Decent natural opals found in pot metal pendants
Went thrift shopping today and came across a place with tons of jewelry, so I took a look around. Most of it was costume but a few things stood out to me, because the stones had inclusions. Long story short ended up buying them. I went to inspect them with some wire cutters and a screwdriver and found out the setting was gold plastic over pot metal. However, the stones where real! 2 white opals and 2 tiny rubies. The larger opal oval has good play of color and good size. The other one is milky but still good. The rubies are tiny but appear unheated. Opals show strong blue, green and blue. Teardrop shaped opal has no play of color but occasional red opalescence.

Are these opals identified accurately?
All but 1 of these necklaces looks like Ethiopian to me. Are they identified correctly in the descriptions? The prices just seem too low if they are as described.

Examples of opal rough and their price please!
I am going to meet up with an opal dealer I was recommended to by a friend this week to buy some Australian rough. My friend says the guy is trustworthy but in opals and nuclear arms deals, you should trust, but verify.
I have looked at eBay and opal auctions to try and train my eye for rough prices but to further this training my training, could people please post pictures of rough they have with the price you bought it for/think it’s worth? Thx so much!

4.8 ct. Doublet (NFS)
Just finished this doublet tonight. It was Lightning Ridge material that was pretty sand included. I knew I could get the sand out, but also knew my final stone would be thinner than I would like. Instead of cutting it into a couple of smaller stones that would have been OK, I decided to make a larger doublet. Very bright and turned out almost great IMHO. Small amount of webbing in face and 2 microscopic pits...but I'm a sucker for a green/blue play of color especially if it's on a black background.
