Dear Basketball,
I don’t even know where to start.
I’ve been playing 2K since the Allen Iverson cover days. Back when the game was about basketball, building your player meant making sacrifices, and everybody had a role. You had shooters, slashers, big men, lockdowns, and playmakers. Everybody brought something different to the court.
Now it feels like everybody wants to be everything.
GOAT builds, endless grinding, expensive VC, and a game that seems more focused on keeping people spending than keeping people playing. The skill gap is disappearing, and the identity that made every build special is fading with it.
Maybe I’m getting older. Maybe the game just isn't made for people like me anymore. But I remember when I could load up 2K and lose hours without even realizing it. I remember when getting better at the game meant something. When having a weakness made you think harder, play smarter, and depend on your teammates.
I’ve watched this game change for years, and I honestly believe it’s only going to get worse.
So maybe it’s time for me to walk away.
Not because I stopped loving basketball. Not because I stopped loving competition. But because sometimes you have to accept that something you grew up loving isn't the same thing you fell in love with.
You gave me countless hours, memories, rivalries, and moments I'll never forget.
But everything has its time.
Dear Basketball, I think it’s time to say goodbye.
Sincerely, It’s cooked
