Disclaimer: I'm one of the developers.

Hey everyone! 👋

We are beyond excited to announce that we're officially back online and relaunched!

https://monero.vegas

✨ What’s New in This Relaunch?

We didn’t just come back. We came back better:

🎱 Massive Plinko Action: Your favourite Plinko game just got dialed up to eleven. It used to require one transaction output per ball. It now officially supports up to 100 balls in a single game in a normal, one output transaction! 🤯

🇺🇸 US Players Welcome Again: Our servers and the main entity behind Monero Vegas is now in beautiful San Jose, Costa Rica as we're preparing to expand into other games and domains. This move means that we can now serve US players directly.

⚖️ Example Code for Provably Fair: Instead of just relying on a text description, our fairness page now features a full example implementation so you can easily verify the math and fairness yourself. The algorithm is also updated to handle future games.

🎁 Looking Ahead

We also want to issue a sincere apology for the delay on another massive product we were hoping to launch sooner. It’s been pushed back but we promise it’s going to be worth the wait. Keep your eyes peeled this November because something huge is dropping. 👀

💰 Higher Limits Coming Soon

We know many of you have been asking for it. We'll be rolling out increased bet limits very soon!

🔍 Why the Break?

We want to be completely transparent about why we took a break. In early 2026, we experienced a dip in game volume but more importantly our team was completely buried under major jurisdiction changes. We aren't a hobby project anymore. To handle our ongoing transition into an actual business we had to cash out our house bankroll to cover our costs. This meant very low, unplayable limits for our game.

Important Note: Every single winner was paid out in full and every single winner will continue to be paid out promptly. Our liquidity and commitment to you have never wavered.

https://monero.vegas

Thank you to everyone who stuck by us, reached out and supported us. We couldn't have done this without this community.

Hop in, check out the updates, drop some balls and let us know what you think in the comments below. Let’s play! 🔥

Just wondering, since I see “Current Version: 0.18.5.4” but the download link points to v0.18.5.3 for all distributions. The download file hashed hashes list reflects the 0.18.5.4 files, so obviously they don’t match.

This is the weekly Monero market thread. This thread will be posted every Friday and is meant to help accelerate the adoption of Monero. Due to r/moneromarket having only a fraction of the subscribers of r/Monero, we have decided to create this thread to encourage more individuals to use Monero for product exchanges. Until the market matures, we recommend that the Monero community post their products both in this thread and on r/moneromarket (to ensure growth of that subreddit).

Selling items for Monero will boost your (and Monero's) reputation as a legitimate form of exchange of goods. This is necessary for the growth of Monero, our community, and privacy as a whole.

Instructions

When you post your product or job listing here, please make sure to: - Give a description of the item. - Link to a photo of the item (if it's physical). - Provide logistics information (such as, location and/or shipping availability). - Optionally, provide an additional (private) form of communication outside of Reddit (e.g. Bitmessage, u/protonmail, u/tutanota, GPG key). - Post the price in XMR terms.

Spamming will not be tolerated. Please make sure that listings are legitimate and do not break rule 2."

Finally, credits to cdotsubo for starting the concept!

I've had an idea like this for a long time and always wanted a more interesting way to just sit comfy and stare at our mining data across the several PCs that we've been running for several years now on our amateur little farm, alternates between jazz music variety in the day and switches to ambience only at late night. The livestream description explains it all but there are several animation triggers for various events like shares earned, block rewards, etc that happen every few minutes or hours / sizes of the logs and fire change with the hashrate, etc. My mind very much lives in the old Windows 98 screen savers (like the haunted house) which I love and have some more ideas to integrate cheeky animations like that every few minutes if you're lucky enough to catch it live.

Would love to hear any suggestions or ideas!

The International Criminal Court (ICC) is an international tribunal situated in the Hague. It was created under the Rome Statue in 2002 to prosecute individuals for the international crimes of genocide, crimes against humanity, war crimes, and the crime of aggression.

Recently, the US State Department announced financial sanctions against the ICC to "protect US interests".

Is it time for the ICC to kick the petrodollar?

Would dedollarization help them be freer to consider cases involving international child sex trafficking rings or multi-decade environmental crime syndicates?

Why?

Even taking into account the fact that XMR cannot be checked for an "AML score", this exchange can simply freeze your incoming deposit and demand that you provide documentary proof that you are not a camel.

Tired of bloated setups? I built monero-pay in pure Go. It's a 100% free, open-source, and self-hosted payment gateway. No KYC, no censorship, no third parties.

The hook: It uses a P2P air-gapped architecture. Your frontend runs on a public VPS, but your wallet-rpc and private keys stay completely isolated on your secure intranet.

Single binary, SQLite, Webhooks included.

Before real merchants use this, I need privacy maxis to test the API and find bugs. Please roast my code!

It's not lost on me how vibe coded projects are generally received by this community.

It feels like a significant amount of vibe coded releases on this sub are either cookie cutter bs that gets abandoned a month after its initial announcement, or it's some bs that matches something that already exists and has been tried and trusted, created generally by human hands. Most of the criticism I see in the comments of these projects is completely justified imo.

At the same time, I was inspired by the graphs in Rucknium's paper after the black marble attack back in March 2024. I've spent a long time over the past year working on different iterations of node dashboards for myself that let me look at what's going on in my node in real time, and see much more easily what's actually happening and visually graphically see the entire monero's network data direct from my own node.

What started as a fun project displaying live cli metrics on my monitor has since turned into a multi-layered hub where I can do things like seeing a cluster of connections on the same subnet from my phone over tor, thinking "eh I don't like that", and remotely restarting the node on a different VPN server while 24h banning that subnet. Phone connection completely over tor via termux.

But I'm drifting off. Here's where my conflicted feeling is coming from. I think there's a genuine hole that can be filled here, and that's what I started working on. something that surfaces, either by being shipped with or on top of an existing node, a lot of useful information for people buying and selling with Monero is valuable. for example, as a customer you can at a glance see if there's a tx backlog and what fee you need to set to get your tx in the next block. as a merchant you can quickly be notified of and watch any network irregularities your node picks up in real time and act accordingly, before you read about it on social media after the fact. It could potentially help with the learning curve for new people wanting to start their own node and understand what they're doing. Anything to help lower the barrier to entry. there's a lot more useful stuff that can be done here, but I'm deliberately trying (and failing) to keep this short.

I was initially planning on releasing an early version for testing within the next couple weeks, but as of now I'm reconsidering even releasing the project as it stands at all. If it is going to have any chance at actually being used, trust needs to be built. Just another AI slop project isn't going to do that. Frankly I did my best to ensure that I didn't introduce any security or privacy risks, but I would not be able to guarantee that without somebody else taking a look at it. and frankly, I don't trust Claude enough to bet other people's nodes on it. I really do believe in my vision for this project and am willing to put in whatever effort it takes to ensure that it has the quality it deserves, even if it means ditching everything I have here and learning to do it myself. That could take months to years, but in my mind it's worth it for what I would like to achieve.

That's where I'd like to get the opinion of you all before I make such a big dedication to a project like this. I can reliably understand what I'm doing from my own prior knowledge, why and how, what harms privacy and what doesn't. I can do my best to review the code as thoroughly as possible and have it peer reviewed before release if anyone is willing to help out with that. This software could get released within weeks and be genuinely useful for a lot of people, and be improved on decently quickly.

Alternatively, I could pump the brakes on this entire project and rebuild from scratch, accepting that it could be a long time before I can make a suitable release by my own hand that I feel comfortable with (even then, I'll still need help from others to review it)

How should I move forward here? I would hate to create something doomed to fail before it even started.

hello, so algeria is a third world country, ive looked into binance (for bitcoin) but i cant even buy other cryptocurrencies other than usdt, since i never bough a crypto before i have limited knowledge, can anyone guide me ?

Hello, community members!

I’m new to the crypto space, and as part of my college studies, I’m interested in learning more about Monero.

I’d appreciate it if you could share links to beginner-friendly articles and educational resources.

Also, who would you recommend following on Twitter (X) and YouTube?

Thank you!

The subreddit r/askMonero comes up a lot, and has a lot of subscribers. But take a look at their pinned posts and sidebar... it says "Compare Exchanges", but then it only shills for one exchange (which I have never heard of elsewhere). Every week there is a new post asking for a "no KYC" exchange, and the mods pin a post about their site, and delete any comments suggesting other alternatives. That's some shady shit.

People should stop recommending that sub for questions. r/MoneroSupport is far more legitimate.

before 2-3 months i was paying below 1 cents for transactions. why do i pay 2 cents?

A fascinating video on a run down of different hardware exploits and methods seen out there. Ledger as the primary focus, but also short examples of Trezor too.

Constant cat and mouse game between manufacturers and hackers.

Edit:
AI generated TLDR:

This video features Joe Grand, a renowned hardware hacker (but not the perpetrator), who details his process of reverse engineering a malicious hardware implant discovered inside a Ledger Nano X cryptocurrency wallet (0:32). The device was purchased by a user in Thailand who suspected tampering after noticing a non-standard battery (3:42).

Key findings and reverse engineering process:

• Discovery: The implant, hidden inside the device casing, was designed to steal recovery seeds without the owner's knowledge (4:13).
• Implant Functionality: The implant intercepts SPI signals between the wallet's secure element and its display to log the 26-character recovery seed (41:25). It then stores this data and transmits it wirelessly using an integrated cellular (LTE) modem and an ESIM (29:50, 36:40).
• Supply Chain Risk: The case highlights a sophisticated supply chain attack where legitimate devices are intercepted, modified, and resold on online marketplaces, bypassing traditional security measures (8:47).

Joe concludes by emphasizing the importance of purchasing hardware from authorized resellers and suggests that manufacturers are increasingly hardening devices against such physical intrusions (44:43).

Not AI, my personal addition:
That last statement about authorised re-sellers is now seemingly out of date. The are reportedly instances of a Ledger recommended authorised reseller (providing the Asian market) with these tampered devices further jeopardising trust in hardware wallets.

As a response Ledger now provide official pictures showing their dissasembeled devices for a customer to compare against such is the widespread nature and distrust with supply chains

Most XMR tools work but look like 2014. I'm building an installable web app to track XMR price, your wallet in view-only mode and network stats, with a design that does Monero justice.

Local-first, connect to your own node, no analytics, fully open source. Installs from the browser, so there's no app store gatekeeper.

I'm raising 1 XMR on Kuno to cover hosting, a public node and a security review: https://kuno.anne.media/fundraiser/vwxw/

Feedback on features you'd want is very welcome!

Hello!

I’m one of the authors of a paper just presented at AFT 2026, which I think would be interesting for this community.

StakeNote combines Ouroboros Praos (PoS) with CryptoNote’s ring signature privacy. In the paper, we prove it keeps the security of Praos and the privacy of CryptoNote, primarily focusing to hide who the block producers are and to keep performance realistic.

Not pitching a switch away from PoW, just curious what you think of the approach and its tradeoffs.

Paper: https://eprint.iacr.org/2026/1205

I've been in the Monero community for many years. Bought my first XMR when it was under $50, and I've held through all kinds of shit. I'm not trying to spread FUD, and I certainly don't want Monero to fail.

I also happen to work with AI and have been following the field closely since around 2017/2018. Both professionally and privately. And frankly, what's been happening over the last few weeks has me seriously reconsidering how much XMR I'm comfortable holding.

In case you missed it, OpenAI just released hundreds of papers claiming solutions or major progress on longstanding open mathematical problems. Some of these problems have been around for decades. Not all the proofs have been independently verified yet, obviously, but the sheer pace of progress is pretty insane.

And then there's something I find much more concerning.

Scott Aaronson recently wrote that, according to his sources, frontier AI companies have started quietly investigating whether their latest internal models can break important cryptographic protocols and primitives.

Source: https://scottaaronson.blog/?p=10169

Think about that for a second.

We have absolutely no visibility into what these companies are doing internally. How many parallel agents they're running, how much compute they're throwing at mathematical problems, or what results they might already have.

I'm aware that AI and quantum computing are different things. My concern also includes the possibility of AI discovering mathematical shortcuts that undermine elliptic-curve cryptography without needing a quantum computer.

Maybe this goes nowhere. Maybe ECC remains secure for decades. I genuinely hope so. But given how quickly AI capabilities are advancing, I don't feel particularly comfortable assuming that anymore.

And here's the thing that really bothers me as an XMR holder.

ECC wouldn't even need to be publicly broken for Monero to take a massive hit.

Imagine credible news breaking tomorrow that OpenAI, Anthropic, or another frontier lab has potentially found a way to compromise ECC.

Even before an independent audit, people would immediately start wondering whether governments, intelligence agencies, or anyone with access to these capabilities could trace historical transactions or compromise wallets.

Whether those assumptions were technically correct wouldn't necessarily matter to the market.

Privacy is Monero's entire selling point. I could easily see such news hitting XMR disproportionately hard, potentially much harder than BTC.

I know there are already discussions about post-quantum encryption and signatures in the Monero Research Lab. I've been looking into those as well. But I'm struggling to understand how far along we actually are and how quickly we could react if something unexpected happened.

How realistic is a migration to post-quantum cryptography? Could it be accelerated if there were suddenly a credible threat? What happens to historical transaction privacy? And is anyone seriously considering the possibility of AI-driven cryptographic breakthroughs arriving much earlier than expected?

These are genuine questions. I'm trying to understand the risk to assets I've held for years.

What frustrates me is how often these discussions immediately turn into accusations of FUD, or people just repeating that quantum computers are decades away. That doesn't really address the developments I'm concerned about.

I love Monero and what it stands for. I know everyone says this: Bla Bla I'm in it for the tech...Well i am.
That's why I've supported it for so long. But dismissing uncomfortable questions doesn't exactly inspire confidence either.

I'd really appreciate hearing from people who understand Monero's cryptography and current development roadmap, especially anyone directly involved in the research.

What am I missing here? Is there a realistic contingency plan if the cryptographic landscape changes much faster than we expect?

I'm genuinely open to being proven wrong. In fact, I'd much rather be wrong about this.

I was just permanently banned from r/Bitcoin for making a post which positively discusses developments in Monero in comparison to, from my view, worrying development in Bitcoin.

Only really calm, rational discussion and I got banned with the comment:

Enjoy your shitcoin elsewhere

What is going on in the Bitcoin community and why kind of ignorant ppl have taken over the lead of the biggest community of it?

I am following btc for almost 10 years now and I am shocked by the level of ignorance.

Time to focus on the better project, Monero, now I guess.

Shopinbit sends mails to customers about its data leak. It turns out: Shopinbit did NOT store the invoices offline, as they promised, but uploads them since October 2025 to the Polish e-invoicing system. This platform was hacked and customer data and invoices were copied and stolen. It was one of the biggest hacks in Poland.

Because of the offline promise I was relaxed with them. Now it shows itself that their "respect for privacy" and "invoices stored offline" was only a false advertising. Who bought with real name and address, please be attentive. Your data associated with spending Monero can now lie by one of the most active hacker groups in central Europe.
