NFC tag behind the print + phone tap = static photo plays as video.

Our partner found a use for the NFC tag in our VidaBay e-ink snap: first upload the static image to the Snap via NFC, then program the video URL into it, so that tapping the NFC tag behind the screen makes the static image come to life on the phone.

Tapped unknown NFC link - help

• Upvotes

Please be kind, I am not especially tech savvy.

iPhone 13 (I think) user. Had my iPhone with me, not near anything. I got an NFC link tag prompt. I distractedly clicked on it as I was waiting on a text reply from a friend. It took me to the Google sign in page. I did not sign in and a closed the site link. I am otherwise signed in to my own Google account. Nothing appears to be newly downloaded. Am I at risk? Is there anything else for me to do? Thank you in advance.

I built a virtual resort inside my iPhone NFC app, PocketNFC, where you can play with hotel keycards and access rules 👀

I've been building PocketNFC, an NFC toolkit for IPhone, and my tavourite addition is an interactive hotel simulator.

You can experiment with virtual cards without buying hardware, or go further with compatible physical cards and supported ACS or Chameleon Ultra readers. It's a sandbox I built for experimentation, so you can break your own setup without upsetting a hotel receptionist lol - I've done that many times.
The rest of the app handles everyday NFC reading and writing, saved cards and keys.

I'd love teedback from people who enjoy NFC, RFID and figuring out how things work.

Give it a go : https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/pocketnfc/id6794928657

Why do all smart wristbands look like rubber fitness trackers? Wanted to make one that feels like real jewelry instead.

Digital business cards and tap-to-share wearables have been around for a while, but nearly every wristband on the market is made of molded black silicone.

I wanted to create an accessory that blends in seamlessly with everyday fashion. I paired natural, organic textures with a discreet NFC chip inside, so it wears like a classic artisan piece rather than a piece of tech hardware.

But the hardware is only half of it. The real experience is what happens the moment someone taps it:

  • Any modern phone gets a gentle tap notification.
  • It opens a fast, clean web profile in their browser.
  • There’s no app to download and nothing to install. The person you’re meeting can tap "Save Contact" and your number, email, and social links are saved directly into their contacts in two seconds.

Curious to hear what people think—do you prefer tech that looks like tech, or tech that is completely hidden inside everyday fashion?

I wrote an Android sniffer app to hack my NFC E-Ink phone case

I have one of the NFC e-ink phone cases for my iPhone, and I've always found it to be a cool party trick. Lately, I looked at it again and thought, "Let's reverse engineer this." Turns out, there is no magic behind it. Claude was very helpful with decompiling the manufacturer apps, and we even wrote a sniffer app for Android. I initially thought it wouldn't work, but it did!

I wrote down my findings here, and I built some useful features into my app because I disliked the manufacturer's version. This case really sparked some ideas that I can now build.
