Hair Loss 18M: hundreds of hair falling daily (not even exaggerating)

Thumbnail

• Upvotes

I am 18M living in college hostel. My scalp is oily, it becomes so oily in 2 days that I have to wash hair every 2 days, sometimes it becomes oily within 1 day also.

Hair line has so much receded, hair thinning is there. My hair falls out randomly like tf.

Pls save me. I just don't want to get bald within this month. On December, once I come home, I am planning to shave it off and will always maintain a buzzcut.

How to control this only for 1 month 😭😭

I already take Vit-B12 and Vit-D supplements. Also I am on dutasteride.

Face Routine Facewash recommendations

• Upvotes

What is a good facewash, scrub and lotion for mild to moderate sebderm? Lotion doesn't penetrate my skin on my face properly unless I exfoliate a lot before, but the only way I can seem to get my face exfoliated is if I have a shower and exfoliate with a exfoliating glove, which naturally makes me skin angry. I've been told I should be using salicylic acid to remove dead skin. Looking for any advice as I really want to help my skin. Thanks

New or Need Help Yeah…. It’s sebderm 😭

• Upvotes

so i’ve had this wild scalp problem for about 5 years that is constantly recurring. last time i looked up what it could be. sebderm came up as an option but when i looked at pics i was like “that doesn’t look like my scalp tbh”. importantly these were all pictures of sebderm cases on non-black people. i had a flare up last week and decided to google what the flakes looked like again, this time on dark-skinned black people. I audibly gasped at the first results. It’s 1000% sebderm. I didn’t take pics but i think this is confirmed by coal tar and ketaconozole shampoo clearing it right up. also i’ve been extra careful to wash/rinse my hair after sweating and the flakes seem to have realllly calmed down. i also discontinued use of a scalp oil that i’d been using thinking my scalp was dry. i’m so shocked. anyways just wanted to be welcomed to the family and beg any black sebderm baddies to tell me what they use that is safe because my hair feels soooo dry without oil or cream bc im scared to feed the fungus lol. but honestly that is welcome to have the flakes gone 🙌🏾❤️‍🔥 will be following this sub now ofc lol

EDIT: also please definitely give scalp care tips and routines i would LOVE. i’m fresh 5 days into this and so ready to have it under control. thankfully for now it’s isolated to the scalp 🤞🏾

General Zoryve expansion out of USA

Hello guys I was thinking Zoryve it’s available only in USA and we are not near to an expansion in Europe. Is it a way if some people in America can have more Zoryve products in their hands send us here in Europe? By this way some of us may find relief and some of you make a profit

I'm still learning! I know sezia and skinsort are great but I have soooooo many products that were for psoriasis (and watched my face just get worse with biofilm buildup) that I cant keep up!

Face Routine Tips for when cold weather is the trigger?

So I had horrendous Seb Derm last year (first time having it, happened suddenly after a very stressful time in my life - all over my cheeks, eyelids, nose folds and sometimes chin and ears. I'm bald and it has left my head alone mostly). It was particularly awful around Jan-March time here in the UK winter.

However... it magically went away (!) by around June time, which I put down to a topical zinc treatment I started around then UV light and heat. I was literally just using a normal skin cleanser through summer, no other treatment needed. Super happy about that obviously but now it's slowly starting to come back (starting around the nose just like last time) as winter approaches. So I can be confident of my trigger(s) as cold weather and low light - any tips on things I can do to prevent it getting as bad, now that I know this? I'm currently looking into face masks and non-scary looking balaclavas!! 😅

Hair Loss Irritated scalp? NSFW

My scalp has been red and itchy for about 10 days now it started when I washed my hair Sunday morning and then this happened the next day it’s mainly the back of my neck and parting that’s red but mainly the back that’s itching I think the itching has improved a bit but the redness dose still seem very much there. I also feel like I’ve been loosing more than my normal amount of hair just when brushing, showering or running my fingers through it. I have really bad health anxiety aswell and it has spiked in the last few weeks so this is me spiralling as I have heard inflammation and itching is a sign before alopecia. If anyone could reassure me that would be much appreciated I have a dr appointment on Monday.

New or Need Help Baby with sebderm.. need tips

Looking for any tips that does not include corticosteroids!

So my baby had what looked like acne a few weeks from birth and developed to sever infantile seborrheic dermatitis at around 2 months of age. (He is now 4 months) And no it was not due to 💉 as i didn’t give him at birth or 2 month mark and delayed it till he was 3 months.

At first i used coconut oil on him, saw it get worse and switched to Aveeno that had oats in it as i thought it was eczema. I even tried tallow (all bad if its sebderm i know). And he had a very bad flare and oozing so i went to the dermatologist, thats when he told me its sebderm. He prescribed a mixture of cortisone, anti-fungal and antibiotic cream (three creams that i mixed and applied twice a day for 5 days) and reduced to once a day for another week. I also was told to use ketokenazole shampoo 3 times a week for 2 weeks. It started to come back during that week so derm told me to add a cream called resolve plus, that had cortisone and antifungal. Once it cleared up. He said to continue using resolve plus once daily for maintenance.

So i told my doc i didn’t want cortisone he said up to me, (a bit mockingly as it will come back if i stopped). I also found out the creams for moisturizing the doc gave me had stuff that feeds the malesezia yeast!! Which kept increasing it and i had to keep putting that cortisone cream! I tried to ask another doc who still stated to use cortisone.

I refuse to believe that my baby has to use cortisone daily for this! So please help…

I have been reading a lot here, i used sezia.com and found that baby cetaphil doesn’t have things that aggravate the sebderm so i started to use it twice daily, i also put MCT C8 oil twice or once daily. I shower baby every other day using water from the sea for like 15 mins (i live close by), then rinse it off and use a hydrating shampoo that doesnt feed the yeast, but it does have perfume in it… (i didn’t find another safe option). And apply mct oil after shower and cetaphil over it. It did reduce redness but the yeast is still growing… i just received happy cappy medicated shampoo today and used it, so i have yet to see if its effective. Its on babys face (cheeks, chin, forehead), and some patched on body (feet, elbows, hand crease, thighs).

I exclusively BF, and i have cut dairy, gluten, citrus fruit, nuts, soy, egg, processed sugars and foods (i only eat home cooked meals), and anything spicy, so my diet is so clean for almost 2 months now. Please help… i just want it to stop spreading..

New or Need Help Small stubborn patch remaining...

Hi all. I'm hoping you'll have some insight into my situation please...

A few months ago, after doing my own research and with thanks to everyone here and all the useful recommendations, I ditched my regular T/Gel 3% Salicylic Acid shampoo - when I started I knew nothing about choosing the correct shampoo for Seb Derm but this one always eased the soreness but left my scalp flaky all over, so I lived with it for years.

Instead I started using Nizoral 2% Ketaconazole shampoo and MCT C8 oil. The change was almost instant, maybe a day or two, and I was genuinely amazed at how great my scalp was compared to how it used to be.

Now I use Nizoral once weekly, with Simple shampoo every other day in-between, and my scalp has remained clear except for one patch (the top of my sideburn where the ear meets the head, and over to behind my ear)

I do purposely apply the MCT oil to this patch after washes, and make sure to target it with Nizoral when I use it, but it remains hard to clear.

Has anyone had any experience of this? Is there anything I can do to clear this last area?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Routine Question Anyone else only get sent derm after being put on meds

Never had a problem until I was put on anticonvulsants. So many problems, photosensitive, hair thinning and untreatable dandruff. It took years to find out the dandruff was actually seb derm and it is now mostly controlled with nizoral although the hair thinning is not. Over the last few years it has spread to ears and nose. Antifungal cream and clever soap is helping but it never goes away completely. Swimming in a chlorinated pool helps a lot.

Product Question Need advice on dandruff, oily scalp and hair fall

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hey everyone, I'm 22M and I've been dealing with dandruff, oily and itchy scalp, and hair fall for the past few months.and i have been growing my hair from past few months.recently visited a dermatologist at a military hospital, and they diagnosed me with seborrheic dermatitis (seborrhoea capitis).

They gave me these medications:

Ketoconazole 2% + Zinc Pyrithione 1% shampoo

Hevobet-S lotion (Halobetasol Propionate 0.05% + Salicylic Acid 3%).

My usual hair-washing routine is twice a week, on Wednesday and Saturday. Sometimes I miss Saturday and end up washing my hair on Monday instead.

The problem is that I forgot the instructions the doctor gave me, and I don't have a detailed prescription explaining how to use these medicines. I only have the medication bottles and a basic hospital slip, so I'm confused about the correct routine.

so any guidance would be appreciated. Thanks!

Product Question Itraconozale prescribed. What to expect?

I have tried everything for my scalp seb derm. Every shampoo that exists along with a 2 week dose of fluconazale (50mg) and nothing worked. I would have flare right after the shower and lots of hair loss. Finally had my derm appointment today and he said I have seb derm but with more scaling and if no shampoo, zorvye has worked. It's time for itraconozale and clobestasol steroid.

Itraconozale 200/mg per day for 2 weeks

Clobestol twice daily for one month.

Use medicated shampoo only once a week and then use any another for the rest

What can I expect??? What should I look out for and anything I should avoid? I would like to yield maximum result out of it. Thanks

New or Need Help Does Seb Derm that was caused by Dupixent ever go away?

I was put in Dupixent for my Esophagus condition. I never had any issues with my skin prior. I was not warned about the skin side effects of Dupixent. Only about the eye issues.

I was told by my GI these symptoms would go away If I kept taking the medication as they continued to get worse. I took it for 10 months. Then I quit the medication and I was told the symptoms would go away from that. That was over 2 months ago.

For anyone else who developed their Seb Derm from this medication does discontinuation stop it? If so how long does it take?

General what is seb derm like for girls?

I don’t see much girls on the subreddit mainly boys but do girls get just as much flakes or little and if so, does it only appear on the scalp or also on all sides of the hair whether it’s the bottom strands or the sides and when having seb derm, can oil based products such as coconut oil or other yeast feeding products go on the hair directly if it’s (long) since it’s not directly on the scalp or will it still cause irritation? thank you to anyone who responds!

New or Need Help Is this seb derm or psoriasis?

I’ve been having itchier scalp lately and my flakes have been worsening all around my scalp. I also have these white marks, which I’m not too sure what it is. I’ve tried using Nizoral, Head & Shoulders, Cerave Shampoo, Ketoconazole Shampoo, Zoryve Foam, and MCT oil with no luck on reducing the itching or the flaking. It’s been embarrassing walking around with flakes and the white marks. Any ideas, suggestions or product recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

New or Need Help When should I reduce how often I’m using my prescription shampoo?

I have been using the shampoo prescribed to me by my dermatologist every other day for about a month now. I felt like my symptoms were improving, but now I feel like it’s getting worse. Could it be because I’m over using the shampoo now? Should I reduce to every couple days and see if it gets better again? I also know that I may need to try a different shampoo. I see my derm again mid November.

Routine Question Prioritizing reduction of scalp oiliness (which feeds the yeast) or winter-time dryness (which causes the oiliness but also fights it)

I appear to be in a bit of a catch-22. My seb derm seems caused by scalp dryness and kicks into high-gear in the winter.

I can get rid of it with an anti-oiliness shampoo (Cotril Purity Anti-Dandruff Shampoo Oily Scalp) as the yeast won't have as much skin oil to feast on. … but then again, the oil production increases in the first place as a reaction to the scalp dryness. So, by using this shampoo my hair will become very, very dry and lifeless, ugly in less than 24 hours after a single wash.

The alternative approach has been to use moisturizing shampoos and a leave-in product (Cutrin BIO+ Hydra Balance Scalp Treatment) which keeps my scalp/hair moisturized and presentable to the public for upto three days after a wash. … but all the products I've found in the store have 2-4 triggering ingredients in them according to sezia.co.

Should the next logical move be to order some seb derm-safe moisturizing shampoos? I found a long list of them in this subreddit.

The Cutrin leave-in product that I mentioned above works really, really well for my hair – does anyone know of any seb derm-safe alternatives to it?

Thank you for your attention.
