My electricity bill is more than my apartment. The bill claims I use over 3000 kw but only have two minisplita and they run at 75. Landlord does not care and luma won’t respond. Actually reduced usage by 15 percent last month but the bill went way up because of fuel charges. Does anyone know any way to combat this? I’m thinking of just closing the account and reopening under boyfriend’s name to see if there is any change. But there is just no way in hell we are consuming that much.

I come very often to Puerto Rico to visit family. I love the beach area behind the kiosks in Luquillo. Went recently and it seems like water from the stream? Is mixing with water from the beach.You used to be able to walk all the way down but now there is a walkway and water divides. The water is pretty dark coming from the trees. Just wondering if anyone knows if this was naturally occurring or if it was dug this way intentionally. Thanks.

Scientist Miguel Román and colleagues combined NASA's Black Marble night lights data product from the NASA/NOAA Suomi National Polar-orbiting Partnership with data from USGS-NASA Landsat satellites and other sources to produce a neighborhood-scale map of energy use in communities across Puerto Rico as electricity was restored after Hurricane Maria in 2017.

This visualization starts with a global view of hurricane Maria hitting Puerto Rico. We then zoom in to Puerto Rico to compare the standard night lights dataset to a new, high definition version of nights lights. After the hurricane passes over the island, we see a massive drop in night light intensity due to loss of power. After showing night light levels over several stages of hurricane recovery, we transition to a 'Days Without Power' dataset. The camera then zooms in to several locations around the island to examine each stage of recovery in more detail.

Interactions between power restoration rate and vulnerable populations

In examining who was most affected by Hurricane Maria’s long-term power outages, the results show that populations with existing vulnerabilities were most disadvantaged by density-based recovery protocols (Fig 7). Households that recovered in Stage 1 earned almost double that of households recovering in Stage 2 or 3. Disparities in recovery between households of different incomes were greatest in Puerto Rico’s large cities, with the poor shouldering much longer power outages than average households in San Juan, Bayamon, Carolina, Dorado, Ponce, Toa Alta, and Toa Baja (Fig 6). Rural municipalities saw much less variation in recovery rates, and also in disparities between the populations who benefited from them. There were occasional but notable exceptions to this general trend. Low-income populations were helped by density-based restoration protocols in the municipalities of Camuy, Luquillo, and Mayagüez, where low-income populations live closer to the urban core or in multi-family units.

So I'm gonna start my bachelors in natural science with a major in agronomy and I want to know how ROUGH I'm gonna have it when finding a job. I know its something not many people work on here in PR bc its very minimum wage but I really hope I can make something of it to help my community.

My landlord dumped this in the corner of the yard three years ago when he moved to Florida and it was dead but I started watering it and it sprung back to life. I don't know what it is but it's really beautiful and it's grown four feet in the last year and a half. It always surprises me what they give when you care for them a little bit.

Puerto Rico LLCs and corps are no longer required to file Beneficial Ownership Information (BOI) reports with FinCEN.

The agency has made the exemption permanent under its final rule effective last Aug. Find the news release here:

The change applies to biz formed in PR, other US territories and all 50 states. So those that prev filed BOI reports are also no longer required to update or correct them. There are several exceptions thou. It's worth reviewing https://www.fincen.gov/boi before paying for reporting services.

After all the changes, deadlines, and confusion surrounding BOI reporting, it's good to finally have some clarity. 🙄

Me extraña porque es una de las mejores profesiones en la isla y muchos hablan que se hace buen dinero, pero los puestos dicen otra cosa. Hay otras profesiones que ya están en los $17 p/h, entonces, quiero saber si para ganar buen dinero en Contabilidad hay que ser CPA o se puede ganar dinero decente pero con el bachillerato solamente?
