READ THIS Important Info (read before posting)
I know you're here to get quick help with your command problems or to show off your cool work. Please read these few lines to get to know how to use this subreddit optimally:
Asking for help
- FAQ? Before you post, please check out the common questions (including answers) that we have as a subreddit. These consist of the most common problems, and maybe your problem is already covered there in detail?
- Titles: Please put a summary/short version of your problem into the title of your post, don't just put "I need help" or "help me plz". Instead put for example "how do I summon a zombie" or "unable to summon entity error" and then provide more context on the post itself. This subreddit often shows up on google when people search for command related questions and we should really help them find the questions you might already have asked. Also, we likely know that you need help anyways, no need to put it in the title.
- Flairs: We have a wide array of flairs that you should attach to your post to make sure people know what the purpose of your thread is. It is especially important if you're asking for help, to flair your post with the appropriate minecraft version (for those who don't know: OG Minecraft is
JavaVersion, everything else that has commands (Xbox, PE, PS4, Switch, Win10, etc) isBedrock). - Version: Whether you're helping or asking for help, please pay attention to the stated version/state the version you're in! You can do that through the previously mentioned Flairs, but also in addition can put it into the description of your post.
- Search/Scroll down: I know that reddit search is not the best one out there, but maybe someone else had a similar problem to yours in recent history. Try going to the new tab and scrolling down a bit or using the reddit search function to see if there might already be an answer to a question you have. We're not going to close your thread for asking the same question someone else asked a year ago, we're not StackOverflow. But please at least take 30 seconds to look for it first.
- Upvote: If you find an answer to a post helpful, please upvote it. This is less as a "reward" for the answering person but more as a way to automatically move the best answer to the top, for others that might have the same problem. Don't downvote an answer just because their attempts didn't work for you unless it's completely wrong or off topic / doesn't add anything to the conversation.
Creations
Posting about your own creations is very much encouraged, but please remember the 10:1 guidelines of reddit.

Help | Java 26.2 How can i detect a specific splash potion thrown by the player (part 2, advancement edition)
I asked a similar question a while ago, but I decided to start a new one because the focus is different.
I’ve been working on an infinite splash potion, the problem is that detecting it solely through commands doesn't seem very efficient for me. I tried using advancements, but I realized that neither `using_item` nor `consume_item` work as triggers for splash potions. Do you know of any trigger that actually works, or any way to make it work using advancements?
Thanks a lot! Here is the code I am currently using. The function 100% works, the problem is with the advancement. I also included a photo showing which folder I have the advancement in, but i already confirmed that the game does detect it. Ignore the name of the datapack, it’s 100% just a placeholder from an old idea xD

Help | Java 26.3 Question between 26.2 and 26.3 & potion predicate issue
For some context I use a lot of potion effects to target the player/entity to get a sort of effect. I've been working on a map, but a lot of items have broken. An example command is
"execute as -e at -s if predicate {"condition":"minecraft:entity_properties","entity":"this","predicate":{"effects":{"minecraft:resistance":{"amplifier":10}}}} run particle minecraft:soul_fire_flame ~ ~1 ~ 0.5 0.5 0.5 0.1 1 normal"
But in the latest version, it seems like you can't target these effects anymore on an entity? I'm unsure of what changed or how to fix this, and I honestly feel like giving up because it broke a lot LOT of commands on the map :/
So, I wanted to ask if anyone knows a possible workaround, or what exactly changed/went wrong? I've checked around but for the life of me cannot find anything.
Any insight whatsoever is greatly appreciated, you all have been super helpful before and anything, even a nugget of info, is helpful

Help | Java 1.20 I need help making a datapack for a horror modpack
Sorry if the tag thing is wrong, I don't really understand Reddit... I am working on this kind of modpack for 1.20.1 and wanted to make the Knocker kind of have a DBD Legion vibe because I feel that the knocker works best with others, I don't know how to make a datapack but I know I want the knocker to have like 3 other ways of working, So there would be the OG knocker ai, then I wanted to add a trickster, baiter and attacker, the trickster is there to make you interact with the rest more and also is just there to mess with the player harmlessly, the attacker will hide more, make less noise and attack whenever given the chance, and the baiter is meant to get the player outside so the knocker unity can attack, I want to be able to put this in a modpack for my friends so it would be amazing if there was a way to make it so I don't have to load the datapack every time, I'm not sure if what I want is even possible, and I have other plans for other mods, but I really wanted this to get working if anyone is interested in helping!

Help | Java 26.2 Proximity sensor that sends a message only when a player enters the radius
I am trying to get a command block proximity sensor, which specifically sends a message once, when it detects a player entering the area. I also need it to work repeatedly ideally, so I don't need to keep replacing a redstone block during testing.
In short a command, with which a command block only actives a command once, when a player enters the radius.
The execute commands I've tried and worked that I saw online seem to rely on the always active an repeat commands, with the issue it keeps repeating the message constantly when in the radius.

Help | Bedrock Trying to get my items deleted upon death
Hello, me and my friends want a server where when you die all your inventory gets wiped because it's a perfect bridge between survival and hardcore, there are real stakes but you can still play your world if you die. We're playing on bedrock. Can anyone please guide me through how exactly to set it up so it'll work? I can't manage to figure it out myself. Thank you very much y'all

Help | Java 1.21.11 Help with making a thick fog effect that I can turn on and off
I am coding an update to a datapack that I made that has survival-horror themes. Since I've not really been focusing on the horror elements, I want to add a thick fog effect to the game. I found out how to do that with timelines, but I don't know how to turn the effect on and off. I want to be able to turn it on and off with commands so that it doesn't need to be linked to a specific time, but I don't think that I can. I was wondering if anyone could help me figure it out.
I am coding my datapack in 1.21.11, but if there is a way to do it in newer versions I might want to update it. I also can't find much information on timelines in general, so information on them would be welcome (I know the gist of them, just not everything).
I am also open to just leaving the fog effect on permanently, but I'm worried that people might find it annoying, so opinions on a permanent thick fog would be useful too.
TL;DR: I want a way to add a thick fog effect to the game with a way to easily turn it on and off in my datapack.

Help | Bedrock I need help with the playsound commands and a “record” or disc playsound.
I’m trying to play a music disc with its playsound command (/playsound record.mellohi @a 137 62 810) and I also tried (/execute as @a at @s run playsound record.mellohi @a ~ ~ ~) but you can’t hear the music if you’re out of the range of the volume of the sound.
I was curious if there is any way to make these disc sounds follow the player?

Help | Bedrock What went wrong with this command?
I was filling in a large area and attempted to use a command to make it go by quicker. The command was:
/execute as (username) at @s run fill ~20 ~20 -64 ~-20 -64 ~-20 grass replace air
which in theory should have filled the air blocks underneath my character at y-level -64 with grass, but instead the photo happened... what went wrong? is there a different command i can use?

Help | Java 26.3 What’s currently the best way to create custom mobs?
I’m looking to create custom mobs using a data pack, and I’m wondering what the most reliable and effective approach is right now.
I don’t mean mobs that can only move around within a predefined area or on a specific field. I want something that can navigate complex terrain naturally, just like vanilla mobs do.
What’s currently the best way to achieve this?
