Can’t find them anymore

When I was younger I had an RC plane that I can no longer find online. The body was practically on 1 small stick but it had nice size wings. It was an awesome glider and would love to find it again. It had a very small engine but boy it was fun to fly.

Ground Ops STOL Tests PA-18 - Kingfisher - Bigfoot

Flying these models was a absolute blast. They are all great models but of course each with there ups and downs. Easy example is the PA-18 super cubs rubber air filled tires instead of concrete donuts like other models. The 1300mm and 1700mm PA -18 are great but they give you rock hard tires on the 1700. My advice is buy extra sets of pneumatic tires for the 1300mm PA-18 and use them on your other models. Its a game changer on ground ops. The super cubs handle great and have good control authority from my few dozen flights between the models so far.

The Kingfisher however does not have the same snappy control authority as the super cubs. But it flies straight controlled lines like its attached to a cable and does water and ground ops great. Handles water better then the super cub. Def recommend for water sports cause this plane Handles floats like a dream. Its got plenty of power. Will hold itself for a sec but not fully hold a hover. But dont get me wrong its still got plenty of climb even with floats or the large hard rubber landing gear. Again I recommend replacing with pneumatic wheels.

The super cubs have more power for more extreme type ops. Especially the 1700mm but again I cant rule out the Kingfishers ability to make any pilot look good flying it.

The bigfoot surprised me. Very snappy controls able to do rolls and snaps like its nothing right along side the super cub. Out of the 3 I was able to get the Bigfoot to fly the Slowest. This plane will CRAWL threw the air. Like fast walking speed 🤣 but it dont have the power of the other 2 models. I found the bigfoot losing lots of power when pulling out with flaps down compared to the other 2 models which will perform rolls straight off the runway with ease with flaps also down. But cant ignore the bigfoots ability to takeoff and land in 5ft like its nothing. In some cases you land almost at a dead drop cause it can easily fly at some extremely slow crawling speeds.

Overall had a great time and was really glad to get used to these great models and there major differences as STOL planes.

Not only does this make foam models look amazing but increases the foams durability by a significant amount compared to uncoated foam.

I bought my first EDF and I have a question about the ESC

So I picked up a FlyFans 64mm F-22 from bananahobby.com and the product page says it has a 6s 40A rated esc with reverse thrust, but the manual doesn't include any programming instructions, so I started digging.

I'm pretty sure this is a knockoff FMS mold with a rebranded ESC but it won't respond to the hobby wing card I have or go into programming mode with any combo of standard throttle@power on positions.

I should probably be more concerned that it's labeled as 2-4S ESC, right? I have yet to receive a response from bananahobby on my request for programming instructions or clarification on the ESC rating.

Is it true that impeller is better foe high speed cruise?

I did research, and found that impeller drones have cruise usually higher that 150-200kph, while almost all prop drones never cruise above 100-150. EDIT: drone i meant like UAV. In this topic 1-10 kilos

Can i make a rc plane taking off with a rocket motor?

Using a rocket motor to take off like normal plane and let it glide.

I’ve caught the bug too and started this hobby. I’ve already broken 2 propellers, and my flight time isn’t even 5 seconds, but even that was incredibly enjoyable. :)

Hi everyone! I'm Savage, one of the pilots behind SavageJonesRC, and my co-pilot is Sam, aka Crash. We focus on pushing foam RC planes to their limits with epic stunts and testing their durability—which naturally leads to quite a few crash ops! All of our flights and durability tests take place on a private 200-foot packed dirt runway. We'll be sharing our experiences and mods with the community and look forward to your feedback!

Almost done! Gyro help please

(Don’t judge me for the wings being off)
Gyro is on a foam pad, even with only 10% gain the safe modes make the ailerons flip out.
This is my first gas/nitro plane. Im very excited to fly it when its done, im just waiting on my wing tube to get delivered.

Recommendation for a battery for a Flysky FS-iA6B receiver.

I am just getting back into the sport after a 25 year absence due to having kids. I just purchased a new Flysky transmitter and receiver. The FS-iA6B receiver has a notation that says 4.0-8.4V/DC, but there is no mAh rating on it. I have some Futaba (#NR4QB) batteries from before that are rated as 4.8 V 700 mAh. My question is how does the mAh rating affect whether these will work well with this receiver. I also have seen batteries online with much higher mAh ratings, will these hold a charge longer offering longer fly time? I have never been great at electronics, so these questions might be really basic, but I really don't want to fry my new equipment.

Thanks

Help with Tx16s and Spektrum esc

Hey all. I can’t for the life of me get my brand new xfly spitfire working working with a spektrum 60a smart esc and ar8360t+ receiver. Everything works like a dream except for the motor. It simply won’t go.

Attached is the video. I’ve tried everything under the sun and exhausted ChatGPT help. It finally told me to call horizon. It doesn’t sound like they’re going to help much. Saying “we don’t deal with radiomaster gear” …

Anyways, coming to you all for help! Attached is a video. I’ve tried everything I know to do. I’m relatively new to rc planes, but an engineer-type brain. It shouldn’t be this hard…. Any ideas? I wanted the avian for forward programming capabilities and throttle reverse. Only thing I haven’t tried is swapping the xfly esc back in.

Maiden flight ... OUCH!!!

Not enough elevator with the flaps down so my flare was more like a controlled descent to a very rough landing. Other than that, it flew great! I put the GPS in it for grins and at some point it hit 110mph. One day I'll give it some room to stretch out.

I just should have waited for a friend to control the speed. My plane was at 50% power and i just was shy to give it a bigger push.

I learned and went back home. Startet checking Everything and printing the destroyed 2 Parts and superglued/ducktaped the whole fuselage for more stability and Resistance.

I will try it Tomorrow again

Dynamic soaring in my RC glider simulator: 410 km/h in a 12 m/s wind

I’m developing Polara Sailplane Lab, an RC glider simulator, and wanted to share an experimental dynamic soaring run above the Baïgorry ridge in the French Pyrenees.

With a 12 m/s southerly wind, the simulated glider accelerates from around 95 to over 410 km/h by repeatedly crossing the wind-shear layer near the ridge. The camera stays fixed, and Polara’s autopilot flies the circuits in this demonstration.

This is a work in progress. Structural failure and flutter aren’t simulated, and the run goes beyond the Reynolds-number range covered by the airfoil data. These are simulation results, not real-world performance claims.

For those who fly DS or slope soar: how does the circuit look to you, particularly the turn placement and height relative to the ridge? I’d appreciate feedback on what looks convincing and what feels off.

Advice on whether project is technically too advanced

Hello! I’m 16 and building a flying wing config RC plane for a school project, the tutorial i’m using will be in the link below. When i consulted my teacher about the electronics he told me it wasn’t possible in our time frame (2 months) because of the complicated programming work i’d have to do. I have absolutely no experience programming or building RC planes but whenever i research this plane it seems to be quite plug and play. I was wondering if any experts would mind giving me feedback on whether the electronics for this project will be too intensive or if they’ll be easy enough to figure out. If my teacher is right i was thinking about buying a pre-programmed kit so i can just mount it to the plane and not have to deal with the software. Any ideas?
