A Friendly Advice I thought getting my author website hosted, was going to be a huge expense

Anytime I have ever looked into having a website hosted, it would cost at minimum $100 a year or in many cases $300. Sure you could do it cheaper if you didn't mind having a WIX brand or some other mark. But, I wanted my own domain name too. I didn't want to have it be a subdomain on a free webhosting site.

Here is what I did to get mine hosted for under $20 a year.

I bought a domain name from NameCheap, but you can get them elsewhere too. I think I paid $15ish for the year, they told me next year it will be about $20.

Then I created a free GitHub account. GitHub can host a simple page for free and you can even have it use your personal Domain Name that you've purchased.

The catch is it's only a simple page. So if you want to set up a newsletter or reader database, you will need to insert a third-party app to your page. The third-party app would be the one to hold your reader data and email list. That probably has its own cost.

The success is that I'm still working on my first book, and I have secured my domain name, and now people can at least see it and know where to find me.

Beta-Readers Wanted! New book review request

Hello, I’m a new author with a military fiction book in the final stages of development. I’m looking to see if anyone is interested in reading or reviewing the manuscript (or even just sections)? I’m looking to gauge interest and get feedback, though if you were to enjoy it and make a review, It would be appreciated. The story is called Surviving Downfall and is about a company of standard infantry who participate in the invasion of the Japanese home islands at the end or World War ll, from mustering to the return home. I’ve been working on this book, on and off, for over thirteen years and am excited to be contracted with a publisher. Also, I’m new to Reddit, so please forgive the blank profile. Thank you for your consideration. My book cover is still in work so the photo is of a map included in the work.

Just Published. Launch of my debut novel = TODAY!

My debut novel - and the first in a series of ten books - officially launches today on ebook, paperback and audiobook!

The premise of the series is: What could happen, if humanity had Power?

Thoughts is about Katelyn, a woman in London who can read minds. It's a dark story about how she manifested her Power, how she wrestles with the morality of it, finds her purpose, and then meets someone who changes everything.

For fans of The Time Traveller's Wife and Gone Girl, the story is written around Powers that are as grounded in reality as possible, with a huge focus on the emotional side, exploring some of our deepest questions. It's a story that will make you think.

My Mum designed the symbol on the front cover, which is a Celtic labyrinth which happens to look a little brain-esque. I recorded the audiobook myself, too, which is a whole other beast!

The eBook is less than £2/€2/$2 so it's as accessible as possible. Unfortunately the lowest I could price the paperback without losing money was £19.99. Audiobook RRP £14.99 but Audible currently have 80% off (in the UK at least). Even the launch date (22 October) is a symbolic date in the book.

I only had one true advanced reader (someone I didn't already know) and she rated it 4 stars on Goodreads! If this sounds interesting to you I'd be super grateful if you could read it and leave an honest review on Amazon/Goodreads. Thank you all!

I just finished the draft on the last book of my series, The Shimmering Circus! If you are interested in the history of the circus or evocative atmosphere, or like second world stories with rich lore, you might like my series. I also drew all of the covers myself.

It is half set in a mysterious 1912 circus, and half in an uber rich Gilded Age style society. It contains hand drawn illustrations as well as epistolary elements (newspaper articles and letters), psychological themes, quirky history, and tons of political intrigue, secrets and mysteries.

The series page can be found here or at https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BHRT54QZ.

Book one, Avery's Ghost, can be found here.

It has a sweet romantic sub plot starting in book two, and coming of age themes. The series grows with my protagonist. Book three is a magical heist, while book four has a touch of spice, manners and plenty of mayhem, as well as magical debutante tournament.

This project has been my pet project for a decade, and I would appreciate support SO much. I spent hours drawing and writing it, and really put all of my heart into it. Since I just republished book one, any new readers will really help me especially right now. It's also available on kindle unlimited.

A spirit-talker's job isn't easy. Especially not when the prey bites back.

Jasper is a Spirit-Talker, a person with the task of fighting against the supernatural spirits that hinder everyday life, using words and weapons alike to get rid of the most harmful of these manifestations of desire.

Everything is business as usual, as he is called into another job, yet he finds out quite quickly that this spirit is unlike any he's seen before. Way out of his depth, he asks her a question, yet he is horrified to find she can comprehend all he says, and might even grow to agree to his terms.

"Love Bites" is a slow-burn introspective romance novel set in a world where the supernatural is close to mundane, yet far from completely understood.

I've recently published this novel, have gotten some very nice ARC reviews, currently sitting at a little over four stars on Goodreads, but I am having immense trouble marketing it. Can anybody tell me what avenues work in spreading knowledge about a novel?

Edit: Judging by the replies, it's clear to me that the blurb is misaligned with both the cover and the contents of the novel. The novel does have a lot of horror aspects, namely body horror and eldritch, but I do agree that's not very well presented by the blurb.
