Episode 37: The Bell that Rings on Moonlit Nights (月夜になる鐘)
For Whom The Bell Tolls
A church bell had been ringing for many late nights straight. Some found it rather romantic, but many found it irritating. This time, the Inspector rushed toward the church to investigate but found nothing but a single leaf left behind again.
The next morning, Snork and the villagers came to the Inspectors, With not many clues to go by, Mr. Hemulen suspected that it was the work of God since the bell had not been rung since last Christmas, thus the bell was left rusting ever since. Regardless, the Inspector appointed that the church bell be removed for the time being.
At the church, everyone gathered to assist in removing the church bell. However, a group of Hattifatteners showed up unannounced and surrounded the villagers. They eventually stole their ladder away and left. Everyone was at a loss.
A New Mystery
At night, Moominpappa allowed Moomin out along with Little My, Sniff and Snufkin to conduct an investigation. The team found a group of Hattifatteners traveling around Moominvalley. The Hattifatteners were seen harvesting the leaves by the river and headed toward the church. Moominpappa soon joined up with the team observing the Hattifatteners whom returning to the church and rang the bell once again.
In the morning, Snork laughed about the strange behavior of the Hattifatteners being reported. Mr. Hemulen, however, claimed it was sacrilege and demanded the bell to be protected from the mischievous act. While Snork continued to laugh, he eventually agreed with Mr. Hemulen. However, Moomin suggested in investigating further by going to the Hattifatteners' Island.
Moomin, Snorkmaiden, Little My and Sniff disembarked toward the island. Upon arriving, they found no Hattifatteners there but Snufkin who had arrived before them. The five returned by dusk to find out that the Hattifatteners had instead completely overrun everyone's house and every inch of Moominvalley. As nothing that anyone here could do, they all camped out together under the moonlight. Snork continued to protest and lash out while everyone settling in.
The Matrimony
As the night went on, the bell began to ring as the Hattifatteners lined up toward the church. The people followed them to see the horde of Hattifatteners formed many patterns around the two particular Hattifatteners dancing together like a mating ritual. The two were then carried away by the horde. Moominpappa speculated that the particular two were getting married and Moomin then realized that the Hattifatteners had been polishing the bell for the special occasion tonight. Yet no one truly knew.
After the ceremony, all Hattifatteners soon left Moominvalley by their logged boats into the dark sea as everyone was a witness.

- The priest at the church from v1969 seemed to have entirely gone missing thus the church was seemingly abandoned.
- Mr. Hemulen suggested that the bell was last rung last christmas. Supposively, the priest there had left the church or unknown reasons.
- Unless the particular two were the special Hattifatteners, they might have seen societal matrimony and wanted to mimic it in their own term. Perhaps, they want to be like the others like how "Snork suggested that these creatures need culture and then proceeded to lock them up" like in the episode "Hattifatteners Get Angry"
