STEAM OS installing steam os on lego2 z2e

i installed the lastest 3.9 , no issues so far, the brightness and volume works fine, no issues with the controllers, it boots fast, drivers update automatically so i dont have to manual install them unlike windows

i was trying to embrace the windows 11 on the lego2 until it came the amd drivers update for the witcher 3 remastered... couldnt run that game without the lastest graphic card driver update , lenovo and amd support are sht they dont have the drivers available ...some games like runescape dragonwild ran like ass then i realized i havent install one of the amd drivers...
with steamos i dont have to worry on in game settings and drivers update, just turn on the game and play ...

coming from owning a steamdeck, the steamos on lego2 made my steamdeck obsolete

STEAM OS Please help me decide. I want to switch to windows. Should I try installing windows myself ? Or swap with someone who has the windows 16gb version ?

I bought this as a gift for my wife who has been playing on her Nintendo switch 1 for almost 5 years now.

And ... The ONLY game she plays is Rocket League.

I wanted to get her a handheld with a bigger screen and I got a good deal for a legion go S.

So here's the problem ... The ONLY game (rocket league) that I want to run on this is not available on steam. I did find a way around and installed the Heroic Launcher. But it's not been great. Cannot take screenshots or record gameplay and for some reason ... High ping.

I really want to get the same device on windows 11.

Now, neither of us are very good with tech. Ive seen tutorials where you can format and install windows 11 on this device. I may almost certainly lose warranty.

Or I can go to online and try to find someone selling their 16gb Go S windows 11. Unfortunately I couldn't find anyone selling a 32gb one. The store I bought from doesn't have a refund policy and will only return in case of faulty device.

Please advise.

TLDR: bought a 32gb legion Go S steam version to play rocket league. Later realised steam store doesn't have rocket league. Confused on whether to install windows or swap(downgrade) to 16Gb ram windows 11 Go S

DISCUSSION 16:10 8” is still better

Post image
172 Upvotes

I bought my legion go s used for $550. I just got an x20 because of fomo. I am trying to convince myself which one to keep. But man it’s tough.

I think I can return the x20 and get a switch 2 and still spend less than the x20 alone.

The oled is beautiful for sure. But I don’t think it warrants an $800 difference vs my LEGOS.

I think 16:10 is the best way to go for an old man who needs glasses like me.

I am going to run some game performance comparisons to decide which to keep. So far, I’ve been playing the call of duty modern warfare 4 campaign on the X 20. Installing it now on my Legion go s. To see if the performance difference is worth it.

Anybody else have this dilemma?

QUESTION Original legion go

Hello everyone, I recently got an original legion go and had a few questions hopefully someone could answer. I seen final fantasy 16 was recently steam deck verified, does this mean it can run on my legion go? Secondly I have the vita3k emulator on the device, pretty niche question but has anyone been able to get phantasy star nova or soul sacrifice to run on it without missing textures? Any help on these matters would be greatly appreciated

DISCUSSION Update on my 42 bios bricked legion go, which I took to india to fix - "Back from the digital grave and better than ever."🥳

Long story short.. my lego 1 ( bought in europe from FB market place)was bricked after 42 bios update ,too expensive to fix in europe,so I took it with me to india( was going on vacation anyway)

I took it to a well reputed repair shop in my city and was able to get it fixed in 2 days... For 50€

The repair guy told me that he had to remove the motherboard to reprogram the bios chip, l don't know if he actually did remove it, but if he did; he did an excellent job putting it back together because the device looks perfect inside.

The bios chip looks very very slightly discolored (I took pictures beforehand) like he desoldered it and put it back

Then he flashed No 35 bios and everything is working fine now , software wise and hardware wise (tdp)

Serial number shows up as INVALID, that is not a problem for me, I have a legion 5 pro laptop which I have been using for years with invalid serial number

Then installed steam os to see how it is, and it said that there is a firmware update - my stupidass thought it meant that it was a controller update and I updated, but it was a bios update 🤬

So steam updated it to No 39 bios, but since it's a stable bios there are no issues, everything is working fine

Windows home is activated, probably with my microsoft account

3-D Printed Modding I designed a dock for the legion go series of devices

After designing and sharing my eGPU and USB hub design I got to working on a new version to refine the design

In the process of this I decided to also design a variant of my personal dock to share with the community so I designed a dock and cradle for handhelds mostly referencing the legion go 2

If any of you would like to check it out I’ve added it to makerworld for all to enjoy

Also I’ve included an updated set of photos for the redesigned dock for those interested from my original post, version 3 is in the works

NEW TO LEGION GO New to windows hand-held

Post image
35 Upvotes

I have a Steam Deck I have switches
I did all the tinkering that I legally could with those.

I had to do a factory reset within 5 days of having this bad boy.
I enjoy the smooth flow across the Deck. Switching between Windows and the Deck feels enjoyable in big picture mode.
With Windows, I notice you must allow background updates, apps, and drivers to catch up—really a full day before I should have adjusted settings.
Also, many “setting up Legion Go” guides are about eight months old and may create a poor play experience.

Tldr
The handheld is dominant.
Let this device update for two to three days, honestly.
Avoid being too aggressive with tinkering.

QUESTION Casting to a TV Question

How's everyone doing?

This may be an incredibly stupid/convoluted question but hear me out...

I have a pretty OK PC that is capable of playing most newer games and I also have a Legion Go S that I use to play when I'm mostly chilling in my bed. I also have a TV...Can I use Steam Remote Play from my PC to the Legion Go S and then somehow wirelessly stream that to my TV in my bedroom to play some more demanding games and not strain the Legion Go?

I saw something about Steam Link but I wasn't sure if that would do the trick or not.

If anyone has any ideas, that would be cool. Thanks!

QUESTION Anyone Else Break Their Screen?

Post image
53 Upvotes

This is my legion go 2 z2e I just recently bought off marketplace. I’m so upset with myself. I always pride myself in the care I take with my “toys”, but this one was a true accident.

I usually use the console with my mechanism gaming pillow and leave it attached. I forgot I had detached it a couple days prior and just set it on the pillow. I grabbed the pillow and the console slipped right off about a 3 foot fall right onto our stick vac in the corner.

This thing shattered so bad it was surprising. This was even with a glass screen protector on it and I assumed when I peeled that off I would have a good screen, but lo and behold the whole thing shattered and seems really fragile at that.

My question is to anyone that has had this or something similar happen, is it worth it to go through Lenovos repair service? The oled display is out of stock on their site if I even wanted to do it myself. Any suggestions would be great!

HELP REQUEST Control Resonant on Legion Go 2 z2e

Hi, i have been using Go 2 as my main device since early this year and I had no issues with it. I am playing Control Resonant and sometimes when I fast travel the Go 2 stops at loading screen and goes unresponsive. The only solution i have found is to hold the power button for long so it shuts itself down. Anybody else having similar issue?
