Need tips for keeping velvet worm
Hi, I reciently got my hands on my very first velvet worm! I've had it for a few days now but I stupidly put it in a terrarium with a lot, and I mean a lot of hiding spots. I haven't seen it since but have found signs of predation here and there so I assume it's out and hunting when the lights go off.
I've accepted that I won't see it much at all but I want to make sure I minimize possible ways it could die so any knowledge or experiences you may have with keeping them would be great. I'm interested in knowing about failures as well as success stories with these amazing little animals.
For context, I am not certain about the species it bellongs to but I know it's at the very least from the genus Oroperipatus. It's about a cm wide and 12 cm in length. It is living in a big terrarium with automatic sprinklers, crickets sizes T1 to T4, an abundance of isopods, a few termites and a bunch of other stuff. It is the only predator in the system. Sprinklers go off for a few seconds every hour making it be humid constantly but there are dry areas around the top of the stump and everything inbetween. I've had it set up like this for at least 2 years. There was a small water feature that I've since drained and covered with sponge as I've heard these animals are experts at drowning themselves andd um I think that's honestly it.
