This is a community service from me since I feel like the wider Retro Rewind community is pretty unaware with the issues surrounding the mod and it's creators. It's no secret that several CT creators have requested their tracks be pulled from the mod and I want to help set the record straight as to why, especially considering recent events where one of those removal requests was rejected and instead they added more tracks from that author out of spite.

I've linked a document made by a fellow CT creator that summarises the issues people have with the mod, I think it's a highly important read.

I'm not saying anyone here should stop playing immediately and it's immoral or anything, but I do genuinely think it's important to share so people are aware of our perspective. I'm happy to answer any questions people ask in the comments.

Has anyone ever noticed that in the sherbert land song at 2:05, instead of the 4 beats there is just 3, as if it is missing a beat. It sounds like a glitch since the 3rd beat abruptly cuts off when the 4th (missing) beat would have played. Was this intentional?

Best time of a self taught reinforcement learning AI that learnt to drive on rainbow road without human guidance. It beats previous times by other YouTube or reddit creators by some seconds.

The run is not close to perfection, self taught means there was no supervision in mushroom use or cut discovery.

Although dedicated work is ongoing to determine whether AI can discover the little cut before the cannon, the line is very unnatural and risky for the current AI setup and will most likely never emerge. Change in the code or discovery oriented strategies may lead to better times.

I made a texture hack of Bowser Castle 3 that makes it jolly af!!

The skybox, planets and other objects have all been ported from Super Mario Galaxy 1.

The shading and materials arent exactly on par though and since Mario Kart Wii does not support the same projection mapping that the galaxy games use, I had to find a way to recreate the effect of the bottom half of the skybox (just ended up covering it with a big fog plane).

I'm extremely happy with how this turned out, I've learned a lot about track editing since last year so I hope I'll be able to make an actual functioning CT someday ^^

So I have recently heard of the Mario Kart Wiicompiled project which sounds really cool and how it was ported to the 3ds and the vita, but is there a way to play it on the r36s? Or is it possible for someone to make it?

How can i fix it?

After trying out both versions for a while, I’ve noticed a few interesting things "even though they’re technically the same." The PS Vita version has some stuttering during races, though the problem goes away the more you play. Unlike the 3DS version, the PS Vita version doesn’t have a timer—I think this is because the 3DS version had it at the bottom of the screen, and here they forgot to implement it on the Vita’s top screen. Also, the Vita version has shorter load times, but it still doesn’t consistently hit 30 fps. “Although they’ll add support for 60 fps in the future.” Otherwise, it’s faithful to the 3DS version, with the only advantage being that the Vita version doesn’t crash. P.S.: Sorry about the ugly photo xd—it turned out funny, so I decided to leave it that way.

Chain drifting kinda confuses me. I've seen multiple videos saying you need to wheelie while drifting, but I use a gcn controller and the clawed grip method just doesn't work well at all. Then I read on a wiki that you don't need to wheelie. does it still count as a chain drift even if I don't wheelie in between mini turbos?

I been noticing this since I had modded my Wii. I had got it from my actual copy of the game. And for some odd reason it’s freeze whenever I play Wario Gold Mine course, even the music stop playing after the first lap. Is there a fix to this? Cuz this is really annoying and I just want to play the game in peace.

Cuz I use it for chain wheelies with UP presses at 10 ms intervals. Should I be banned?

Not trying to brag, but I've been absolutely dominating the new 175cc mode in Retro Rewind.

I think my biggest advantage is that I've spent years practicing high-speed driving through narrow, winding residential neighborhoods, usually right around 3 PM when I would do my Doordashing gigs back in San Jose.

All those tight corners, unpredictable obstacles, and split-second reactions have really sharpened my driving skills. Honestly, 175cc feels almost leisurely compared to what I'm used to.

I have homebrew, the physical Mario kart disc, and everything installed, but when I open retro rewind it says it can’t find an sd card and restarts my Wii. Is there anything I can do to play it or do I need to get and sd card.
