Just wondering if someone could shed some light on any of these things. I hope it's okay to post here. I don't want to post in the LISreunion sub for obvious reasons, don't feel safe there. This became an essay, so thank you to those who read the whole thing.
- "DESTROYING" and VILIFYING CHLOE: Why was the game yet again about Chloe suffering? She was always alive in bae ending and they kind of ruined our Chloe, and merged her to someone else. She doesn't even remember Max choosing her? but at the same time she remembers things they did together on the road?
-She was also putting herself down constantly and the message seemed to be, yet again, "I'm bad for Max" "I don't fit in to her life "I'm the chaos. etc" . Even having her say she doesn't deserve to exist!? And Max barely contradicts her. Like, why can they only write Chloe like that, why does it always feel like D9/square have a personal vendetta against her? Even in bts., I got that feeling, despite it being her story.
- UNRESOLVED PLOTPOINTS: Why couldn't they write them actually resolving their break-up? I'm not a writer but I literally could have done it better. Throw some lines in about Max not beeing able to deal with her trauma and Chloe saying: I had to let you go so you could find a way forward, but I never stopped loving you." That could have also explained why Chloe would leave Max without putting the blame on Chloe. ( all of us know she wouldn't leave but since they created the mess in their story they had to solve it.).
- They barely talked about their trauma. Why not have them actually show growth and talk about how the storm wasn't either of their fault and that they can't blame themselves?
- NO INTIMACY: I know there was a very tight budget, they couldn't touch bc of mo-cap suits getting stuck and it being expansive to fix. But is that the only reason there wasn't another kiss towards the end? it could have been automatic based on romance algorithm etc. I mean, they must have known Pricefielders wanted that?
- THEY BARELY SPEND ANY TIME TOGETHER. In a Pricefield-game of roughly 8 hours they have like 2,5 hours together I think? Is it bc of Chloe being shoe-horned in last minute, they never planned for her to be there? She's supposed to be one of two protagonists and she shows up after like half the game. It really feels like "this is Max's story, Chloe is merely a sidekick." I really really hated that.
-THE ENDING: Like, the ending is my main criticism. Why on earth could Max leave Chloe in one ending yet again? And most of the other endings are about CHLOE LYING to Max! If the intention was a Pricefield-game, why didn't they just write an ending where they unambiguously stay together? even exchange a mutual I love you? It could have been so easy? They can't blame that choice on the budget.
tldr: D9's writing does Chloe such an injustice and even in the end they can't just stay together. it could have been so easy to just give Pricefielders what we wanted and I don't understand?
