When in reality he was just showing what you truly are.
He showed you who you are by acting as your reflection, that you can look at and not avert your eyes from, in the end you accepted that part.
The parts you run away from to be considered a good human
He made them feel seen and validated, thus letting that side grow in you.
That's why he is a monster,
Not because he is one but he can turn you into one.

I took a fan translated PDF and designed the cover before printing using an online website. I even branded my initials on the back

... DISAPPOINTED IT ENDED. Oh my GOSHHH where do I even begin. This anime means so, so much to me and captivated me right from the very first episode. I so vividly remember biting the bullet and starting it after having concluded a particularly challenging exam season in September, since it'd been on my to-watch list for a long time. If I hadn't exercised some form of self-control, I am almost certain I'd have finished the show in a week. Alas, I was somehow able to resist by repeatedly reminding myself that I would have something to look forward to after studying each day. I love, love, loved the historical post-WWII setting and as a med student, I will always appreciate Dr. Tenma's unwavering devotion to his principles as a doctor (especially as he saved Johan's life a second time). Doctors are not the arbiters of justice and, to me, Dr. Tenma's journey is such a salient and beautiful reminder that no one is inherently more valuable than another, and every human life deserves the same chance to be saved. Watching him throughout the show, struggling with it, suffering for it, and ultimately choosing to stand firm on it will always be such an inspiration.
Since completing the last episode, I've literally been doing nothing but scouring reddit threads for any confirmation on the ending (specifically Johan lol), knowing full well anyone's guess is as good as mine... but I wouldn't want it any other way. Now onto chasing this high for the rest of my life :(

Is there a legal way to watch this anime in 1080p without getting a netflix subscription? It's one of my favourite mangas but I have never watched the series and I don't want to pay for an overpriced netflix subscription. I live in Belgium, idk if that matters but can it be purchased physically somewhere?

Say, if there exists someone in The Verse who is unaffected by His Intelligence & Good Looks & Charisma, but doesn't know who he really is beneath the mask/facade, how would He act?. That some random, healthy person can just sense that there is something wrong/off with/about him?.

A scene i don’t see get talked about enough, is this one with Johan. How i essentially interpretend this scene, is how Johan started to realize he might lose the whole ideology battle against Tenma.
My first time seeing this scene, i was assured he made this face because he was afraid to die, and the thought of death finally crossed his mind. But Johan wanted to die, he wanted to get killed by Dr.Tenma and complete the “perfect suicide”, being the last person alive when the world ends, and leaving his terrible legacy in Tenma and Anna’s memories.
But after rewatching the show, i viewed this scene completely different, and had a different interpretation of it. Johan wasn’t exactly afraid of dying, but rather afraid of the fact that Dr.Tenma might not shoot him after all, which is exactly what Johan had planned for. And it is in this very moment, i feel like Johan truly lost.
Johan picks up a gun and aims it at Wim, trying to provoke Tenma and force him to shoot him. In his head, he probably imagined it as: “either you shoot and kill me, or i kill the kid, either one is dying by your choice”. But as we know, Johan wouldn’t usually do such a drastic move out of his own will. Johan is known for being very careful, organized and precise with his murders, to the point noone can even tell it was him who committed it. Johan usually had everything planned out, he had foreseen every single possible outcome, exept this one final time.
Johan acted out of desperation, without thinking, he pointed the gun towards Wim, expected to get shot by Dr.Tenma, but instead got shot by a father who was simply protecting his son from a monster. Johan had gotten away with every crime previously, but got defeated by a man trying to protect his son, which was something completely out of his control. The moment Johan acted out of character, and we see his breaking point, is also the moment he gets defeated by something as random as parental love, which i find very fascinating, because this type of love, was something he never got to have.

(Please don't roast me if I missed something obvious!)
I finished the Monster anime a while ago. Since it's such a long series (74 episodes), my memory is a bit foggy and I've forgotten a few details, so please bear with me! I have two main questions:
1. About Dr. Rudi Gillen:
Why did Gillen seem so "safe" and completely out of Johan's path of destruction? I remember Dr. Reichwein was actively targeted by Roberto at his office and was only saved because Tenma was secretly guarding him. Meanwhile, Gillen lived alone, and Tenma easily tracked him down to his place, yet Gillen never seemed to be actively targeted or in any real danger from Johan's people. Is there a specific reason for this, or did I miss a detail?
2. About Richard Braun:
I watched the series with Vietnamese subtitles, and I don't recall any confirmation that Richard actually had alcohol in his system when he fell from the roof. I've seen a few readers/viewers online mention that he was found with alcohol in his blood, but I couldn't find where this was explicitly stated. Can anyone clarify if this was mentioned in the anime or manga?
Thanks in advance for the help!

I've reached episode 22 and I'm loving it so much, it's the first time I'm watching Monster. If it keeps up this pace narratively as well, I'm sure it will become one of my favorite anime. No anime has kept me glued to the screen like this one so far, there hasn't been a single boring or dull moment.

He's so gorgeous and beautiful. And his middle name being Johan can't be a coincidence. He just needs the Johan hairstyle.

Anna is a better character than Johan
