General Discussion - No Story Details What Jacket is Frank Harkness wearing in S6? Is it Barbour?
closest I have found is a fake website to purchase but no idea outside of that!

Wondering where I can find a fake push knife for halloween…not a lot of luck that I’m finding online. Any help or alternate names for it?

It had everything I ever wanted from slow horses.
Long gun battles,
shoot outs,
close combat fights
grenades flying everywhere
EXPLOSIONS
PEW PEW PEW
Harpoons going through stomaches
And I was afraid we would never find out how the russians tracked our heroes.
or why our heroes were walking in the middle of the road while being chased
or why our heroes never wondered how they were tracked.
Luckily after this gun battle and this shooting and those explosions I have no more questions.
I truly enjoyed this final episode and will try to keep following this subreddits rules of only posting positive things
like how harkness had the goal of killing one person. Sees that person through the glass and instead of shooting that person, you know like his goal was. He instead throws a smoke grenade in there. Like a real grenade would've just killed everyone and that would be unfair, as would be killing his target. Then we wouldn't have a long drawn out shoot out with explosions! and the longer the shoot out the better the episode!
But then the horses didn't try to take the weapons away from any guy that they got down which was also real fair. So the battle could go so much longer. Just all along real fair play by everyone! I love that! Fairness points to everyone
PEW PEW EXPLOSION
Fuck all that boring dialogue, that witty banter, those witty insults. When I could understand everyones moves even when they were flawed. I always found thos parts of slow horses the most boring.
we aren't here to watch some people talk, or do they best to achieve their goal, we are here for explosion. PEW PEW PEW

I think the filmmakers did an overall excellent job combining books for season 6. However, this scene from book 6 belonged in this season.
All of the setup was there: Catherine found out about Partner, bought a bottle of wine, and nearly lapped up wine from the table when everyone was fighting. You're telling me after losing Coe and Emma in the same week Catherine just got over it on her own? Lamb and her are just back to teasing each other on the phone like a divorced couple? Water under the bridge.
The filmmakers are afraid to adapt this scene, straight up. Because Jackson Lamb would have to eat crow for straight up lying to Catherine's face in season 1 and for being such a manipulative force in her life. This is one of the most important scene from the books, but I think the absence of this scene in season 6 means this will remain material from the books which didn't make the cut.

It’s a very funny line which I first heard/read in Martin Amis autobiography Experience
It was a pet phrase of his father, the novelist Kingsley Amis.
“Off we fuck” indeed

I thought that the way his behaviour was understood -- him being a shit teammate, betraying Shirley's orders, abandoning their one fucking professional charge, and being a vain dumbass -- which was protection of that child -- was SO EMOTIONALLY LEGIBLE
but I was kind of amazed by the fact I felt he -- like a real person -- loved Flyte? A woman who deeply disdained him! It was like he lost he lost his own kin?
He's really inexperienced with death. I don't know why that really punched me in the solarplex.
He's not a good shot. But he showed up. The LION LIVES!
HE CANNOT GET IN THE FIELD OR BRITAIN WILL DIE

Binging the show, and up to 5.4 currently. James Callis plays the simpering fool wonderfully, but when he steps up and grows a backbones it's electric.
Have dodged spoilers without issue, so hope he gets more story as we go along.

I’ve seen quite a bit of criticism of this season on here, so I just wanted to share a different perspective. Honestly, I thought it was incredible, and it might actually be my favourite season so far.
I really enjoyed the story, and also loved the music this season. It added so much to the atmosphere. They got creative with it, or idk how to explain it, but it made everything feel so much more intense.
I totally respect that not everyone feels the same way, and I’m not trying to invalidate the criticism. I just wanted to share my appreciation for the season as well, since I’ve seen quite a few negative opinions on here.
Did anyone else love this season as much as I did, or am I in the minority here?
P.S.: Unfortunately I’m not a book reader, but I recently bought the first one, so I’m about to start reading them as well!

I just remembered this now - she now kind of has to know that her lover was murdered by Lamb, right? This almost has her drinking again, but it is like that thread of information disappeared through the season. Ok, they kind of had to think about not dying, I know. I hope it is addressed in S7, because character of Standish wouldn't let this pass.

Spoilers for how their S6 finale meeting happened in the show vs the books, beware!
I loved their meeting in episode 6 so much, the show has always been far better than the books at having actual conversations between characters. River seemed exhausted, he was injured, and suddenly just didn't have the energy to hold on to all the rage he had for his father. Between losing his grandfather, fighting off assassins, finding Sid then losing her again, Taverner's willingness to sacrifice Sid to the Russians, Coe's death he just seemed 100% done, And of course, Frank had just saved his life. And at the core of all those emotions what he was really truly angry about was that he couldn't have just had a normal Dad.
I hated that their meeting in the books was so short, and ended with River kind of shoving him off then just... walking away to go do something else????? There was zero closure between the characters, River never mentions him again (as far as I know, I haven't finished reading book 9, please no Clown Town spoilers!), and Harkness dies through a convoluted plot by Lamb in basically just a post-script of the book.
I wonder if leaving him alive in the show may mean they intend for the character to come back at some point...?

This is why this show needs its Emmy, Bafta and whatever they can be nominated for! Loved this pattern of having a Nick Drake song at the end of the season finale episode. Whoever is the music director deserves a raise ga damn it

"Off I fuck" is my favorite non Lamb line from Slow Horses.
Peter Judd will be back in Avengers Doomsday

I didn't capture a screen shot, but in the opening scene of the camera scrolling over the graffiti in the toilets where Russian lady is, there's a graffiti scribble that reads BOEHM with the the B written in reverse.

Nice wee nod to “Down Cemetery Road”’s Zoe, with the Cyrillic B to make you think it’s in Mother Russia.

I'm obviously missing something here. Could someone point out where my reasoning goes wrong?
The neighbour says someone has been in the house for a few days. He goes over to the house and touches the crowbar. That's the part I understand.
What I don't get is why Sid hasn’t moved the crowbar during the few days she’s been there.
Please explain why.

Seeing Roddy Ho genuinely sad made me tear up. Roddy’s actor actually killed the scenes from when he finds Emma’s body through the end. I don’t think we’ve seen Roddy sad the entire series. He’s too much of a narcissistic prick. So seeing him be affected by Emma, and being unable to defend himself caught me by surprise.

Taverner just keeps on failing upwards. Despite all the serious crimes and gaffes she has committed, she has never been held accountable. It's quite infuriating to keep seeing her succeed knowing she's responsible for so many atrocities and getting so many slow horses killer. She just easily pinned her fuck ups on Judd and Damien and got off Scott free.
I hope there is some justice coming for her in the next few seasons.
