Thoughts on unanswered prayer
Hey all. I was hoping for a little bit of encouragement from a community that isnāt going to go straight to āGod isnāt answering your prayers because youāre living in sinā or the usual stuff they say.
Iāve had prayer answered before and sometimes quite spectacularly. Iāve seen it answered in others too, particularly in my home group. I know that god is good and that he answers prayer. he intervened when my son was in hospital with a serious illness, I had my whole church praying for him, and whilst his recovery was long and hard there were things about it that just didnāt make sense outside of gods hand. Another time when I was going through a really hard season I was overwhelmed with the love of god for a full night, with a deep awareness that it was god, absolutely no doubt. Iāve never experienced anything like that before or since.
Iām feeling frustrated and guilty because there are two things Iāve been praying for consistently for months and thereās just no movement. Iāve been praying for a new home thatās big enough for me and my family as we are in social housing and overcrowded. I sleep in the living room. Iāve pared down my possessions to the bare minimum and thereās still no room. Iāve prayed about housing before when we were experiencing awful ASB in our estate and god answered those prayers which Iām so grateful for. But still not about moving. Iāve also prayed for help with my own health, I experience musculoskeletal pain that disturbs my sleep and Iām so tired all the time. I feel like Iām living a half life at this point. I read that for healing prayers itās more powerful to pray with authority rather than begging prayers and Iāve tried that too, but it feels odd and I also feel like if god knows whatās in my heart all the time anyway I am sure he isnāt waiting for me to say it in the right words.
I feel so bad because god has been there for me on lots of occasions and I know I sound ungrateful but I donāt understand why he isnāt moving in these areas when they are causing so much difficulty for me and my family. I know this is just the age old question isnāt it. And there arenāt any new answers. Iām trying to be honest with him about how itās shaking my faith and praying for the gift of deeper faith. i feel awkward in prayer at the moment.
I donāt know. I guess what it is is that I feel abandoned, but then feel guilty about feeling that way after everything god has done for me. Like how dare I be disappointed and confused when the literal creator of the universe has deigned to answer my silly little requests on other occasions, lol!
Any words of encouragement and advice, or prayers would be so gratefully received. Thank you.

Discussion - General Is your faith intense, unconventional, or something most people around you don't share? Documentary filmmaker looking to hear from you
Hi all, I'm Joseph, an independent filmmaker based in the UK, working on a documentary about religion as people actually live it.
I'm looking to talk to people for whom faith is a central part of life, especially if your beliefs, practices, or experiences are unusual, intense, or not widely shared. That could be a spiritual experience that changed you, a conviction that sets you apart from others in your church, or a path to faith that was anything but typical.
I'm not here to mock, debunk, or preach. I want to understand your faith in your own words and tell your story honestly. Participation is voluntary, and you can step back at any time. We'd start with a casual chat, and nothing is filmed until you're comfortable

Discussion - Theology End-Times
Hello guys, all the signs of the End-Times are slowly becoming true. The end-times is a period where immoral/disrespectful behaviour, fraud, corruption and deception (in the form of propaganda) are dominant. This was predicted in advance, thousands of years ago, by numerous world religions (Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Norse, Greek, Mayan...etc)
If you read history, you would learn that just a few centuries ago, most nations on earth were Theocracies, where authority and power was vested in the priestly class (Pope, Caliphs, Brahmins). The priestly class enjoyed the highest status in society because they were considered representatives of God on earth. Most people on earth were deeply religious and it was common for people worldwide (Europe, middle east, asia) to take religious vows of poverty, chasity, humility and sacrafice their entire lives for the sake of religion.
Nowadays in the 21st century, it is the opposite because people worldwide have become lustful, money hungry, arrogant, disrespectful/immoral. There are several wars worldwide and world news is filled with rumors of wars, violence and corruption cases. The billionaire upper class, none of them adhere to the principles of religion.
I recommend doing research into Religion and End-times (Eschatology):

Is it okay to have a syncretic or eclectic beliefs in worship
So uh...hey this is my first post here but uh I've been wanting to return to Christianity I've been possibly baptized at a church since I was young I don't remember
but throughout the years I have been struggling with my spiritual beliefs and throughout those years I have been switching alot from Atheist to Buddhist to Witch and then finally back to Christian.
I was enamored by devotion to Mary and the Saints but with the institutional Churches that is often attributed to them especially with their rules and dogma i just couldn't find myself joining it.
So I just wondered if a more eclectic form of worship could suffice especially since I have some beliefs of the afterlife that might not be supported by some denominations and supported by others like universalism.
So again if i have to ask is it okay if I have a more syncretic or eclectic beliefs meaning of catholic form of worship with devotion to mary and the saints and all that and some protestant beliefs though not necessarily Sola Scriptura

Grace Shining Through Chaos: Hosokawa Gracia, a Life of Faith and Dignity
In an era consumed by civil war, one woman stood firm in her quiet grace and spiritual freedom: Hosokawa Gracia (born Tama), daughter of Akechi Mitsuhide and wife of Hosokawa Tadaoki.
Following the Honno-ji Incident, in which her father betrayed his lord Oda Nobunaga, she endured years of harsh isolation as the "daughter of a traitor." Moving to their estate in Osaka, she encountered Christianity. Evading her intensely jealous and strict husband, she secretly visited a local church during his absence, engaging in direct theological dialogue with the priests to receive the baptismal name "Gracia"āmeaning God's Grace. Despite enduring severe domestic trials, including heavy confinement and the expulsion of her close ladies-in-waiting, she remained steadfast in her faith. The Jesuit missionary Luis Frois marveled at her resilience and intellect, writing that her quick intelligence, talent, and mind were beyond words.
In 1600, on the eve of the historic Battle of Sekigahara, when the rival commander Ishida Mitsunari attempted to take her hostage, Gracia chose to surrender her life to save her remaining servants while upholding her faith. Because suicide was forbidden in Christianity, she instructed a loyal servant to assist in her execution, peacefully embracing her martyrdom.
Her farewell poem captures her noble spirit:
"Knowing when to fall makes a flower a true flower, and a person a true human."
Her heroic legacy crossed the oceans, inspiring the European opera Mulier Fortis (The Valiant Woman), performed at the Habsburg court. Today, her unwavering dignity continues to inspire hearts around the world across all borders.

Vent I donāt know what my future looks like
I am terrified for the coming months.
For the last 9 months, Iāve been working in my churchās office. I love it there and I wish I didnāt have to go, but Iāve been let go starting October 30th. At the beginning of the year I was living rent free with family, but I moved into my own place 6 months ago with my cat. My rent is as cheap as it gets for where I live at $1100/month. If I can keep my apartment for the next year, Iāll be boosted to the top of the waitlist for government housing (it was part of my rental contract, long story.)
Iām struggling a lot right now. I have undiagnosed chronic pain. Itās worse under stress, being on my feet too long, or lifting heavy items. Itās mostly in my back, shoulders, wrists, and legs. Due to this, Iām struggling to find work. Office jobs are very few and far between right now, and most jobs require far too much physical labor for my body to handle even part time.
I have no idea what to do next. My doctor is misogynistic as hell and extremely ableist, so he will not help me apply for disability.
My mental health is at an all time low, and being AuDHD is not helping!! I want to trust that God has a plan for me and my future. He gave me my job at the church, but I donāt know why heās taken it away and Iām scared.
My parents canāt offer any financial support being disabled themselves. A lot of others in my life are telling me to work despite my pain, but Iāve done that before and I canāt manage it right now.
I canāt shower. I can barely keep my apartment clean. I canāt handle laundry or even grocery shopping. Iām relying on my last few paychecks and the kindness of my friends to help me through right now, but I feel so horrible doing that. I feel like Iām mooching off of everything, like Iām a lazy leech thatās too stupid to take the next step.
Please if anybody has some advice on what I should do, tell me. And please pray for me.

Discussion - Sex & Relationships It is a sin to have sex the Sunday?
The 4 commandments say to keep the Sabbath day, so Sunday, holy. So I was supposed that have sex is forbidden this day, but in reading it, I find it's more about work. Like you need to rest the Sunday, it's forbidden to work. So not sure if it's fine or forbidden.

Inspirational Some crosses have been making and giving away completely free. Just wanted to share
galleryI wanted to share something I've been doing lately.
I've been making handmade wooden crosses and giving them away completely free to anyone who would like one.
Along with the regular-sized crosses, I've also been making smaller ones that I pair with pocket-sized New Testaments containing the four Gospels (obviously not a replacement for the entire bible, but for a lot of people that might feel a bit intimidated with the entire Bible I feel this is a much easier introduction for them)
Just to be clear, Nothing I make or give away is for sale, and I make zero profit by doing this. Everything is 100% free, with no strings attached. If anyone chooses to donate toward what I'm doing, every penny goes directly back into purchasing materials so I can continue making more crosses to give away.
My goal isn't to push anything on anyone or pressure people into conversations about faith. I simply want to make these available to anyone who wants one. And if that opens the door for a conversation about Jesus, the Gospel, or questions someone might have about faith, I'm always more than happy to have that conversation.
At the end of the day, this isn't about trying to make a profit or trying to force faith on anyone. It's simply about using something I enjoy doing as an opportunity to point people back to Christ.
Galatians 2:20
āI have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.ā

Is George going to heaven?
George was raised as a Christian but he became an atheist when he was around 28. Now George is a Hellenic polytheist. He primarily worships Apollo. He has an Apollo shrine where he lights candles and incense and gives praise to Apollo.
George is married and has two children. He works as a dentist. He coaches his sonās basketball team. Everyone who knows George says that he is a fundamentally decent person. He has never murdered, or raped, or stolen anything, but sometimes he loses his temper while stuck in traffic and he had sex with a prostitute before he got married.
Unbeknownst to George, he is going to get in a car accident tomorrow and will die. Will George go to heaven? Why or why not?

Discussion - Sex & Relationships Being ashamed of my kinks and enjoying NSFW media (please read all before comment) NSFW
Recently, I discovered that I am a masochist. I like physical pain, but it doesn't aroused me. I just enjoy the sensation of spanking. But I have a degradation kink, maybe with humiliation, it turn me on to be degraded. (I'm not much into verbally humiliation, more sexual humiliation) I'm also interested into power exchange dynamic and pet play.
A thing I want to precise: I'm not interested into having a partner. I don't feel any sexual attraction towards people. It's only fantasy or solo. (The only "person' I feel sexual attraction isn't real lol. I say attraction, not luxure. Of what I understand, luxure is when you objectified someone, even if he's fictional, I don't.) I don't have the intention of having a partner(at least, "real" one), if one day I have one, it will be because God have decided it. I want to precise, because I don't want have comment "if your partner is consent, no problem" I don't have a partner and not interested into having one.
I also enjoy sexual fiction, especially sadomasochism one. I really like dark/psychological yaoi/BL. I daydream, kinda a lot or litlle, depending of my mood, about sexual fantasies, involving characters I have created. I don't feel attraction toward them, it just for fun. Exploring different type of dynamic, with different type of characters. Often involving my kink, who is power exchange and pet play, with humiliation, degradation, and BDSM in general. Can be more extreme cause it's only in my head. It also can involve sadomasochism, sometimes in a extreme way. (But always consent)Like I say, I don't really feel aroused by it. I don't masturbates when I daydream about it. The reaction I can have, for both reading and daydream, is like a teenager girl who enjoys fluffy romance. (Like: xeidjsmeksk it's so cute!!". I have the same reaction with fluff than smut lol)
I'm really ashamed to like it, even if it doesn't aroused me. I am ashamed of be aroused by the idea of getting humiliated and degraded. I am ashamed to enjoy and be aroused by the idea of be "someone pet" (the "someone" is a fictional character , always the same, for precision.) I am ashamed to enjoy wear a dog collar, imagining I belong to him. I am ashamed to enjoy NSFW media. I am ashamed to enjoying daydream about sexual things. I am ashamed to daydream about bdsm.
I have tried to stop, I have try to ignore it. But it always come back.. I don't know if it's liking that who is the problem or if it's the shame I feel for liking it. I feel like I can't look at God because I like that. But even if I do like it doesn't exist, it's still exist. Even if I ignore my degradation kink, it still here. And will always be. I had it as long I remember, even when I was a kid. I'know trauma get it worse, but I think it was maybe even before. Sometimes I wonder why God gave give me a degradation kink if it's something bad. They say it's God who decides and control everything, so it's mean that He decide our kink, no? Even if it's not, how I'm supposed get "rid of it"? I have try, but I start to wonder if it's not a part of myself, that I can't get rid of it. It doesn't bother on my daily life, in fact, it sometimes had help me, to deal with anxiety and depression. For the first, I can act on it, but always solo. For the second, it's just daydream. Both doesn't involve other person. I consider the second like a hobby. I don't always do it, sometimes I find sexual fiction boring, and just don't daydream nor read/watch it. Like I say, I have try to stop it, I have try to stop daydreaming, reading/watching but I don't succeed. I also have try to stop "acting' on my degradation kink and sexual stuff. But it's difficult because I have a big libido, I'm often horny for no reason. So it can give me frustration, the sensation of be horny is overwhelming.

Did anyone here not grow up in a fundamentalist/conservative environment?
So for context, I go to a United Methodist congregation and sing in the choir and sometimes play the guitar there. I was baptized and confirmed in the Roman Catholic Church. My mother is Catholic but disagrees with the church on contraception and LGBTQ issues. My father is a Lutheran, specifically ELCA, which is theologically liberal. I never grew up being told that you can't be a Christian and vote for a particular party. I never grew up being told that Bible is completely without error and must be read literally.
Part of why I find deconstruction stories so fascinating is because I didn't grow up in an environment that justified deconstructing my way to progressive Christianity. Basically, I was raised a progressive Christian.
So I'm curious to know if anyone else on here grew up a progressive Christian. I'm not trying to upstage people who deconstructed. Deconstruction stories are important and deserve to be heard. But I realize that I'm simply lucky that I didn't get exposed to ideologies like Christian nationalism as a child.
