthouse ecosystem. When the Frame list dropped I said oh cool this might be the headset to bring me back to ED and VR.
Should I get a frame or just save some money and get the flagship meta headset for VR which allows me to wire to my computer and thus my high end (2 gens old lol) /s video card to play ED and VR games?
I used to collect headsets, but I was getting tired of just staring at them and wanted someone else to get some use out of them so I sold them for a good price to another human. So for you guys who still have multiple ecosystems and headsets AND play ED what is your opinion here? Wait or just jump out of the line?
The news of nvidia abandoning us gamers has me thinking of all these questions. I have been quietly waiting for the 6000 series to drop so I could buy a 5090 for less than 5000 but now that they canceled the 5090 to make the pro 6000s I am a bit unsure of my decision making process here.
I am almost tempted to try the next gen AMD card when/if it comes out in the relative near future.
Yeah there are a lot of topics in this stream of consciousness post but if you want to jump in I will read your comments!

I see a lot of places that utilize comes with a USB-C charge cable but not how long it is. I am away from home and wanted to order a shorter one to use before I get back. How long is the cable that comes with it?
