Question 1 year later. Should I keep going?
Today marks exactly 1 year since I started applying minoxidil on my beard area on my face.
From the pictures, I do see progress on my face/beard, but I'm quite disappointed about it. I see people posting progress pictures on this sub with much fuller beard after 6 months. I had hoped my beard would be much fuller and denser after 1 year.
I am considering using a derma stamp. But I've read a lot of conflicting info about its actual efficacy and it seems hard to incorporate in my personal daily routine. I don't think I could be consistent with micro-needling because of my lifestyle...
Am I being unrealistic with my expectations and impatient? Should I keep going? What do you think about this progress after 1 year?
Details:
- I'm currently 33 years old, started at 32
- I'm using minoxidil 5%, liquid solution, from Bailleul Laboratoires (Europe)
- I apply 2 x 1ml of minoxidil per day and I wait 12 hours between each application (10AM & 10PM)
- I have noticed increased hair growth all over my body, especially eyebrows, eyelashes, nose, forearms and hands have gotten a lot hairier
- No derma stamp, no derma roll
- No tretinoin
- No bad side effects, but I do experience dry skin and white flakes on my skin where I apply minoxidil
- Never missed a single day
- Blood work is good
Thanks in advance :)

Journey Update My Minox Journey 7 Months in
Firsr 2 photos is when I started on 5.4.26 and the last 2 pics are from today 24.10.26y I use minox pretty consistently 2x a day + a dermaroller, but I should use the dermaroller more often. I am not so consistent with it. Maybe results would be better.
As you can see I still struggle to close the gap on picture 3. It takes time.

Reccomendations for minoxidil for beard growth?
Will any minoxidil do? I will be buying from amazon. Will Regaine work eventho its for head hair? Foam? 5%? Any information will be useful. Thank you!

Journey Update 6 weeks, tremendous progress :))
I know the lengths aren’t the same at all, but I believe the difference is extremely obvious either way.

Anyone ever try reedle shot and minoxidil together?
Hey everyone so i’ve been using reedle shot in my skincare routine for awhile and was curious if anyone had used minoxidil together with this? It’s mainly used in order to have the first product in your routine to deeper into your skin and was wondering if it would beneficial to use with minoxidil. Haven’t seen much on this topic for the face. Thanks in advance!

Thinking about giving up..
Im 28 yrs old, and I started to use Minoxidil 16 months ago, started with Rogaine foam (Regaine) 5% and now 4 months ago switched to Regaxidil solution 50mg/ml. I have a goatee and moustache long ago, but i only had like 5 darker little hairs on my cheeks, and after like 3 months i had lets say 30-50, but it stopped there, and in the beginning i took photos to see the progress, but at one point i almost gave up and deleted them, but i didnt stop using Minoxidil afterall. So i dont have any before photos, sorry. Now im at this stage (photos), and i dont know if i should buy again. Do you think its worth using still, or if i didnt get better results in 16 months then its okay to give up? Thanks for your answers!

Journey Update 3 month update before/after
I’m personally just blown away by the amount of progress. I initially thought it wouldn’t work, but the results speak for themselves. Would you say I’m responding really well or just moderate? And how long should I continue before I can grow a full beard that doesn’t look like shit?
I’ve been using the secret sauce 5% (1 ml) topically twice a day for about 3 months—almost every day, though I sometimes forget or don’t have time before work. I also derma roll once a week or whenever I feel like it. I’m never looking back. I’ll probably give another progress update at the 6-month mark.

11 months of minox, 6 months of growth
M31, started minox in November last year, did not have much hope. But now it's 6 months since the last shave and very happy with the progress. Still have to go to have it shaped for the first time. Routine now is just topical minox twice a day, previously also dermaroll few times a week before the beard got longer, now it's not much effective. Right cheek still has some filling up to do

Question Can foam 5% application twice daily lead to dry scalp?
My dandruff has been crazy the past week which isn’t normal for me. I’ve been on minox about 3 weeks now but haven’t applied any to my scalp. Appreciate any insight!

Redness
Under my bottom lip started turning red after 3 days of use is that normal or do you think it’s a good idea to stop? I was putting 5% Rogain on my face in reality I don’t care for a beard I want the corners of my moustache to have more hair to try the hogan stache lol should I just apply it to my upper lip? Should I stop? Idk what to do ChatGPT told me to stop so I did for a day so far.

I had like 50 beard hairs and pretended I didn't care. Anyone else been there?
When my first beard hairs showed up, I was so hyped. I thought in a few months I'd have a real beard and look more mature.
Spoiler: nope.
I waited a year. Then two. After two years, almost nothing had changed. My few hairs just got longer. But I didn't need my 50 hairs to grow another inch, I needed the patches to fill in. Honestly, even a full goatee would've been enough.
At work, with friends, sometimes even with family, there were always jokes about my beard. I laughed along with everyone, but deep down it got to me. And whenever someone asked if it bothered me, I'd say the same thing every time: "Nah, I don't care. If I shave it all off, it'll grow back fuller."
Obviously that wasn't true. I shaved it all, it grew back exactly the same, just more noticeable. And I was stuck in that loop for a long time: let it grow, see the patches, think it looked messy, shave it all off. Repeat.
All of this made me want to work on a serum for patchy beards. To be upfront: it's still in development, I'm not selling anything right now. If you're interested, you can drop your email here to get notified when it launches: https://forms.gle/LpoUK7FXkYDGjCfe7
But mostly I'm curious: where are you at with your beard? Have you tried anything that actually worked, or nothing at all?

15 months on minoxidil disappointed with my progress. Is there still hope?
I’ve been using minoxidil for a little over a year now, and I’m honestly pretty disappointed with my results.
When I started, I had very little facial hair. I’ve definitely noticed quite a few new hairs developing across my cheeks and jawline, but most of them are still thin and wispy.
I was hoping that by this point I’d at least have a patchy beard rather than scattered individual hairs.
I’m 25 years old, so I know there’s still potential for natural beard development over the next 5 years.
For those who experienced similar results after their first year:
- Did you see significant improvements during your second year?
- Did your thinner hairs eventually become thicker and more terminal?
- At what point did your beard start looking noticeably fuller?
I’ve attached before-and-after pictures for comparison.
I’ve also been doing 5% foam nearly every day twice a day.
I’m interested in hearing from people who had similarly slow progress.

3 months update, already terminal?
Previous post: https://www.reddit.com/r/Minoxbeards/comments/1wnfoer/before_and_after_east_asian_2_months_minoxidil/
I'm pretty happy with the results so far. I've noticed that most of my hair are already turning terminal for the last time I shaved I could notice some dark spots on my cheeks and jawline area.
Would I be a hyper responder or ir there more to come?
This is about 4 days of growth

1 Year, (Almost) 3 Months.
Just turned 20 at the end of July. Started Minoxidil August 24th, 2025. I think I’m hyperreactive.
