NO ENDLESS EDITION COMPARISONS we are playing 4e and only 4e. Each edition has similarities and differences and derailing the game to speak about it every 5 minutes stops play for something that often adds little to nothing to the game/session.
We are playing by the book mostly. But also not trying to rules lawyer til it hurts flow/play.
We are playing standard 400BP 12 Availability but we are doing 50/50 positive/negative qualities. YOU MUST UTILIZE THE FULL 50/50 FOR YOUR BUILD.
My aim is a game equal parts Robocop, and the original Predator. Not actually in the military. Id like my players to be a little more guided by a moral compass. And not a mindless k*ll squad, UNLESS thats what the job pays for. (We do mildless hunt Humanis VERY liberally) I want this game to be more grounded. You're a runner from the street. Trying to build a name. YOU ARENT THAT GUY... YET (and you may die long before you become that guy) I do like to play with 'slice of life' in mind. But I've had many people try to force highly problematic stories they want woven into my story. No just, No. I'm the storyteller. You are a character.
I do not run deckers/riggers. You will NOT convince me otherwise! I've heard all the arguments before.
I also do not allow characters to mix cyberware/bioware with magic. In 4e you end up limiting yourself when it comes to progession later in game. You cut yourself off at the knee (literally) during CC... ain't nobody got time for that!
Some if not many of these things may come off as blunt or harsh. Unfortunately I've had far too many experiences with randoms from FB and reddit being unhinged, cheating, complaining, derailing, and treating me like their personal emotional stress ball. At the end of the day, I'm one guy GMing a casual game. Not a 300 nuyen an hour therapist. I'm just trying to tell my story and also play/enjoy the game too
