Android TV for PS4 - Android TV as an installable PKG (fat PS4, 13.52 GoldHEN)

Yes, I know how this sounds, I know its a lot of reading.

TL;DR Android TV on your PS4 is now possible.

I've been working on getting Android TV running on the PS4, and it's finally at a point where I wanted to release it. It's been a long day, so I'll be tidying up this post and the release over the next couple of days, but here it is.

Download: https://github.com/odiecay/android-tv-ps4/releases/tag/v1.0

What it is: Android TV 13 (based on BRTDTV's Android TV x86 build) running on the PS4 through Linux. I wanted to use my PS4 as a proper streaming box without hunting down a separate homebrew version of every app, and this does that. You get the normal Android TV home screen, the Play Store, and real apps.

It installs as a normal PKG. Everything goes onto the internal drive, nothing gets repartitioned, and you don't need a PC or network to boot it. You just open it from the PS4 home screen. Your apps, logins and settings stay put between boots.

Comes with YouTube, Spotify, Kodi, Plex, Jellyfin, VLC, TV Bro (browser), BiglyBT, Crossy Road and AIDA64 already installed, plus Google Play services. Sign in with your own accounts.

**Who can run this right now**

To be upfront: this release only supports original "fat" PS4s (CUH-10xx / CUH-11xx, Aeolia chip) on firmware 13.52 with GoldHEN. I've only got one console, a CUH-1102A, so that's the only one it's actually been tested on. CUH-10xx and other 11xx models should work but are untested.

- Other firmware: the launcher checks the version and stops with an error. It won't do anything to your console.

- Slim and Pro: not supported. They use different hardware and need their own porting work.

You'll also need about 8 GB free on the PS4 to install. Android gets 32 GB of storage, but it only takes up space as you actually use it.

**Installing**

  1. GitHub won't take files over 2 GB, so the PKG is split into two parts. Download part1, part2 and Join-PKG-Windows.cmd into the same folder and double-click the .cmd. It joins them and checks the file, then says READY. (On Linux/Mac, use join-pkg.sh instead.)

  2. Copy Android-TV-for-PS4.pkg to an exFAT USB stick and install it with GoldHEN's package installer.

  3. Turn on BinLoader in GoldHEN (Servers > BinLoader, port 9090).

  4. Open Android TV for PS4.

The first launch takes 5-10 minutes. It copies everything to the drive, the screen goes black and Linux text scrolls past, then the Android boot animation shows up and sits there for a while. Just leave it. After that, booting takes about 2 minutes.

Restart in Android takes you back to the PS4 system, and Shut down turns the console off. To get back into Android, load GoldHEN and open the app again.

**What works**

YouTube (signed in, up to 1440p), Spotify, Kodi and Kayo all play fine. Wi-Fi, Ethernet and HDMI audio work. I've paired a DualShock 4 and a Google TV Streamer remote over Bluetooth, and the PS button takes you Home.

**What doesn't (yet)**

- No HDCP and it's not a Google-certified device, so some DRM-heavy stuff won't play. 7plus is one I know of.

- Sign in to YouTube. Guest mode can throw a decoder error.

- On one screen in Kayo the controller's X button does nothing, but the Google TV remote works there.

- After setup, go into Settings and set the device name to "PlayStation 4". Otherwise Spotify Connect shows it as something else.

- If the launcher says it can't reach BinLoader, close the app, toggle BinLoader off and on, and open it again.

If something goes wrong, the install guide has a troubleshooting section: https://github.com/odiecay/android-tv-ps4/blob/main/docs/INSTALL.md

**Help wanted: getting it onto more consoles**

I'd really like this to run on more than just my PS4, and that's where I need help.

Other firmware is the most doable next step. The Linux loader this is built on already has kernel offsets for 20 firmware versions, from 5.05 up to 13.52, thanks to the people who've done that work in the PS4 Linux scene. Most of the rest of the boot process isn't tied to firmware. What's left is building the loader for each version, having the launcher pick the right one, and testing it on real consoles. I can't test anything but 13.52 myself, so I need people on other firmware who are willing to test builds and send logs.

Slim and Pro are a bigger job (different southbridge, Wi-Fi/Bluetooth and graphics setup), and they'd need someone with that hardware and some PS4 Linux experience.

If you can help with either, or you just want to tell me what console and firmware you're on so I know what to prioritise, comment here or open an issue on GitHub. All the source and build instructions are there: https://github.com/odiecay/android-tv-ps4

Huge thanks to BRTDTV for the Android TV base, and to the PS4 Linux folks, GoldHEN, OpenOrbis, Scene-Collective, sleirsgoevy and Ps3itaTeam. None of this would exist without their work.

Discussion Playstation 4 Online Without PSN on Jailbroken System Using OrbisNet

• Upvotes

Heya people,

My last post on this topic was very helpful, and I’m grateful to everyone who joined OrbisNet. I wanted to make a status update for anyone interested.

We now have over 60 supported games! Including big titles such as:

  • Ark: Survival Evolved
  • Tekken 7
  • Minecraft Dungeons
  • Payday 2
  • Helldivers 1
  • Green Hell
  • A Way Out

...and many more!
Thanks for one of our community members for providing gameplay clips!

Some people got confused about what OrbisNet is, so I’ll rephrase it: OrbisNet is a PSN emulator, meaning you don’t need to be connected to PSN to play games. This isn’t LAN, but we have planned support for LAN play

if you are interested we are currently in Open Beta!
Expect Issues to occur since this is a very early Version of OrbisNet,
https://discord.com/invite/y5gRdBP3bH
We also got a website now!

Hello, I was on PS3 and I switched to a PS4 to jailbreak it and play PES 2019, but I couldn't find it anywhere. So I stayed on my PS4 and installed PES 2013, which I already had on my PS3, using an emulator. If you know where I can find PES 2019, thank you. No links, obviously,

Discussion Research Project Getting Roblox Running on Jailbroken PS4 Consoles (GoldHEN)

Hey everyone!

I'm currently working on an experimental project to investigate whether Roblox can run on jailbroken PS4 consoles using GoldHEN, without requiring a standard PlayStation Network connection.

What I've done so far:

  • Obtained the official Roblox PS4 update package (CUSA06122, version 02.60) from OrbisPatches.
  • Analyzed the PKG structure and extracted its accessible metadata.
  • Examined the param.sfo, PlayGo metadata, and PlayStation multiplayer intent declarations.
  • Identified references to joinSession and launchMultiplayerActivity.
  • Started investigating how the PS4 client depends on PSN authentication and Roblox's own backend services.

The current problem:

I don't have access to a decrypted Roblox PS4 installation.

The official update PKG contains encrypted game data, preventing me from analyzing eboot.bin, PRX modules, and the game's actual authentication implementation.

What I'm looking for:

I'm looking for someone who has experience with PS4 game dumping, or who has a legitimate Roblox PS4 installation and could help with authorized analysis of its decrypted executables.

Even technical documentation, dependency lists, or reverse-engineering findings would be extremely helpful.

The long-term goals:

  1. Investigate whether Roblox can launch on GoldHEN without PSN.
  2. Understand how the client handles PlayStation authentication.
  3. Determine whether Roblox's official servers require PSN-derived authentication.
  4. Explore whether a working homebrew-compatible build is technically feasible.
  5. Document the findings for the PS4 homebrew community.

I'm currently using a PS4 running firmware 13.00 with GoldHEN.

This is an experimental reverse-engineering and compatibility research project. I'm not claiming that PSN authentication can already be bypassed or that official Roblox servers will accept modified clients.

If you're experienced with PS4 reverse engineering, PKG/PFS analysis, or Roblox's networking architecture, I'd really appreciate your insights!

Thanks!

PS4 Jailbreak 11.50 + Itemzflow: Can I Run Games Directly from an exFAT External HDD Without Using Internal Storage?

Hi everyone

I have a jailbroken PS4 Slim running firmware 11.50, and I use Itemzflow Game Manager.

I recently got a 1TB external hard drive because I want to expand my game storage. However, I have a problem and would really appreciate some advice.

I want to download PS4 games in PKG format on my Windows PC and store them on my external HDD. Ideally, I would like to connect the HDD to my PS4 and run the games directly from it, without having to install them on the PS4's internal HDD and use up its limited storage space.

I also want to keep using the same external HDD with my Windows PC, so I would prefer to keep it formatted as exFAT. I understand that formatting the drive as PS4 extended storage would erase its existing contents and prevent me from using it normally with Windows without reformatting it again.

My questions are:

  1. Is it possible to run PS4 games directly from an external HDD on a jailbroken PS4 running firmware 11.50, using Itemzflow or another compatible homebrew tool?
  2. Is there a way to do this while keeping the external HDD formatted as exFAT, so I can use it with both my PC and PS4?
  3. If this is possible, what folder structure, file format, or setup would I need?

I understand that simply storing PKG files on an external HDD is different from running installed games directly from it. I'm specifically looking for a solution that allows me to play games from the external drive without using up my PS4's internal storage.

Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

PROJECT 06 PS4 PORT: ME AJUDE A TORNAR ISSO POSSÍVEL

Reposting again since I wish to inform you that the latest update comes with lots of features now.

It was tested using a PS4 slim on firmware 11.02. 1080p non HDR streaming is the highest it can do, well, before it starts lagging.

Any sort of contributions are welcome. And please post any bugs or glitches on the issues tab.

Thank you to the initial testers of the app.

I hope someone finds it useful.

Discussion I find it funny how PS5 jailbreak is more stable than PS4.

My experience with jailbreaking PS4 is that it was never a “smooth experience.”
Let's say that out of 5 tries, you could get 2 kernel panics. And have to start again. I could describe it as being like gambling.
Every time you start your ps4 you roll the dice.

But with PS5, I had maybe 1 kernel error and that was because I messed up, so it's my fault.

And not to mention how easy it is to install jailbreak on PS5.
Can't believe PS4 jailbreak still needs work after all this time, while PS5 works almost flawlessly.

EDIT: The success rate depends on PS4 firmware, so a lot of PS4s now that you find on sale are on higher firmware and with that, the success rate is not that great. I have tested a lot of PS4s with different firmwares and that i can say from my experience

Which firmware version is more stable for the mod?

Post image
• Upvotes

I turned my PS4 on yesterday after having it off for around 2 years (I believe). I know the latest software version where we can mod it is 13.52. Is that the best version to update my PS4 to or is there another version where everything runs smoother?

I just want to know if I should go all the way up to 13.52 or if I should aim to a previous firmware version to have a better experience with the jailbreak.

Discussion Do you guys make cheats for games using ai?

The game cheating community is not that active so a lot of games don't have cheats at all or have them for old versions or non downloadable cusa versions such as the update for diablo 2 cusa28305 v1.11.

I tried to make some cheats using ai but it told me it can't do it since it cant verify the offsets of the game and that it needs PS4cheater, but I've seen someone in the community creating cheats using ai but he didn't give the step by step guide.

So can you help me out if you know anything about this?

HW Mod Issues with Dolphin on PS4

I recently just jailbroke my PS4 and got some of my roms onto Dolphin but I'm having issues with it reading the roms. Like I have Paper Mario TYD and it's hack Book of Mario Thousands of door. The emulator says there's two disks and going into the Root folder of my PS4 and the original game and the hack are two separate ISOs and the titles are different.

The same also goes for Pokemon XD but in the other way. For some reason it reads it as 2 disks, 2 separate ISOs in the root folder. But it's playing the XG Next Gen Hack instead of the main game. Is there anything I'm missing in settings?

Thank you.

Release [Beta Testing] PS4-AnyController v1.2.0-beta.1 — Looking for testers!

Hey everyone!

I've just released PS4-AnyController v1.2.0-beta.1, and I'm looking for people who can help test it with different controllers and PS4 configurations.

PS4-AnyController is a homebrew payload that lets you use compatible third-party USB controllers on a jailbroken PS4. It works system-wide through a virtual DualShock 4, so you can use your controller on the home screen, in menus, during sign-in, and in games.

What's new in this beta?

  • Generic HID support: Automatically detects and parses compatible USB controller inputs without needing a custom profile for every model.
  • More controller protocols: Improved support for Xbox 360, Xbox One/Series, and Nintendo Switch Pro controller modes.
  • Early DualSense support: Basic input handling has been added, but DualSense and DualSense Edge compatibility still needs to be tested on an actual PS4.
  • Improved initialization and diagnostics: Fixes and improvements to controller detection, virtual pad initialization, configuration, and debugging.

How you can help

Download the beta from GitHub and give it a try!

Release: https://github.com/ElZeeky/PS4-AnyController/releases

If you test it, please share your results! You can also find the project's Discord invite on the GitHub page if you'd like to help with testing and follow development.

Thanks to everyone willing to test the project. I'm looking forward to seeing which controllers we can get working!

Discussion What to do with jailbrakeable PS4 12.00 if I also have PS5 JB?

I'm in the comfortable position that I did not game much on my PS5 fat for a couple of months, and the news of 13.60 relapse JB brought my attention to that, so I fired up my PS5 and I am exactly on 13.60. Stopped autoupdates etc, JB working. No fpkg yet, but PS4 pkg working flawlessly.

Browsing reddit brought me some PS4 news too, remembered I also still have my PS4 slim I have in another room also barely used. Fired it up: FW 12.00.

Any ideas what is worth to do with it what I can't do on my JB PS5?

Play games that want to call home

So I jailbroke my PS4 Pro last night. So if I want to play games I bought through the PS store like Garden Warfare and GW2, or like o just tried playing PGA 2K23, they need to call home. There a way around this or no?
