WAN Show Google finally did it, they killed YouTube.
I really want for Linus and crew to talk about this on WAN. YouTube is doing one of their tests on my account they completely took away my Subscription feed and in its place they put in an AI prompter to basically build my own Feed. The only way to get around it is to have a link to subscription feed. Oddly enough Google’s search AI gave me that link. So it’s not completely gone but it is completely inaccessible within the app.
I think I am just going to move on to Nebula and Floatplane. I have Premium because I used to get those 2-3 hour Prager U ads and the moment I unsubbed after 2 years and YouTube started serving me those Prager U ads again. Now I figure since I’m already paying for content I may as well use a paid service that already has most of the people I watch anyways and isn’t actively trying to eat itself.
If you need any photos and such let me know. I’d be happy to test this out for you. I have complained about it to the app. I doubt they will care about what I have to say but they I hope we can cause an outrage against this.
UPDATE: YouTube readded the subscriptions tab at the bottom after taking that away like a week or so back. The heck is going on here?

Meme/Shitpost WAN Show intro, but every frame is a QR code
People asked yesterday if it would be possible to do the same for the WAN Show intro, so I gave it my best.
It's now in color, a bit smoother, and with less artifacts. All of the frames are valid QR codes, but native reader might struggle with some.

Discussion The LTT Sweatpants are GOATED
I've daily driven 5 pairs for about 4-5 years during fall/winter/spring doing warehouse work, specifically the WAN and Short Circuit versions they used to sell. What is most impressive is just how durable and long lasting they have been. They are still just as good as the day I bought them and I imagine they will continue to last. Extremely comfortable too. These might look expensive at first glance, but they pay for themselves with how they hold up. GET THEM.

WAN Show Auto tech startup claims it traced hack attempt back to Comma.ai's IP address
theregister.comThis is a bit of a smaller story, but it might be worth looking into for the WAN show or something. Linus has already done a few Comma videos lately, and Comma themselves have already been under scrutiny for their NHTSA investigation.

Tech Discussion really bad 1% lows/out of ideas
CPU: Intel Core i9 14900K (Only ~4 months old)
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 Super (MSI 16GB)
Motherboard: ASUS ROG Strix Z790 E Gaming WiFi II
RAM: 32GB (2x16GB) DDR5 7200 MHz Storage: 2x 2TB Crucial P3 NVMe SSDs
OS: Windows 11 64 bit
What is happening
I have been using this exact setup for about 2 years now with zero issues (CPU was replaced about 4 months ago). I didn't change any settings, tweak anything new, or do anything different. The problem first occurred a little over a month ago when I hosted an Aternos Minecraft server for my friends and me. I started getting way lower average FPS and really bad 1% low frame time spikes / micro stutters in literally every game I play.
What makes zero sense to me is that benchmark scores look totally fine. 3DMark Time Spy gave me a 27,776 total score (28,766 GPU / 23,244 CPU) with totally normal temps. But as soon as I actually load into a game, it feels laggy, stuttery, and unresponsive.
Everything I have already tried
Updated BIOS to the absolute latest version with the microcode fixes. Locked Intel Baseline power limits to 253W (PL1 and PL2). Before this, I didn't have power limits enforced, but the CPU is only about 4 months old and has run on updated BIOS/microcode. CPU clocks sit steady at 5.3 to 5.7 GHz and temps stay under 75°C under load, while GPU sits under 61°C, so thermals and power throttling are not the problem. Turned off CPU C States.Forced the primary GPU PCIe slot to Gen 4. Tested RAM extensively. Tried XMP at 7200 MHz, lowered it to 6000 and 6400 MHz, ran stock 5600 MHz without XMP, and switched between XMP I and XMP II. Ran MemTest and got zero errors.
Did a clean DDU wipe in Safe Mode. Tested current NVIDIA drivers and also rolled back to known stable ones like 566.36. Uninstalled and reinstalled CPU drivers, Intel Management Engine (ME), and IO drivers. Did a Windows reset / reinstall while keeping my personal files and apps. Disabled Core Isolation / Memory Integrity (HVCI) and VBS. Disabled HAGS, Windows Game Bar, and Game Mode. Switched Windows Power Plan to High Performance.
Set NVIDIA Control Panel power management to "Prefer maximum performance". Cleared the DirectX shader cache (DXCache) folder and gave it more size headroom. Closed almost all background apps. Only Discord, my browser, Spotify, and the game are open, which is identical to how I ran things before the issue started..
There might be more things I have tried that I just don’t remember.
Concrete Example (Overwatch)
I play capped at 300 FPS on medium-to-high settings. Even in the Practice Range, I get bad 1% low drops, and in actual matches, it's way worse. My frame rate won't stay locked at 300 FPS, and my 1% lows constantly plunge down to 180–140 FPS, spiking down to 110 FPS when it gets really bad.
I am at a complete loss. I don't think it's the known 14th gen CPU degradation issue given the age of the chip and microcode state, plus benchmark scores remain high.

Image Video idea
I went to go get a haircut on Monday and I saw they had this "modern" barber pole and my first thought was "that would make a cool pc case" only cause the black spinning part looks like those cases with the screen in the side panel.
Or maybe it would make for a cool massive water cooling reservoir for some theme build.
Video title "barber shop quadro" or something

Image Super Soft Hoodie Aglets
Hey everyone!
I bought a Super Soft Hoodie, probably close to a year ago now, and after much use and several washes I have finally killed both of my aglets!
I reached out to support when the washer ate the first one, and basically got told there’s nothing they will do because the damage was caused by the washing machine. Now that I’ve lost both to washing, any suggestions on an easy fix?
Thanks!

Video 64 gamers 1 BeamNG.drive?
BeamNG.drive recently released version 0.40, which has brought official support for local split screen on PC, with no limit on how many split screens are possible. I was reminded of the 7 Gamers 1 CPU video and thought it would make a great LTT video to see as many playable split screens as possible on a large screen. Whale LAN would make a great place to do it!

Discussion Connected to Wi-Fi but no internet on two devices, while all my devices work fine. Could the router be blocking them?
My friend's neighbour allows us to connect to their Wi-Fi. The problem is that my friend's phone and Windows PC connect to the network, but neither device has internet access. However, my devices work perfectly fine on the exact same Wi-Fi network.
I'm wondering whether the router might have restricted my friend's devices, but I haven't confirmed that yet.

Discussion I’m Confused, But Happy - Huawei FreeBuds Pro 5
I've had these for about 3 months now and really like them, especially for hard rock and metal. I could swear my mic sounds better than the sample in this video, though. I use mine with my Samsung S24+ for media and phonecalls, as well as my Windows 11 laptop for Teams calls.
Any other FBP5 owners here? How do your thoughts compare to the video?

On a recent WAN, Linus mentioned Yvonne preferring Siri over Gemini. Don’t know if she wants this Siri lol.
Me: “play that song by Florida Georgia Line and Bebe Rhexa.”
To be fair, she got the song title right.

Discussion Random thought: Is it possible to build a "long-distance hotspot" or tunnel to share a friend's Wi-Fi remotely?
So yesterday, my mobile data completely ran out, and I had this crazy, desperate thought: What if I could somehow just connect to my friend's home Wi-Fi from my house?
Obviously, standard Wi-Fi range is just a few meters. But theoretically, is there a way to build a workaround or a "tunnel" to share actual internet bandwidth over a long distance? Almost like a remote personal hotspot.
I know VPNs can connect two local networks, and things like SSH tunneling exist, but how would you seamlessly route all your phone/laptop traffic through a friend's router miles away without massive latency?
- What would the tech stack look like if we had to build a software solution for this?
- Would it require specific hardware (like Point-to-Point antennas) if they live a few kilometers away?
Has anyone ever tried building a jugaad like this? I’m genuinely curious about the networking theory and practical application behind it. Drop your ideas!

Tech Discussion Im concerned about Floatplane v3 auth.
After looking though api calls to and from floatplane, I discovered that login passwords are passed to the server in PLAIN TEXT. Some poeple will say "oh but poeple can see network traffic via https" sure but if someone had a backdoor into the floatplane server and set up packet sniffing on the server which recieves these requests, they have full access to MILLIONS of accounts and possibly access to personal info such as paypal email details, certain info of cards etc. This also applies to compromised devices, look what happened to LTT when they got hacked.
Please please PLEASE encrypt user traffic over the internet using pub priv key auth so i dont feel like my data is at risk of being pwned.
