Discussion Traffic in Prague 10
I just need to vent how fucking ridiculous is the traffic and transport delays in Prague 3 (around Ohrada/Biskupcova) for the last few weeks. My commuting time doubled from 30min to 1h+ every day, it seems the urban planning around these tram line renovation is a complete disaster. I’m literally waiting at the bus stop for over 40min without a single one in sight.
Even worse, seems like it’s going to be shit like this until the end of the year. I might just buy a bike at this point.
Edit: I know, it’s Prague 3, title by mistake.

Question Lesbian meetings in Prague?
Hello everyone! 27 year old woman here relocating to Prague soon. Wondering how gay women meet each other in Prague, apart from apps. Are there groups that organize meetings or specific cafes/bars? All suggestions welcomed!

Question Biking in Prague
Hello, I know Prague is not considered generally bike friendly. But as a Copenhagener soon moving to Prague, I hate to be stuck in traffic or fighting for parking. My office is a 5 minute drive away, there is no steep hills or anything like that, so I am genuinley considering just getting a bike instead. My question is, biking on the road, passing cars on the bike is that something that's generally frowned upon or how the locals would take it? My thought is that biking would be faster than driving as I can pass the traffic

Question public transportation to Kutna Hora
Hello,
I will be in Prague next week and am looking to go to Kutna Hora. I am quite confused about the ticketing option. From the PID app, I see that trains cost about 120 CZK one way from Prague main train station. From my research Kutna Hora is in Zone 7. In the PID app cheapest zone 7 ticket is 84 CZK for 2.5 hours. If I choose the 120 CZK, am I guaranteeing basically a reserved seating? Is there any other things to know if I choose to buy the 84 CZK tickets.

Question Create a band?
Inspired by a post I saw yesterday. Dude was 20 and wanted to start a band. God speed my friend. I couldn't reply to him. I'm almost 50. Any older people that want to jam? I can sing, play bass and guitar. Anyone want to get together?

Question Medical Extract
Where can I get this medical extract from? For some context, I am an international student and don't have a GP here in Prague. Also, is it a medical certificate that I'm fit for work or just a extract of my medical records(I don't have any)? Thank you in advance for any help.

Question Loud footsteps from neighbors in a new building… has anyone experienced this?
Hi everyone! I’m wondering if anyone has experienced something similar and could offer some advice.
I rent an apartment in a relatively new building, and can hear our neighbors’ footsteps extremely loudly. Sometimes it genuinely sounds like they’re walking like elephants! 😅 It’s surprising because the building is new, and other neighbors I’ve spoken to don’t seem to have the same issue.
I’m trying to figure out whether this could be a problem with the sound insulation in our particular apartment, the flooring, or something else.
Since I’m renting, I’m not sure what the best approach would be. Has anyone dealt with something similar? Did you contact your landlord, the building management, or find another solution?

Other After three "Beautiful Prague!" photo sets in a row, here's some ordinary Prague... with people! Since the previous posts had almost no one in them, making the city look like a lifeless studio backlot, here some random poor quality shots, old and new... but with life. Also fat Nazis on motorbikes.
The Nazis are actually reenactors taking part in a commemoration of the Prague Uprising (and only one of them is fat). If you’ve never stood in a crowd applauding what every single sense tells you is the fuckin’ Wehrmacht, believe me: it is a very weird feeling.

Question Name of Thai place at weekend EtnoFestival?
This weekend there was a food festival at Anděl (EtnoFest) and I had one of the best Thai foods of my life. I asked the family in the tent if they have a restaurant and he said not yet, but it’s in the future plans.
I don’t remember the name of their booth or if they have any social media I can follow. I’d love to support them and also stay up to date at which festivals they’re at and if they eventually open a restaurant!
So please does anyone know the name of the Thai food booth at the festival this past weekend in anděl?? (It was purple if that helps). Thank you!

Other Hledám chronicky nemocné kamarády v Praze
Ahoj,
Je mi 19 let, jsem chronicky nemocná a používám vozíček. Hrozně ráda bych si našla nějaké kamarády v mé věkové skupině tady v Praze, kteří by chápali moje potíže a sdíleli moje zájmy.

Question Looking for feedback on a car rental company
I am planning on coming to Prague in December for the Christmas markets, and I was thinking of making it an extended trip and driving to a couple of nearby cities as well, and I was looking for a car rental. Unfortunately, I have had my German licence for less than a year, and it is a pain to get a car, and that's how I ended up at "Savraska Rent a Car". I was looking to see if anyone has used them, if they are legit and so on, since the Google reviews seem old and sparse. So if anyone has any idea about them or can suggest other companies, it would be much appreciated. I know about the public transport being good for most of the places, but I want to enjoy the driving as well.
I also came across "Anytime". How is that compared to more traditional car rental?
Edit: I would be mostly driving between cities and not inside Prague or other cities. For that, its good old walking or the trams.

Question Help with finding queer roommates for erasmus stay in the spring
Hi everyone. I know this is a bit niche for such a wide sub, but I didn’t know where else to ask, so I figured I’d shoot my shot.
I’m coming to Prague to study in the spring for a semester, and I’m currently in the process of finding a place to live, during that time. I’m queer and trans (and visibly so), and find it intimidating having to potentially live with strangers because of that. I’d be wary of living with a stranger anywhere in the world, but especially in a place I’ve never been, and therefore have zero feel for what the people are like.
Where I currently live, there are facebook groups specefically for connecting with other queer people in my city, and people often post about finding other queer roommates. I’m in a lot of different facebook groups for accomodations in Prague, but I havn’t been able to find any groups or posts, that specifically mention queer people.
Does anyone out there have any ressources or places I could look, which could be relevant? Or possibly are in the same position?
Thank you for reading, and thanks in advance <3

Question Do Ukrainians need permanent residence to open a Czech bank account?
Update Thanks everyone for help! Didn't expect so many answers. Special thanks for Any-Blacksmith-2054 for recommending Palladium Raiffeisen branch. The problem is mostly solved. Sending my respect and appreciation to everyone who replied!
Hey, I'm a Ukrainian citizen living in Czechia under temporary protection. I have a valid biometric passport, but I was told I need proof of permanent residence to open a bank account.
That might be a dumb question, but is this actually required, or can I open an account with temporary protection? Which banks would you recommend? And how does the process work overall.
Thanks for any advice!

Question Cinema City Flora Seats
I managed to get tickets for Dune: Part Three in 70mm at Cinema City Flora.
I’m in row 11, seats 33–34.
I know they’re somewhat to the side, but how bad is the viewing angle from there? Would you keep these seats or try to exchange them if better ones become available

Question Cinema City - Dune - Dec 17th
Does anyone if they'd be giving out the film strips for their screenings on the 17th? The IMAX website supposedly says every participating 70mm screens would give out on their 7pm shows but cinemacity doesn't have a 7pm show but 8.40.

Question Tickets for an Chzechia game
Hello everyone,
i am visiting prag from 9-13. November and i was looking at the Czechia-Spain game and thought it would be nice to watch that game.
Is anyone familiar with the process if buying a ticket for the national team?
And is it even possible, due to high demand, to get a ticket at an outsider?
Many thanks
