M365 Family 2TB shared pool nerf: What are the best alternatives for multi-user cloud storage?

The storage policy change was incredibly sudden, leaving no grace period for users with upcoming renewals.

My family is completely stuck. We have 6 users who have been using the camera auto-upload feature on our phones for years. As a result, almost everyone has around 800 GB of personal photos and videos stored, bringing our total to over 4 TB of data.

Our subscription is up for renewal right now, and I honestly don't know what will happen to our files if we renew under the new 2 TB pooled limit.

Are there any viable alternatives out there that offer similar multi-user storage? We are ready to migrate ASAP.

I am not sure about pricing for Office 365 personal which comes with 1 TB account (have read, even that 1 TB accounts are changed to 10 GB)

A STRICT NO TO MICROSOFT, WE HAVE BEEN USING THERE SERVICES FOR PAST 5+ YEARS

How do I clear my microsoft teams status message without using teams?

• Upvotes

i realized today that i have an old teams status message that shows up on my outlook for others that i want to delete, but i cannot access teams to clear it.
when i open teams it says, "You don't have the required permissions to access this org
Talk to your IT admin for more info or switch to another account."
is there a workaround or a way through outlook i could do this? i've tried looking around microsoft websites but they all say to go to teams. I have also looked in my microsoft 365 settings, but i dont see a way to edit it there either.
i wanted to attempt to find a way to fix this without asking IT to clear it for me before i go to them.

helppp😥😥😭

Any way to make Outlook run on startup and in background when closed (instead of minimizing it) ?

Transfer Microsoft Authenticator to new phone

In the past Microsoft Authenticator had an option in Settings to backup to iCloud. That was a great feature because on new phone those accounts would re-appear. I'm getting a new phone and noticed that the option to backup to iCloud is no longer available in Microsoft Authenticator. How do I get those accounts onto the new phone?

Why is it that whenever I create a complicated document, it starts disintegrating

Hi all, university student here. We use the Office Suite at my school, so I'm often using powerpoint, excel, and especially word. I have noticed over my four years at school that whenever I create a complicated document (specifically speaking for Word here, but has happened with others), it genuinely starts disintegrating. I'm serious.

What I mean by this is that when I have a document with lots going on (page numbers, footnotes, endnotes, lots of text, tables), eventually it will just stop working. I can't get quotation marks to go the right way, I can't delete a footnote (stays embedded in the pdf...I genuinely had to make a copy without the footnote to keep writing), page numbers breaking (going against my own format), and spacing issues (paragraph indents vanish, text gets clumped together or spaced weirdly).

These are just the examples I noticed today in my frustration writing a term paper, but this has happened constantly and manifested in many more ways than I mentioned.

Why does this happen and is there any way to fix this?

Stuck in an endless loop on "You've lost access to your email" / Unable to set a new primary alias

I'm currently locked out of my Microsoft account and stuck in an infinite loop during the login process.

When I sign in, I am greeted with the prompt:

"You've lost access to your email. The inbox you've been using is no longer available... You haven't lost access to the other services you use with your Microsoft account. However, you must choose a new primary alias to continue."

On the "Verify your information" screen, it asks me to re-enter my password and select an option under "What do you want to do?":

  • Create a new email address as your primary alias
  • Use an existing email address as your primary alias
  • Use an existing alias as your primary alias

No matter which option I select or what email address I try to provide, hitting "Submit" immediately leads to this error screen:

"An error occurred while updating your information. The information may or may not have been saved. Please sign in again to continue with the flow."

Signing in again just restarts the exact same cycle, and nothing is ever saved.

What I have already tried:

  • Incognito / Private browsing window
  • Different browsers (Edge, Chrome, Firefox)
  • Clearing browser cache and cookies
  • Attempting from a completely different device and network

Has anyone encountered this specific error loop before or found a workaround to successfully update or bypass the primary alias prompt? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Unpopular opinion: Office 365 signatures should never be standardized with one giant mail flow rule

Unpopular opinion: using one giant Exchange Online mail flow rule to standardize Office 365 signatures is asking for a mess. My reasoning is that one wrong scope can hit every mailbox, department exceptions get buried, and testing with one account tells you almost nothing.

We learned this after I added the signature rule for our 140 users and selected the whole tenant instead of the pilot group. For about 20 minutes, every external email had our sales banner, legal footer, and a giant blank space where the job title should be. A few clients replied asking if our emails had been hacked. I feel so embarrassed even typing that.

I get why admins like native Exchange rules, especially when budgets are tight, but for a growing company I think email signature software with groups, approvals, and a real pilot is safer. What is the strongest argument against that?

IPv6 / IPv4 users (dual stack) flapping back and forth and having poor performance.

Anyone else seeing home users on dual stack enabled home networks suddenly having performance issues on SharePoint, or having conditional access issues from flapping between IPv6 and IPv4?

It isn't one ISP but the behaviour is the same, conditional access logs show the users IP flapping between IPv4 and IPV6 and the user reports problems with Office365 services of all kinds being slow.

Disabling IPv6 seems to work around the issue but isn't really a long term solution.

Edit: they only report performance and connection issues with Office365 services.

Why can I not login without my phone?!?!

Post image

I am currently on my work machine. I am logged into Edge, Teams, Outlook etc.

I have a stupid legacy personal account that for some reason Microsoft allows to have the same email as a business account.

I don't have my phone with me today, but the ONLY ways that I can verify require me to have a phone?!

Why can I not auth through my iPad (which is logged in with my 365 account) or on one of the apps on my Mac, or via Email or with my password being sufficient?!

Backup solution for Outlook ?

Simple question... how can i backup my mail included attachments from the last 13 years into a readable, searchable form? Not just a simple pst file where everything is missing. A really offline backup of everything.
