  • Return by mail: Postmarked by November 3, 8 PM, and received by November 9.
  • Drop off: At an authorized Essex County ballot drop box or the county Board of Elections by November 3, 8 PM.

Find Essex County ballot drop boxes: https://www.nj.gov/state/elections/vote-secure-drop-boxes.shtml

Event 🗓 There's a live murder mystery happening at Newark Local Beer tomorrow night (Oct 23)

If you're looking for something different to do in Newark this Halloween season, there's a live murder mystery happening at Newark Local Beer tomorrow night.

It's called Ghostly Pursuits, and the premise is pretty ridiculous in the best way: a wealthy family is gathering for a Halloween party one year after a suspicious death. There will be themed cocktails, beer, food, family secrets, questionable characters, and apparently nobody can be trusted.

It's an interactive show, so guests get to follow the mystery and try to figure out who's responsible. Costumes are encouraged.

Newark Local Beer at 538 Broad st

Friday, October 23

7 PM

Tickets are available at the door for $15.00 or on partiful before the event for $10. Purchase discounted tickets here!

This is always my favorite spot in the park because I can use my infrared lut for my filmmaking.
I don’t see much infrared videos or photos around Newark.

Living in Newark 🧱 2026 Pre-Winter Hydrant Flushing IN EFFECT — City of Newark

Pre-Winter hydrant flushing is IN EFFECT for the next 30 days starting Friday, October 9, 2026. Your water may be temporarily affected.
When hydrant flushing takes place on your block, you may experience temporary brown water or low water pressure.
Wait 45 minutes, or until hydrant flushing is over, and then run your tap until the water runs clear.
About twice a year, hydrant flushing is performed citywide by the City of Newark Fire Division and the Department of Water & Sewer Utilities.
Hydrant flushing is necessary to remove sediment from water pipes, maintain high water quality, and ensure fire hydrants are working properly. Flushing can take anywhere from 5 to 45 minutes.
Spot an open fire hydrant, but don’t think it’s us? Report it at (973) 733-3655.
If you believe you are experiencing a water emergency, please call (973) 733-3655.
We thank all Newark residents for their patience as the city works to maintain water quality and ensure reliable infrastructure ahead of the winter season.
Check this page for updates about the City of Newark’s 2026 Hydrant Flushing Program.

This article is about New Jersey as a whole, but I just want to know how my fellow Newarkers feel. It brings up a lot of stuff I hadn't considered in the aftermath of Covid. This is speculation on my part but I wouldn't be surprised if this is part of yhe reason our youth is feeling more suicidal as was reported a couple years back in the Star-Ledger. I like that a path to healing is shown.

Questions about Moving to Newark ❔ Looking for houses, any suggestions?

Hello all, looking for a 2 or 3 bd and 1 to any bath, it would be helpful to find nice places close to NJIT. I am thinking about 2.2k or so, I am not sure if I'm being opportunistic or stupid here 😅. Any pointers can be very helpful folks, thank you for taking your time in advance.

Discussions 🗣|Rants 🤬|Opinions 🤔 I will always appreciate Newark as someone from jersey city

It literally feels like every other area in the north wants to be NY and down south wants to be Philadelphia. Especially when it comes to sports. Even in Jersey city, maybe it’s because of the transplants from everywhere in the country that move here, but idk. When the topic of sports comes up, most newark natives I know are completely onboard to have a Jersey team, but everyone else wants to root for the city teams next to us, and I wish all of Jersey had that mindset or pride. This state has gotten the reputation of being second fiddle but Newark truly defies that I feel.
