Welcome to /r/Lumix! Please read before posting.
Welcome to /r/Lumix, the place for every Panasonic enjoyer.
Please have a look at the sidebar (desktop) or the "About" section (mobile web) or "See more" under the subreddit description (mobile application). Or just use this wiki page, which is identical.
This contains many resource and a few basic rules and guidelines. To highlight some things, please keep in mind:
Absolutely no affiliate links on /r/Lumix as these tend to result in a swift ban. For this reason, shortened URLs, or pointlessly long links that could hide affiliate tags in them (see link guidelines for details) are also not allowed. Be wary of "share" features on Amazon, etc. - they shorten your URLs! These can hide affiliate tags without you knowing. Please do not sell anything in /r/lumix either (LUTs, gear, and so on). This is a community subreddit, not a place for business.
Make post titles as if there was no post body. They should give all context whilst being short (i.e. not a whole paragraph), effective. In other words, include the relevant camera/lens in the post title whenever possible and use descriptive titles - meaning all the context should be in the post title (see title guidelines for details). For example - asking about lens options? The title should mention what do you intend to shoot then (as well as what you shot with in case of original content). Photo/video/hybrid? Weddings, documentary, landscape, wildlife, etc. If your post's title is for example only "S5ii vs G9ii" as opposed to "S5ii or G9ii for landscape photography", it'll probably get removed and you'll be asked to repost with a better title.
The latter may sound like a pointless nuisance, but it requires minuscule effort and everyone gets better experience when it comes to reading, searching, and archiving the subreddit. Keep in mind that your posts are not only for you, but also for everyone who might have the same problem/question.
Please do keep in mind this post doesn't cover all of the rules, few as they are. For the full rules, please see them in the usual places or visit this wiki article.
If your post gets "removed by Reddit filters", it means that moderators need to manually approve it. Making repeated attempts probably only makes your accounts karma worse, so please be patient and wait for a moderator to approve it. This isn't our job, so it can take anything from seconds to hours.
If you are interested, feel free to join hundreds of other Lumix creators at the official LUMIX Creators Club Discord server.
Your friendly janitors thank you!

LUTs / colouring Panasonic V-Log Has Been My Favorite Colors to Work With. Shot on Lumix S5iix + Sigma 24-70mm Mark 1
Recent stills from an interview shoot.
Shot on the Lumix S5iix. Coming from Sony, and I much prefer the colors coming out of the Lumix. What is everyone’s experiences with the colors on their Lumix cameras?

L-Mount Why Am I Not Getting Sharp Images Above 400mm with Lumix S 100-500mm Telephoto Lens?
Lumix 100-500mm lens is blurry at 500mm when focusing on distant subjects — anyone else experiencing this?
I'm having a problem with my Lumix 100-500mm lens, and I'd like to hear from other users to see if this is normal or if I might have a defective copy.
The lens works great up to around 400mm. However, once I go beyond 400mm, image sharpness seems to drop significantly, especially when focusing on distant subjects.
Here's what I've noticed:
- Up to 400mm: Images are sharp, and the lens performs very well.
- At 500mm, focusing on nearby subjects: Images look good.
- At 500mm, focusing on distant subjects: Images are noticeably blurry, to the point where I don't think they're usable.
I've taken around 15 thousand photos using both the Lumix S5II and S1II, and I'm experiencing the same issue with both cameras.
I also tried the Sigma 150-600mm, but I wasn't happy with it. The autofocus felt very slow, and I couldn't get the sharpness I wanted, even wide open or stopped down to f/11.
One thing I really like about the Lumix lens is its very fast autofocus, but the image quality beyond 400mm is disappointing, especially for distant subjects.

I've attached two photos of the same type of subject (an airplane): one taken at 402mm and the other at 500mm, so you can compare the sharpness.
My questions:
- Is this kind of sharpness drop above 400mm is normal for this lens?
- Could this be a lens issue, or am I missing something ?
- Has anyone found a good telephoto lens alternative that delivers sharp images above 400mm with reliable, fast autofocus and is not a tank?
I'd appreciate any advice or recommendations. Thanks!

Micro Four Thirds Color grading on G85 Cinelike D

General / Discussion S1Rii vs S1ii for Food Content
I've been going back and forth between these two beauties and would love some help from the community.
The use is 70/30 video/photo for professional food content. Social media, website, photo printing, and then lastly some personal family videos with my dog and newborn. One the one hand, most reviews I see on YouTube heavily lean towards the S1Rii because of the extra detail in 8K video and color rendering and higher megapixels for photos. I really want that world class sharpness and plan on getting both the 50mm 1.4 and Sigma 85mm lenses. On the other hand, most comments on Reddit highly prefer the S1ii if the use is mostly video.
If you've used both, which is the better option?

Micro Four Thirds GH7 for still
I got the impression that when GH7 was released, it had close to all the still features as G9II. Is this true? What would I miss? I shoot stills, and rarely videos, but my G9II overheated a few days ago recording S&Q 120. I would like to get into videos more, but stills are still a high priority. Thanks.

L-Mount First camera purchase - Panasonic S5IIX + 24–60mm f/2.8. Excellent Photo vs Downtown Camera?
Hey everyone!
I’m planning to buy my first proper camera and have pretty much settled on the **Panasonic Lumix S5IIX with the 24–60mm f/2.8 lens**.
I want to use it for a mix of photography, YouTube, filmmaking, music videos, vlogging, and general content creation, so I’m looking for something I can grow into over the next few years.
My problem is that I haven’t been able to find this exact camera-and-lens bundle locally. Panasonic’s Canadian eStore has it, but they’re asking for a one-time credit card payment, and I’d prefer to finance the purchase through monthly payments if possible.
So far, I’ve found the bundle available through **Excellent Photo** and **Downtown Camera**, but since I live in Calgary, either purchase would be online.
I’d really appreciate some advice from people who have bought from either retailer:
- Which store would you trust more for a purchase this expensive?
- How have your experiences been with shipping, customer service, returns, and warranty support?
- Are there any issues I should know about when ordering camera gear online from either store?
- Do either of them offer reliable financing options, or is there another Canadian retailer I should look at?
- Would you personally buy from one of these stores, or just pay upfront through Panasonic’s eStore?
This is my first camera purchase, so I’m probably overthinking things a little. I just want to make sure I’m buying from a reputable retailer and not missing a better option.
I’m open to other suggestions, too, as long as I can get the S5IIX with the 24–60mm f/2.8 lens and ideally have a financing option.
Thanks in advance! I’d appreciate any advice from people who have purchased from these retailers, especially those ordering from outside Ontario.

General / Discussion For the LUMIX Flow users, there’s a way to simultaneously use your phone as a wired monitor while also charging it — tested on my LUMIX S9 and iPhone 17 pro
This splitter allows your phone to charge while connected as a wired monitor. It’s perfect if you have a Vmount / NPF battery setup. Happy shooting!

General / Discussion Custom firmwares for braw internally?
hey, I'm not an expert with all the ai stuff going on and not sure what's going on at all really.
But since there have been custom firmwares or programs with reverse engineering in general (not seen it for cameras though), wouldn't it be totally possible to bring blackmagic raw to lumix cameras, but internally?
for example the S1iie has the same sensor as a blackmagic cinema camera 6k (which can do internal braw in all flavors) and can already do internal prores raw.
Not sure if the custom firmware thing is far enough for that but this just popped to mind.
cheers :)

General / Discussion Where is the S5II human+animal autofocus option?
I just purchased a Lumix S5 II from a canon 6D MK II. I'm on the firmware version 3.6. I was told there was an autofocus mode for Human+Animal but that option is not listed for me. I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on where that might be if that's still an option

L-Mount S1II Sensor Cleaning Technique
Is it something I just have to live with and hope to only use my aperture wide open instead of tight? Or best to get it cleaned? Side note, I’ve already used the rocket blower & sensor cleaning in settings. Any advice nuggets are greatly appreciated.

General / Discussion What codecs for lumix cameras do you find the best for editing and storage?
I will be buying a S1ii or S1iiE for a documentary series. What codecs do you find the best for color grading, storage, and editing/scrubbing on premiere. I’m coming from Blackmagic braw 12:1 and the amount I’ve had to pay for storage is insane and I’m tired of it. LUMIX seems to have some pretty large files compared to Sony but I’m curious what it’s like editing with their different codecs and the storage seems closer to Blackmagic Braw then Sony XAVC. Thoughts and experiences with lumix cameras codecs?
