Morrowind Modding Legacy - The Official Home of the Modjams

The Themes Have Been Announced! Modders have until August 24th at 00:00 UTC to submit a mod using one (or more) of the following themes: Arcane Arts, Forgotten Lore, Strange Families.

It's Summer time, and with the heat, and the humidity, comes another exciting round of the Morrowind Modjams! For the tenth time since 2020, Danae and Morrowind Modding Showcases is hosting a Modjam Modding Competition, a 48-hour modding frenzy where modders get but a single weekend to build the best mod they can using specific themes before time runs out!

The competition begins on August 21st at 11pm UTC with an official livestream kickoff by Danae, in which the potential themes will be revealed and voted on by the community, narrowing down the potential field until just three themes remain.

Once the final three themes have been announced, modders will have 48-hours to build and release the best mod they can utilizing any of those three themes, or a combo of themes if they so choose.

Rules & Guidelines:

  • Create your mod during the Modjam.,
  • Modders' resources are allowed.,
  • The use of AI is not forbidden, but should be disclosed.
  • Previous projects can be a source of inspiration, but please try to make something new for the event.
  • Most importantly, this is intended to be a friendly community event. Please focus on having fun and making something you enjoy.

Participation:

The competition is open to anyone and everyone looking to participate! All you need to do is release a mod with one of the themes (or multiple) during the competition time period using the official 2026 Summer Modjam header. Also wouldn't hurt to use the Modjams tag on the Nexus.

This is a Morrowind Modding Community - Discord Server event, so to make sure your mod is properly tracked for the competition, please join the server and tag it in the Published Mods channel!

There's also an official Modjam channel on there where you can keep up with all of the latest Modjam news!

Don't forget to check out the Resources page for any tutorials, frameworks, or utilities you might need!

Use the Postcard Editor:

Take advantage of the Morrowind Modjams website and the Postcard Editor to make special themed promo screenshots for your mod pages - give them that extra splash of Summer fun!

Judging and Prizes:

The Morrowind Modjams are judged events - a panel of judges will go through and play all of the submitted mods, ranking them on their quality, functionality, and adherence to the themes.

The final winners will be announced in a results livestream at a date yet to be determined, and those results will also be published to the Modjams website.

Participating modders will also get their profiles on the Modjam website, with downloadable Modjam passports and a trophy cabinet for any judge awards received. These profiles are connected to the Modathon and Madness sides of Morrowind Modding Legacy, and participating in the Modjam will boost your Madness score and increase your standing in the community's modding leaderboards.

There's also a number of prizes available in the form of game keys and Nexus DP.

A Proud Tradition:

The Morrowind Modjams are apart of the community's proud tradition of creative competition and collaboration. Some 160+ mods have been released for the Modjams in the past 6 years, many of them have become popular mainstays and have since been added to many of the largest mod lists for Morrowind.

I hope you'll all join us for another exciting round of Modjam fun, we're sure to get some amazing new mods, and if you're looking to participate for the first time, there's no better competition to dip your toes into the modding scene!

Happy Modding and Long Live the Morrowind Modding Community!

Announcement We're happy to announce that Project Cyrodiil and Skyrim: Home of the Nords are now updated for version 26.08 of Tamriel_Data.

Thank you for your patience since the release of the new TD update and Tamriel Rebuilt: Poison Song a couple of weeks ago while we dealt with some technical challenges. The update to the Abecean Shores release of PC includes a new player stronghold for the Kingdom of Anvil and Great House-style construction and improvement mechanics, a number of overhauled locations, and improvements to multiple quests. The update to the Dragonstar release of SHOTN includes 14 new dungeons, 6 new quests, and yet more overhauled locations. Both releases include scores of bugfixes, performance improvements, and general quality-of-life features not present in the original releases.

Please note that the file packages contain some loose files, which are intended to patch minor problems in Tamriel_Data discovered after the 26.08 release. These files should be allowed to overwrite upon installation.

Both PC and SHOTN may be freely installed mid-save with no problems, even if you've already started a savefile for Poison Song. We only recommend starting a new game if you had a previous version of PC/SHOTN installed on the same save and spent time in the PT lands. Please let us know in the discord server if you encounter any issues.

As always, thank you so much for your ongoing support of our project! We look forward to bringing you more of Cyrodiil, Skyrim, and other lands of Tamriel in future releases.

Project Cyrodiil can be downloaded at https://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/44922?tab=files

Skyrim: Home of the Nords can be downloaded at https://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/44921?tab=files

Featuring my lvl 61 Dunmer Spellsword Valderyn.

I've been starting and restarting Morrowind since 2019, but never quite managed to finish a full playthrough.

Finally committed to it this year and went all-in with a full completionist run. Had a blast from start to finish!

(Insert Danny DeVito "I get it now" gif)

Truly TES at its peak :,)

Discussion Playing Morrowind for the first time as a Skyrim lover and holy shit

Grew up with Skyrim, prob have thousands of hours since release. Loved oblivion remastered. Had put off playing Morrowind since i like controller support so I can dock my steamdeck and play while I hangout with my gf. I finally modded controller support and started a vanilla OpenMW playthrough.

Guys. I’m having a borderline religious experience. My god. I don’t know if I’ve ever played a game so profoundly sauced.

I have no one to talk to about this. How is this a quarter of a century old??

Mod Release Odd Jobs - Guild Work (Radiant Jobs OpenMW)

Thumbnail

• Upvotes

Hello again! So this is my fifth mod, and I think it's the one with the most potential. It's called Odd Jobs and Guild Work. (BETA) Excited to start work on a framework for custom jobs/open world dynamic events.

https://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/60635

A lot of the jobs happen out in the open world. Take one and the mod builds the scene for you, like smugglers landing on a beach at night or bandits holding up a road. When you're done it all gets cleaned up and the world goes back to normal.

I made it to give you another reason to wander. Morrowind is full of caves, ruins and little spots you walk right past, and I wanted notices that point you toward them and turn the trip into a small story. None of the jobs touch quest locations, so they're safe to take, and a lot of them send you places you probably missed on your playthrough. Work for the guilds also builds a bit of reputation with them, so it feels like you're actually part of things.

Notices get pinned on the outside walls of taverns, guild halls, Legion forts, East Empire Company offices and village inns. Nothing is hand placed. The mod finds real buildings, picks a wall by the door and pins the papers there, so it works across Vvardenfell and TR without me patching every cell. Click one and you get the board. Every paper looks like whoever posted it. A farmer's note is a stained scrap, the Fighters Guild has its own paper and seal, and the Legion posts proper orders. Take a job and its paper comes off the wall.

How the jobs work:

- enemies only show up after you take the contract. walk through a cave without the job and it's exactly how it normally is

- when you get there, the mod builds that job's group or open world scene right then. when you finish, drop it or let it expire, everything it added gets cleaned up. no leftover bodies and no permanent bandit camps from jobs you skipped

- some stuff only happens under the right conditions. smugglers and rituals come out at night, wreckage washes up after rain, and different regions post different trouble

- jobs don't scale to your level. each one shows its difficulty on the notice, one to four daggers. easy and normal stay fair for a modest character, dangerous gets you a named leader with backup, and elite is rare, only posted at big city guild halls, and a real fight

Kinds of work so far:

- clear out a cave, mine, ruin or tomb

- bring something back. sometimes it's in a chest, sometimes it's just sitting on a shelf and you have to look around (Detect spells can be useful here)

- bounties on named leaders, bring back their signet

- places you already cleared can get new tenants, and a champion you let go might come back tougher

- open world jobs: a wrecked cart missing its strongbox, bandits stopping people on the road, a beast taking herds, a lost guar you walk home, a smuggler drop on the beach at night, a ritual on a hill you have to stop in time, a stolen tax wagon, pirates holding a cove and more

- goods wanted. the Fighters Guild wants arrows and armour, the Mages Guild wants ingredients and soul gems with a specific soul in them, Legion forts put in supply orders. East Empire Company after bulk and rare goods, they pay the full value plus a bit, not the cut a merchant gives you

Jobs can take a turn too. A leader might surrender and offer you gold, a note might show the poster lied about who owns the thing, another adventurer might beat you there, or a letter on a leader points to another hideout and a follow up job goes up on the board.

Every system has its own toggle, so if you don't like something/buggy you can just switch it off. You can even set how exact the directions are, all the way down to nothing but what the notice says if you'd rather find it yourself.

The open world events are what I'm most excited about going forward. Down the road I want to release the core as a framework, so other modders can make their own jobs and events and just let it handle the spawning and cleanup.

It's still a beta. I'd try it on a new save or one you don't mind messing up, not your main character. If something breaks or a fight feels way off for its difficulty, tell me which job and where, that helps a ton. Also bind a key for the contract log in Options > Scripts > Odd Jobs, it doesn't have one by default.

Needs OpenMW 0.51, Tamriel Rebuilt, Tamriel Data and UIToolkit. Economy Plus is optional, if you have it the goods orders use its prices.

Technical - General Morrowind running on o3ds

Not emulation or streaming, this is an actual conversion of every file in morrowind into one processable on the old 3ds. i’m working on fixing an audio bug and getting the fps up. it’s currently hitting around 20. Disclamer: I did not create the process, i followed an in progress repo on github, and fixed small bugs as I went.

I know about the "ra" command to reset position, but as long as an NPC doesn't block a passage or is about to drown, I will let them move.

Discussion Am I the only one to be in a love-hate relationship with Morrowind?

• Upvotes

I mean, I love the game, the atmosphere, the music, the visual art style, the immersion and that weird unexplainable janky charm that Windows XP-era RPGs had… but at the same time, sometimes the old-school clunky design makes me a little bit frustrated and angry, but not that much, but I feel like despite the jank that can sometimes be frustrating , it’s still worth playing the game. Am I the only one who feels like this?

Question Does the end justify the means?

Hi everyone. I first played Morrowind as a kid without knowing any English. The game looked amazing to me but i never knew what should i actually do there. 15 years later i did the main quest and all i can say is that i am very touched and impressed by the lore. The most interesting part was the social structure of the world, and here come my questions for you ppl:

What do you think about a level of corruption in Morrowind?

What are you thoughts about Nerevar - is he a good or a bad person.

Is it ok to kill, steal and bribe everyone in order to achieve a noble goal or fight the evil?

Cheers! 🍺

Other Jabba syndicate

It took my way too long to realize the JN syndicate was just jabbas crime ring, complete with desert dome palace, orc/gamorrean guards, a basement rancor, and obviously a slug crime boss. It wasn't until I was walking out of the building that it dawned on me that I just became Luke and destroyed this crime syndicate.

Discussion How do people mod Morrowind??

I just spent 2 hours in the construction kit making some basic ass race mod just for the thing to tell me "nuh uh you can't save anymore this file is being used" and like... sure ok guess I'll just make a new file? But then later on I saved to the old file since I couldn't save to the new one cuz now the tool was using it and when I loaded it back my entire mod was gone. But yeah sure I just loaded back the other one and... half of my mod was gone?? And not like it undid my progress that I didn't save. All the custom spells and the custom race I had made were just completely gone and the only thing left where the models I made and put into the game for the new race.

Genuinelly how tf can people make shit like Tamriel Rebuilt and Project Tamriel I've only spent 2 hours with this engine and I already got screwed over in 3 different ways ;w;
