Question 1 year later. Should I keep going?

Today marks exactly 1 year since I started applying minoxidil on my beard area on my face.

From the pictures, I do see progress on my face/beard, but I'm quite disappointed about it. I see people posting progress pictures on this sub with much fuller beard after 6 months. I had hoped my beard would be much fuller and denser after 1 year.

I am considering using a derma stamp. But I've read a lot of conflicting info about its actual efficacy and it seems hard to incorporate in my personal daily routine. I don't think I could be consistent with micro-needling because of my lifestyle...

Am I being unrealistic with my expectations and impatient? Should I keep going? What do you think about this progress after 1 year?

Details:

  • I'm currently 33 years old, started at 32
  • I'm using minoxidil 5%, liquid solution, from Bailleul Laboratoires (Europe)
  • I apply 2 x 1ml of minoxidil per day and I wait 12 hours between each application (10AM & 10PM)
  • I have noticed increased hair growth all over my body, especially eyebrows, eyelashes, nose, forearms and hands have gotten a lot hairier
  • No derma stamp, no derma roll
  • No tretinoin
  • No bad side effects, but I do experience dry skin and white flakes on my skin where I apply minoxidil
  • Never missed a single day
  • Blood work is good

Thanks in advance :)

I know the lengths aren’t the same at all, but I believe the difference is extremely obvious either way.

Firsr 2 photos is when I started on 5.4.26 and the last 2 pics are from today 24.10.26y I use minox pretty consistently 2x a day + a dermaroller, but I should use the dermaroller more often. I am not so consistent with it. Maybe results would be better.

As you can see I still struggle to close the gap on picture 3. It takes time.

Anyone ever try reedle shot and minoxidil together?

Hey everyone so i’ve been using reedle shot in my skincare routine for awhile and was curious if anyone had used minoxidil together with this? It’s mainly used in order to have the first product in your routine to deeper into your skin and was wondering if it would beneficial to use with minoxidil. Haven’t seen much on this topic for the face. Thanks in advance!

My dandruff has been crazy the past week which isn’t normal for me. I’ve been on minox about 3 weeks now but haven’t applied any to my scalp. Appreciate any insight!

Redness

Under my bottom lip started turning red after 3 days of use is that normal or do you think it’s a good idea to stop? I was putting 5% Rogain on my face in reality I don’t care for a beard I want the corners of my moustache to have more hair to try the hogan stache lol should I just apply it to my upper lip? Should I stop? Idk what to do ChatGPT told me to stop so I did for a day so far.

I had like 50 beard hairs and pretended I didn't care. Anyone else been there?

When my first beard hairs showed up, I was so hyped. I thought in a few months I'd have a real beard and look more mature.
Spoiler: nope.
I waited a year. Then two. After two years, almost nothing had changed. My few hairs just got longer. But I didn't need my 50 hairs to grow another inch, I needed the patches to fill in. Honestly, even a full goatee would've been enough.
At work, with friends, sometimes even with family, there were always jokes about my beard. I laughed along with everyone, but deep down it got to me. And whenever someone asked if it bothered me, I'd say the same thing every time: "Nah, I don't care. If I shave it all off, it'll grow back fuller."
Obviously that wasn't true. I shaved it all, it grew back exactly the same, just more noticeable. And I was stuck in that loop for a long time: let it grow, see the patches, think it looked messy, shave it all off. Repeat.
All of this made me want to work on a serum for patchy beards. To be upfront: it's still in development, I'm not selling anything right now. If you're interested, you can drop your email here to get notified when it launches: https://forms.gle/LpoUK7FXkYDGjCfe7

But mostly I'm curious: where are you at with your beard? Have you tried anything that actually worked, or nothing at all?
