Hi everyone,
I'm looking for some help diagnosing an AOOSTAR GOD88 Mini PC with an AMD Ryzen 7 8845HS processor.
The computer was working perfectly fine before suddenly shutting off while essentially idle, with only my browser open.
Since then, it has been completely unable to power on.
Symptoms:
- Pressing the power button causes the power LED to flash for a fraction of a second.
- The cooling fan barely twitches before stopping.
- No display, POST, BIOS, or sustained power.
- The behaviour repeats when attempting to start it.
What I've tested:
- Disconnected all peripherals and left the computer unplugged.
- Performed a power reset by holding the power button while disconnected.
- Tried starting it with only the power adapter connected.
- Took it to Matrix Warehouse, where they tested another 20V/4.5A (90W) adapter. The exact same thing happened.
- Opened the computer and visually inspected the motherboard. No obvious burnt components or visible damage.
Original power adapter:
- Huntkey HKA100250-OA6
- 20V DC, 5A, 100W
- USB-C connector
One complication is that the original adapter only lists a 20V output, and I'm unsure whether the GOD88 uses standard USB-C PD negotiation or a fixed-voltage USB-C power arrangement. I haven't confirmed that the alternative adapter was electrically equivalent.
I have contacted AOOSTAR support many times but haven't received a response.
Questions for anyone experienced with mini PC or motherboard repairs:
- Does this symptom suggest a shorted input MOSFET, capacitor, VRM component, or another power-delivery fault?
- Has anyone encountered this specific failure on an AOOSTAR GOD88 or another AOOSTAR mini PC?
- What would be the logical diagnostic sequence for a technician with a multimeter and bench power supply?
- Are there known problems with the GOD88's power input circuitry?
- Is board-level repair realistic, or would motherboard replacement be more economical?
- Does anyone know whether this model requires a fixed 20V USB-C adapter or supports standard USB-C PD?
I'm based in South Africa, so sending the entire unit overseas for repair would be expensive. Ideally, I'd like to identify the failed component and have it repaired locally.
Any guidance, schematics, repair experiences, or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
