Why is you post not appearing?

Reddit has lots of mysterious algorithms for examining every post. They don’t tell us but it’s obvious from the ones here that your post likely will be removed for these reasons:

  1. You have no karma because you created a new user account to post.
  2. You’re selling or offering to pay for some service.
  3. Their AI thinks your account is sleazy

1 and 2 together seem to be the key factors in Reddits automated removal.

I look at every removed post and will approve any post that appears legitimate. Sorry if your post doesn’t make it. I remove very few posts on my own.

Update on a rental posts policy

Too many. I have listened to the majority of people who don’t care but there are too many and force other posts out of the recent list.

So I’m going to change the policy from no restrictions to something a bit more proactive.

Posters are now required to remove posts once they are no longer active (found a spot or rented one offered). You’re on the honor system.

Posts will be removed by moderation automatically after 10 days regardless of their status. Note this will be a manual operation until/if it can be automated by automod.

Subscribers are free to repost if they like which will restart the clock. Unfortunately removed posts cannot be restored so the OP will need to reenter it.

I hope this is a good compromise which still respects the wishes of the subscribers.

Thanks.

PT job boards

• Upvotes

Hi all, I have several job openings in food service (i.e., waitstaff) and customer service, mostly nights. Where do folks look for jobs besides LinkedIn and Indeed, which we already use... the facebook boards locally seem full of spammy garbage.

art classes

Hello all,

Our CCRC has lost its resident art teacher. Does anyone know of an art teacher, instructor, student who would like to make some extra money teaching our residents? Years ago when I was looking to hire someone, I contacted the local community college whose professor sent me his very talented student. She did a bang up job for us, but I've not been successful with that route. Difficult to get anyone's email address to inquire. Any suggestions?

Non student living (grocery stores, entertainment etc) questions

Hello

I am potentially going to be moving from Bucks County to Penn State for my partners job.

I'd like to know if you are willing to share:

What is the healthcare access like? Especially emergency care for humans and for pets. And also for specialists and general medical care. Pharmacy as well- local or chains. If you have a lot of medical needs and see multiple specialists do you have to travel more than 30 minutes to see someone?

Grocery stores- is there a good amount of ethnic food available or is it mostly "american" food options? Indian, Asian, Middle Eastern grocers for example, Spanish and eastern European, any other stand out places.

In person shopping for things like home goods and clothes, shoes, artisan crafts and bulk/refill stores.

Public transit - both within the city and connected to other cities and towns. How would you get to the airport? How late/often do the busses run?

Things to do- plays and movies; music like symphonies, operas, live bands; restaurants; parks, hiking trails, lakes or rivers for boating ;game stores with regularly scheduled games in person. Anything else you can think of.

Community - like events held for locals - block parties or festivals.

Nearby towns or other things to do within 1 hour drive.

Housing options? Renting first, but eventually buying a home.

I know it's going to be a bit more spread out than I am used to living in the nj/PA area and so close to major cities. I wouldnt mind tbh having a larger plot of land and be able to raise chickens even as long as it's not more than 30 minutes to get into town.

Thanks!

Lost my passport on a bus last weekend - white Coach bag, you can keep the bag

Hi everyone,

Last Sunday I left a white Coach bag on the NV bus around noon, and my passport and wallet were inside. If anyone found it, I’d really appreciate hearing from you.

Honestly, you can keep the bag. All I’m after is my passport. If you’d rather not send the wallet back, that’s fine too. The passport is the one thing I can’t easily replace.

My address is on the state ID in the wallet, so you’re welcome to drop everything off at the clubhouse there. You can also leave it at any of the commons on campus. Or just DM me and I’ll happily cover postage or meet you somewhere public.

Thank you so much for reading this.

Seamstress for Significant Alterations

My teen has a romper and a dress that she asked me to convert into blouses. I really don’t want to try to do that and would rather pay a seamstress, but I think it’s beyond what they do at like the cleaners. Any recommendations?

Food Assistance

I’m trying to get a better understanding of what food assistance resources are available in the State College area and surrounding communities. Asking for a dear friend of mine.

I’m aware of the larger food banks and church pantries, but I’m curious about smaller or lesser-known resources like community fridges, little free pantries, blessing boxes, food distribution programs, etc.

Does anyone know of any in State College, Bellefonte, Boalsburg, Centre Hall, Pleasant Gap, or nearby areas? I’m particularly interested in where they’re located, who can access them, and whether there are any restrictions

Have you had any luck selling a car in SC?

I'm a grad student and don't have time in my schedule to deal with a private sale, even though i know that's where I'd get the most value. Mechanically sound just old and dinged up, and I'm not trading it in as i have a family vehicle lined up. Any used car lots/buyers offering over scrap value?

Weekend Trips

Hi all! I’m relatively new to State College and I’ve noticed there are not many weekend flea markets, farmers markets, or Amish markets nearby.

What are your favorite flea markets, farmers markets, and Amish markets within an hour drive of state college? I miss fresh Saturday morning donuts (there are surprisingly very little donut options in town) and I love to shop local/family business.

I also LOVE to thrift and go antiquing. I’ve done all of the places in the nearby towns, but if y’all have any suggestions that are also within an hour drive, I would love to hear them!

The sign “RIGHT TURN SIGNAL” does NOT mean you cannot make a right on red, if safe to do so. The sign: “NO TURN ON RED” means that you cannot make a right on red.

I’m so tired of having to sit behind ignorant drivers who don’t know how to correctly interpret signs. Please educate yourselves.

Electrician recommendations?

Looking for an honest and trustworthy electrician or handyman for two small projects: adding an outlet to our garage and also doing the conversion work so we can upgrade to a microwave over the range when we buy a new oven. We are just outside of State College proper. Thanks!

Has anybody used Frank the Tank car detailing? He has a lot of reviews but mostly in Colorado. I think they just moved here. Looks like they can do both interior and exterior but was wondering if anybody had first hand experience. Thanks!
