Most of the information that you need to know about Riga can be found on the city's home page, including various active or upcoming events - https://www.liveriga.com/en/
For more local events - Noktirne ( iOS / Android )
Using public transport in Riga:
- https://www.rigassatiksme.lv/en/ for information about the transport
- The official operator's app ( iOS / Android ) for ticket purchase
Be aware that with the operator's app registration is open only for Baltic phone numbers (+370, +371, +372)
- https://saraksti.lv/#/en OR https://www.1188.lv/en/transport for navigation
- Timey ( iOS / Android ) for tracking your transport in real time

- RIX airport fast-track
For any tourists visiting from outside the Baltic states it is our strongest recommendation to be using this app.

Hi,
I’ll be coming to Riga tomorrow and am wondering what affordable shops you guys recommend if I wanted to buy jewelry and brooches.
I am looking to buy simple bracelets with amber (nothing too fancy or expensive). I was also thinking of buying a sakta (and a normal brooch) as a gift. Is buying a sakta a recommended gift or should I look for something else?
Thanks!

I left my UK travel adapter on bus coming here and now my phone almost dying.
Can anyone tell me where I could buy one close to Barona iela / Brivibas iela tram stop? 🙏🙏🙏
EDITED: thanks for help everyone. I wasn’t thinking, of course I could have bought a charger - and that’s what I did 🙈
Big Domina shopping centre just few mins along the road and got one there.
Loving Riga so far - looking forward to exploring over next few days 😊
Thanks again.

Paldies!

Man vajadzētu palīdzību ar makeup. Vēlos uzlabot savas prasmes, taču man nav pietiekamu zināšanu šajā jomā. Kāda veida produktus un otas man vajadzētu izmantot? Kāda atšķirība ir starp beauty blender un otiņām? Esmu studente un mans darbs prasa lai es velku makeup, un esmu apsvērusi domu sākt to lietot arī ikdienā. Neesmu visbagātākā un tāpēc produktu no veikala “Drogas” būtu vislabākā opcija man. Būšu pateicīga psr jebkādu palīdzību un padomiem.
I need some help with makeup. I’d like to improve my skills, but I don’t really have enough knowledge in this area. What kind of products and brushes should I use? What is the difference between a beauty blender and makeup brushes? I’m a student, and my job requires me to wear makeup. I’ve also been considering starting to wear it in my everyday life. I’m not exactly wealthy, so products from the store "Drogas" would be the best option for me. Any help and tips are appreciated.

Bārā vai naktsklubā varētu izvēlēties aromātu un par 1 € saņemt vienu smaržu pūtienu. Vai jūs to izmantotu?

Hi
We are a group of four visiting Riga in a couple of weeks. We are there for a weekend and we are looking for some unusual sights and fun experiences. We are into history, food and beer and sport and such. Currently we consider a football match or trying the bobsleigh just outside Riga.
Has anyone some good advice on what to do and where to go in Riga?
I really liked the evening walk, it was beautiful!
You have a really nice old city!

Has anyone here learned Latvian as a second language and reached a good level, and could you share what helped you most and what resources you used?

Hey there, I (f, 33) am spending some time in Riga to work on my research. Anyone out there who'd like to meet up for coffee or a shared work session? :)
Hi all. I'm visiting Riga for work and would love to take the opportunity to experience the city through its food and drink. I've already looked at various lisiticles online but there's nothing like a local recommendation.
Where should I go? What should I eat? Where are your favourite spots and why?
I'm here until Saturday so I'm hoping to have plenty of time to soak in the Riga way of life in the evenings. Restaurants, cafes, bars. All recommendations welcome l.

Hey guys! I'm 33F, and I'm thinking of spending Christmas in Riga as a solo traveler.
What would you recommend visiting besides the Christmas markets? Is there anything I should avoid?
I'm also curious about how locals usually celebrate Christmas. What do people typically do on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day? Are restaurants, bars, and attractions generally open, or does the city get pretty quiet?
Any tips or recommendations would be greatly appreciated, as I'm currently planning my trip!
Thank you! :)

Hello! I'm an exchange student here in Rīga, until january, and I'd like to start playing volleyball. I'm a beginner, 19 years old, and I don't speak much Latvian.
Do you know a group or training session where I could join?

Hi everyone! I’m from Turkey. I am fascinated by Latvia, its nature, and the culture in Riga. Since I want to learn more about your country and perhaps visit in the future, I’d love to connect and make some local friends here. Feel free to send a message or comment if you'd like to chat!

Hello, I am and italian 28 female worker and I will live in Riga for two months. I would like to really live and embrace locally the city not going to touristic places or events, but mostly meet new friends (locals, foreigners who also live in here). If you have local suggestions that would be great! Thank you, Paldies
