Introduction

Hello Masters Builders, and welcome to the official r/lego Open Forum post. This is your opportunity to tell us what you think of r/lego, make suggestions or comments about the rules, ask open questions about the community, or share whatever else is on your mind.

Note that this post is for discussion of r/lego itself. If you have a general question about something related to Lego, make a post instead of asking here.

This month, we once again have a Megathread for the lastest wave of the Bricklink Designer Program. If any creators want to promote their entries, they may do that in the megathread. Posts about BDP outside of the megathread will be removed.

---

It's October already!

SpOOky season has begun! Or as some Lego fans like to call it, "MOCtober" is here. This is my favorite time of year to build, because it means getting out the Halloween sets and starting those pre-build plans for the Winter Village. Autumn is also a great time to attend Lego shows, so check out your local Lego Groups to see if they are participating in a Convention, Festival or Hobby Show nearby.

Let us know what's on your mind this month. What have you always wondered about? What rule do you want clarified, or changed? Do you have any suggestions you've been trying to find a chance to make? I won't promise that we will make the change(s) you want, but I will commit to explaining the reason we have the rules and policies we have.

Question I have some questions

Almost two years ago, I saw an unfinished LEGO set (presumably set 10295) next to an escalator at Banqiao Station in New Taipei City (Taiwan), but I didn’t see the person who built it. I waited a few minutes, but no one came by to finish it, so I left. Recently, while organizing my photos, I came across some pictures I took back then, and it got me thinking about a few things:

  1. Why build LEGO in a public place? Have any of you ever built LEGO in a public place? (Besides at home, I’ve only ever built at school.)

  2. What do you usually have on hand when building LEGO? (I usually bring a table and chair, but this builder had moisturizer and a few other items.)

  3. What effect does listening to music have on building LEGO? (I don’t usually listen to music, but seeing the headphones on the building instruction made me think about this.)

  4. Is that tool with the blue handle a pair of diagonal pliers? Is it used instead of a LEGO Separator?

  5. Judging by the photo, this LEGO set looks like it’s secondhand. What do you think?

Question Does anyone know of any other LEGO minifigures that consist of more lego pieces than just the standard body parts—or perhaps are made up entirely of lego pieces? (examples below)

MOC Easy Delivery Co. Truck

I haven’t even finished this game yet but I am so charmed by the art style that I had to make it out of Lego 😄

The truck is largely inspired by vl4d_r’s kei truck build on rebrickable with my own modifications and some custom stickers for the door handles and package labels.

The head is a custom element I 3D modeled, printed, and painted.

After taking these pictures I feel like the monster plant would fit better if I kept the same type of arms, legs and maybe just two eyes and no nose. What do you think?

Deals Found this yellowed White House at a thrift store for $10

I found this 2020 White House Set fully completed and built at my local thrift store for $10. About 70%-80% is yellowed and to looks like this might have been displayed near a window for quite a while.

I personally don't mind because I think $10 is a steal for an older set like this. It's also my first ever architecture set that I own in my nearly 2 decades of LEGO building.

I dusted it off the best I could and use some wipes to get ride of some gunk. What do you guys think? Does yellowing bother you or do you think the $10 justifies it?

Box Pic/Haul Never sleeping on FB marketplace again...

I rarely check for lego on my local FB marketplace but I was bored last weekend and saw that someone in my city was selling Assembly Square (still assembled, all parts & minifigs, rather dirty but that's fine) for $200. I offered $175 expecting a negotiation, but he just wanted it out and I drove over right away.

Is my plan for cleaning them crazy? I've been carefully taking it apart, and plan on soaking them in a giant storage tub of dawn soap & water, then sifting and cleaning/rinsing them further using a couple of colanders and have recruited my husband to help.

Thoughts/tips?!

MOC Lego The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air – MOC

Thumbnail

Recreating this set was a challenge, with every little detail carefully thought out. After two months of searching for the right LEGO pieces and designing my own custom stickers, it’s finally complete!

The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air has always been one of my favorite TV shows, and I’ve always dreamed of having a LEGO set based on it.

Inspired by a project submitted to LEGO Ideas, I used the original concept as a starting point to create my own version, refining and improving the design to include as many details from the show as possible.

Hope you guys enjoy this MOC!

MOC Monster Mash! 🧛‍♂️ ->

My MOC "Monster Mash" is my rendition of the monster fighters haunted house with the kitchen and green house from the scooby-doo mystery mansion! Expanded front yard to include the cemetery and tree from the creator set. Carriage is based on the stage coach from The Lone Ranger set. Fully furnished using elements from hidden side, scooby-doo, monster fighters, and more! I've included a rotating book case in the master bedroom leading to a secret room above the kitchen that nods to all those Scooby episodes I watched as a kid, hope you like it, happy spooktober! 👻

Question Enterprise-D

Post image
70 Upvotes

I’m currently building the Enterprise set. I got it when it was first released so I have the now-infamous spelling error on the sticker sheet.

Anyway, I noticed something else. In the instructions, whenever you get to a bag containing a minifigure, there’s a little fact about the character. Except, that is, for Worf! Absolutely nothing about Worf on the page. This feels like an error and I wondered if it’s been corrected in subsequent printings. Anyone bought it more recently and can confirm?

Can’t believe they would bring dishonour upon a Klingon in this way!

These are the Brottar 4 tier display cases that I got off Amazon for my boys room. I’m pretty happy with them so far. Probably need to get another soon.
