Grocery Outlet Falls Church Review

Thumbnail gallery
53 Upvotes

Hi I’m Emma and I run a little free pantry in Alexandria so I’m always on the lookout for good deals on food. I’ve hit the classics: Aldi, dollar tree etc but went to grocery outlet in falls church for the first time yesterday. I was impressed with some of the deals and wanted to share. Not everything was cheaper than normal and definitely check expiration dates!

Currently they are running a sale for a dozen eggs for $1. Also had vegetable broth that expires soon for 2/$1. I captured a few pictures of some deals I bought personally but definitely recommend checking them out!

Other For anyone in NOVA who struggles with anxiety, what helps you cope?

• Upvotes

I feel like mental health isn’t talked about enough on here, so I wanted to ask anyone in NOVA who deals with anxiety what helps them get through it.
I recently started medication, and I know it can take some time to kick in. In the meantime, I’m trying to find things that help me manage my anxiety and get through the day. Whether it’s certain activities, routines, going for walks, therapy, or anything else that has helped you, I’d really appreciate hearing your experiences.
I know everyone is different, but sometimes it helps just to hear from other people who understand what you’re going through.
I’m genuinely looking for advice and a little support, so please be respectful. If you don’t have anything helpful to say, that’s okay, just keep scrolling. ❤️
Thank you!

Question Dominion energy bill is way to high

Thumbnail gallery
162 Upvotes

Because of the cooler weather, we’ve had the AC off for no joke 2 weeks. When we kick it on, we cool it to 73-75. It seems like our bill is only increasing. Is there anyway to lower this?? We live in a two story townhouse - 1,500 sqft, and we are on the bottom section. We have 4 adults, 2 of which are not here for over 12 hrs of the day including weekends. I tried to call dominion about it and they provided with zero helpful solutions. I see people only paying like $150-$200, how??

Clouds Today Were Amazing

There were quite a few lenticular clouds. Unfortunately I didn't have my mirrorless camera with me. So only have phone camera pictures to post. Share your pics, if you were able to capture the insane colors in the sky today.

Nova teachers income question

These silly monthly spend questions got me thinking…
I’m a teacher and do okay but I wouldn’t be able to afford the lifestyle I have without my partner who works in tech (surprise!). In fact, I wouldn’t even be able to live here without roommates and scrimping and saving.
If you are a teacher in the area, what does your spouse do for work? Would you be able to live alone comfortably without them?
And for single teachers who live alone: how do you manage?

Jobs Extremely Hopeless Job Search

For context: F 25 years old. Came into this country 3 years ago via marriage. I am not a US citizen but have Green Card. Graduated with Masters in Cybersecurity and havent been able to get any interviews whatsoever. I have cleaned up my resume, gone through several ATS screening methods. Most jobs require clearance or to be US CITIZENS. I’m targeting IT helpdesk jobs and even those have 0 luck.

As far as my work experience goes, i do have 2 years of IT helpdesk experience in past from 2020-2022 but no luck. Been over 6 months and i’m considering switching careers. Any word of advice as to what field i can get into where there is a better job market in NOVA?

No dental insurance needed! This is a great opportunity for anyone without dental insurance or anyone looking for affordable dental care.

All services are performed under the supervision of licensed dental hygienists and dentists.

A few things to know:

  • Appointments typically take 3–4 hours because we are students and our instructors carefully check our work.
  • Depending on your dental needs, multiple visits may be necessary.
  • Patients of all ages are welcome!

Thank you so much for supporting dental hygiene students! ❤️

Monthly spend for family of 4?

Minus my mortgage, my family goes through $7500 a month. I’m curious if this is above/ below average for inside the beltway. I know the COL is high, but this seems excessive.

Edit: kids are 12 and 16

This is food, utilities, cell service, internet, dining out, a few streaming services, “other” spending. Nothing jumps out at me as over the top. We eat out 2-3 nights a week. No car payments.

News Plans unveiled for Confederate memorial that will be returned to Arlington National Cemetery

In 2023, the memorial was removed. In 2022, under the Biden administration, an independent commission recommended to Congress that the memorial be taken down, as part of a Defense Department push to remove names and symbols that commemorate the Confederacy from military-related facilities.

Last August, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced the memorial would be returned.

Rant “Hello we’ve been trying to reach you regarding your… (checks newest scam notes)… gas line warranty”

This is pretty close to being a scam, so a heads up to pass along to your impressionable friends and family that their gas lines are more than likely just fine without this totally optional “warranty” program.

Question Fairfax county permits

Post image
22 Upvotes

For homeowners in Fairfax county, do you get permits as recommended on the Fairfax website? Per the website, permits are required for stove replacements which is interesting.

I’m looking to replace exhaust fans in my bathrooms but the electrican is saying permits are not required.

Thoughts? What are others doing?
