PLEASE TAKE THIS INTO CONSIDERATION ON YOUR 2014-2018 CHEVY 1500s

Hello everyone I posted this same video a couple weeks ago freaking out thinking my lifters were done because they are so common on these trucks.

I was almost certain that it was my lifters after talking to a mechanic and reading everything online. I was literally about to fully commit to the 6500 dollar AFM delete.

After doing a bit more of investigating myself because I found it weird that it would only make that sound at a certain temp and when I would hit the breaks….

IT WAS NOT LIFTERS.

These trucks have their own vaccum pump system for the breaks and when they start to fail they make a ticking noise that sounds a lot like lifters just like this.

Moral of the story, before breaking the bank to get new lifters or an AFM delete. I would definitely consider looking into your vaccum pump.

Mounting Rear Bowtie on 4th Gen Multi-Flex Tailgate

Post image
• Upvotes

I'm looking for exact position measurements for the rear bowtie emblem on the back of a 2024 Silverado Trailboss with Multi-Flex tailgate. Obviously it needs to be centred, but the vertical measurements are what I'm after (e.g., ___ " from the handle).

No dome/courtesy light 2011 K1500

New to me 2011 K1500 Silverado...got most of the initial minor fixes/maintenance done now and quite happy with it, but I've not been able to figure out the courtesy dome light NOT coming on when the door is opened. Associated fuses all check okay, manual switches all illuminate lights when clicked. Even the little dash dimmer/OH dial does turn them on when twisted left. Probably something stupid but I'm still stumped LOL. Ideas? TIA

2004 GMC Sierra new noise after knock sensor and oil sensor replacement

Trying to diagnose this new noise that started after replacing the knock sensors and oil pressure sensor. Truck is a 2004 GMC Sierra 1500, 5.3, 205,000 miles. The noise reminds me of the blend door actuator noise in a late 2000s Impala. It is coming more from the rear of the motor and seems louder when you get underneath it. It starts after about 2-3 minutes after starting the truck (cold or hot) and constantly makes the noise until 2500 RPM. When you idle down from there back to idle, it starts back up after a second or 2. Did not have a stethescope to use, but I used a screwdriver and could not hear the noise no matter where I poked. Also sprayed around the intake woth brake clean looking for a leak with no success.

2009 Silverado 4.8 Rough idle @cold start

Recently it got a lot colder here in Texas and my truck starter to do this thing where when it’s started cold the RPM fluctuates a lot..after 1-2 minutes it ceases and everything operates normally…and if you were to put it in drive it would sort of jump forward because of that same RPM fluctuation.

I hooked up a scanner and got two PENDING codes. Is this most likely just an intake gasket that seals once the truck gets warmed up? It seems weird tho that BOTH banks are running lead when this happens.

2.7 F150 vs 2.7 Silverado?

I’m about to upgrade from a 2011 Silverado 1500 LT Z71 extendo cab with the 5.3l v8.

I bought this truck in 2020, it had 55k miles. It’s been a champion. I have had no really issues with this truck. I have 115k on it now and it still runs like a beast but of course has the dreaded fender rust now. I also got this truck when I was not married and no kids. I am now married have two tiny terrorist.

I want another truck but crew cab. I won’t be doing much towing. Just loading the bed down for trips and my home DIY stuff.

I honestly love both. I live in Detroit, not far from where the F150 plant is and have connection to the company. Buttttt the Silverado was my first big boy buy when I got out the military and it’s been dead reliable.

I been shopping 2023-2025 (will likely do 2024) F150s and Silverados. I hear people says the f150 2.7 is like the best thing ever. I sometimes hear that for the Silverado 2.7, but I also hear it’s bad? Another thing I’ve noticed in my area at least, is that a same year Silverado is way cheaper than an f150 (my budget can fit either or but saving money is always good) And for some reason that makes me hesitant. Probably dumb I know. I get this is a Silverado sub but I’m just looking for any insight.

Just changed rear brakes and rotors. I put the truck into brake service mode. After I was done it never let me turn it off, I keep getting service parking brake. Any ideas on how to fix this?

I can’t clear it with my obd scanner either.

Looking to upgrade- advice needed (horse trailering)

Currently I have a 2021 Z71 Colorado with the tow package (7700 lbs). Love the thing to death, it’s my daily driver. The past 18 months I’ve hauled around a tiny 1800lb horse trailer (added brakes to the trailer & brake controlled to the truck) with one 1000lb horse. Hauled like a dream honestly.

Well life happened and now I suddenly have two large horses and a larger trailer that brings me up to just under 6000lbs. The Colorado isn’t going to cut it anymore unfortunately.

I’m looking to jump to a 2022-2026 1500 or 2500. I know diesel is better for towing and wear/tear. I need this vehicle to continue to be a daily driver, although I only go 30 mins away 3x weekly. I tow on average 2x a month, between 1-1.5 hours away for a horse show, with one 8 hour trip yearly. My gut tells me I should really probably jump straight to the 2500 for extra tow capacity. I would really prefer a gas version, as I have no experience with diesel.

Any thoughts/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Currently have no plans to upgrade to a gooseneck, but then again never thought I’d have two big horses 😅

ETA: one concern I have and a point in the 1500’s favor- I’m only 4’10. I already need a freaking step stool to get in the engine bay of the Colorado and have side steps on it. I’ve driven a 1500 before and was comfortable but have not yet test drove a 2500.

2006 Silverado 2500 gas that keeps having dead batteries.

Post image

Had a cheap battery in it that was testing bad so thought that was the problem. Put in a new battery and that worked for about a month or so now it’s dying overnight. The alternator is working and when the truck is on is putting out 14.45v. Checking the drain when the truck is off leads to a reading of 0.004 amps. This seems way too low for a parasitic drain issue. Any thoughts?

What’s the right choice

I’m looking to buy new tires for my 2021 Chevy Silverado RST Z71. Current tire is 275/60r20. I want to get a bigger tire and was looking at these options.

-285/60r20
-285/65r20
-275/65r20

I don’t have any lifts. Does anyone run these sizes without rubbing? Looking at the BF Goodrich KO3. Thanks for the help! Bonus for photos of your setup!

Replacement XM antenna doesn't work

I have a 2024 Silverado 1500 with the full infotainment system. Because my XM shark fin is covered by my truck camper setup, I needed to relocate the antenna.

I bought an XM antenna with the right (curry) Fakra adapter. After ripping apart my glovebox and dash, I found the Harman radio (INFO3.7-3.8 CSM). I pulled the old antenna out (XM stopped working) and plugged the new one in. XM continued to not work with a "Check antenna" message.

I have driven the car for a couple hours and nothing has changed. Before I blame the new antenna, I was wondering if there was any other suggestions. I thought about doing an "infotainment reset" in the options menu of the dash, but didn't know what else that would delete or impact.

I don't want to link to the item I purchased, but here is its description on Amazon: "Eightwood Mini Satellite Radio Antenna Fakra K Curry Female Connector. Compatible with Sirius XM Car Truck RV HD Hi-Fi Radio Stereo Receiver Tuner, 2320-2345MHz"

Anyone with a 3.0 duramax? Specifically the 2024

Just purchased. Doing this backwards, but what are your thoughts?

We really like it so far and we do ranch so the heavy half ton make sense later down the road. For now its a family car for reliablity. Its better on fuel than our suburban was!

Just wanting to get some feedback on this truck. Not a ton on reddit. My husband is deadset in getting the extended warranty before we get to expiration. I feel they are scams but he thinks its worth it with a diesel.

Recently have been greeted with a stabilitrak service warning. What is this and what should I be looking for? Truck doesn’t run or handle any differently since the light came on. The light will come one during driving.
