December 18 Frankfurt to Strasbourg- weird route options
American tourist here. I need to travel from Frankfurt to Strasbourg the morning of December 18. Typically there is a direct ICE train for this route taking ~2 hours. However, I have been unable to find any direct tickets for this route for this date and the routes I can find are taking nearly 5 hours. Is anyone aware of construction or time table change that makes me unable to obtain route or ticket information for this date? Appreciate anyones guidance here. I want to avoid needing a car rental. Thanks in advance!

3rd party horror Allaboard.eu ignoring my cancellation request
Hello!
During last year's December promo I bought passes through allaboard.eu. Some of them. I already cancelled succesfully earlier this year by sending a mail to support@allaboard.eu. Now I would like to cancel my last passes that I can't use any more until the 11 months expire. On 11th October I wrote them like every other time my cancellation refund. No response. I wrote again on 18th October. Again no response. What can I do now?

Budget Budget advice
Hello !
Planning an inter-railing trip with my friend around a few european countries with my friend this summer and wondering if anyone had any advice to keep costs down?
I saw someone say it’s cheaper to pay for train tickets than an inter-rail pass and am wondering if that’s true also
Thanks!

Itineraries Would you skip popular cities just for a better train journey?
I keep seeing Interrail routes with the same cities: Amsterdam, Berlin, Prague, Vienna, Budapest, etc.
But honestly, I'm starting to think I'd rather visit fewer cities and spend more time on a scenic train routes through the Alps or smaller towns.
For those who've done Interrail before, was there a train journey you enjoyed more than the actual destination? I'm curious which routes are genuinely worth changing your plans for.

Itineraries Is my itinerary too ambitious?
Hi, I'm planning a rail trip for April 2027. We'd like to leave Paris for a week or maybe 10 days.
Currently what we're thinking is either:
- Amsterdam
- Koln
- Frankfurt
- Stuttgart?
- Zurich
- Back to France through Mulhouse
Or:
- Amsterdam
- Praha (night train from Eindhoven)
- Wien
- Zurich (night train)
- Back to France through Mulhouse
Or:
- Amsterdam
- Wien (night train)
- Milan and Como
- Zurich
- Back to France through Mulhouse
Ideally we'll only take IC trains and night trains.
What's the best itinerary and is it fun for a week? We kinda like to take our time.

Availability of train bookings on the Interrail app
I’d like to book my trains on the Interrail Planner app, but I still can’t see any available trains two months in advance. Do you know roughly how long before departure bookings become available on the app?
However, when I go directly to the railway companies’ websites, the trains are available.
Thanks in advance

Questions re: OBB Nightjet Florence -> Vienna
*RESOLVED*
Hello! My boyfriend and I will be travelling to Europe for the first time and we're thinking of taking the OBB Nightjet sleeper cabin from Italy Florence -> Austria Vienna.
It's a bit unclear so we're hoping someone can help with the following. For context, we will be booking together (same reservation) and will be selecting ""Comfort compartment for 2 passengers, including WC (Double)."
- The website says the sleeper cabin can have up to 3 beds and that single beds can be booked i.e., there's a chance you're sharing with someone. But I saw a few people online say that if your reservation is for 2 people and you select the ""Comfort compartment for 2 passengers, including WC (Double)" then you will not have to share with a stranger. Is this true?
- On the booking page, the system assigned us coach 432 with sleeper beds 81 and 82 (image 1) but when I click the live positions link (image 2), it shows that coach 432 is "hohe auslastung" which according to google, means high occupancy. Does this mean a single person already booked 1 of 3 beds in coach 432? There are three other sleeper bed coaches that are showing low capacity though...
Thanks in advance for the help!

Incorrect residency prior to crossing on eurostar
So ive got an interrail pass ive been using for the past few weeks and recently when i wanted to reserve the eurostar from amsterdam i noticed the residency is polish.
I live in the uk and have a settled status which is linked to my passport(also polish) if you scan it.
I’m worried as i’ve reached out to customer service who said they can’t change the residency as i’ve started my trip and i’m thinking it could be an issue at border control back into england. Especially as im not a uk citizen.
im really hoping i can get back from there on wednesday, otherwise im going to have to get trains to france and fly :/
Does anyone know how likely it is to be an issue with eurostar?
Pass residency: poland
Passport: Polish
Settled status: uk

Feedback on my 1-month Northern Europe Interrail itinerary?
Hi,
As a French solo traveler in my 20s used to fast-paced, dynamic trips, I'm currently finalizing my Interrail itinerary for Northern Europe this coming March. I have already bought my 1-Month Continuous Interrail Pass, which gives me plenty of flexibility along the way.
My journey starts from Offenburg (Germany) on a night train to kick off the adventure!
I’d love to get your feedback, tips, or experiences regarding the pacing and stops of my itinerary below. Since I like a dynamic style of travel, does this schedule look realistic for March? Are any legs too rushed, or are there places where I should adjust my stay?
Here is the plan:
Night train from Offenburg to Berlin.
Day 1: Early morning arrival in Berlin. (Night 1/4 in Berlin).
Day 2: Berlin (Night 2/4).
Day 3: Berlin (Night 3/4).
Day 4: Berlin (Night 4/4).
Day 5: Travel Berlin → Hamburg. (Night 1/2 in Hamburg).
Day 6: Hamburg (Night 2/2).
Day 7: Travel Hamburg → Copenhagen (Night 1/3 in Copenhagen).
Day 8: Copenhagen (Night 2/3).
Day 9: Copenhagen (Night 3/3).
Day 10: Travel Copenhagen → Stockholm (Night 1/4 in Stockholm).
Day 11: Stockholm (Night 2/4).
Day 12: Stockholm (Night 3/4).
Day 13: Stockholm (Night 4/4).
Day 14: Travel Stockholm → Oslo (Night 1/3 in Oslo).
Day 15: Oslo (Night 2/3).
Day 16: Oslo (Night 3/3).
Day 17: Scenic journey: Oslo → Bergen (Night 1/3 in Bergen).
Day 18: Bergen (Night 2/3).
Day 19: Bergen (Night 3/3).
Day 20: Travel Bergen → Gothenburg (Night 1/2 in Gothenburg).
Day 21: Gothenburg (Night 2/2).
Day 22: Travel Gothenburg → Copenhagen (Night in Copenhagen).
Day 23: Travel Copenhagen → Cologne (Night 1/2 in Cologne).
Day 24: Cologne (Night 2/2).
Day 25: Travel Cologne → Mainz (Night in Mainz).
Day 26: Travel Mainz → Heidelberg (Night in Heidelberg).
Day 27: Travel Heidelberg → Strasbourg.
End of the trip!
Thanks in advance for your advice and insights! 🚆✨

Obb nightjet mini cabin downgrade to 4x couchette
On 17/10/2026 for train NJ 294 from Roma Tiburtina to München hbf , my booked Mini Cabin reservation was unilaterally changed to a Shared Couchette, despite both options sharing a similar fare price.
A shared couchette is not functionally or qualitatively equivalent to a mini cabin. The substitution resulted in a severe degradation of service, comfort, and security, characterized by:
Complete lack of privacy and security for personal belongings.
Severe cabin heat and lack of independent climate/ventilation control.
Inability to sit up in the upper bunk, alongside a broken reading light and deficient hook/storage space.
Constant disruptions from shared lighting, window controls, and ambient compartment noise.
My wife and I discussed this with the other couple crammed in our couchette and found out they had the same problem. It is not comparable to the minicabin and should not happen. I attempted to reconcile with OBB but their bots get caught in circular loops that won't allow you to submit. Couple that with woefully inadequate and inconsistent wifi on the train and you are left with a hot uncomfortable angry rider. I won't be nightjetting again.

Saturday early morning in Villach? (Zürich - Trieste)
Hi
After comparing a lot of possibilities, I think I'll probably take a night train to go visit Trieste. From Basel to Zürich, the night train from Zürich to Villach, then from Villach to Trieste.
The train arrives at 05:51 in Villach on a Saturday in January, and the train to Trieste departs at 06:14, and I think there's a very high chance I cannot take this train... I should expect some delay, right?
The next train to Trieste departs at 10:41, so I think I should know what I can do in Villach. Do you think there is anything I can do? I think cafes are probably closed?

Night trains OBB Nightjet mini cabin - ticket help!!
So I thought I purchased a ticket for the mini cabin...
Admittedly I did it pretty quickly as I had tried earlier using a different card which didn't work, so I was familiar with the system and just wanted to get the ticket.
However when I got the email it says couchette, and I cannot share with others. It's the non refundable etc etc ticket.
Can anyone who has travelled Nightjet mini cabin check their email and see did it specify mini cabin??
This is what my email says:
Tickets
Couchette carriage - Sparschiene incl. Reservation
Wagon number: 443, Seat number: 33
Additional info:
- I have not downloaded the pdf.
- I emailed a contact form straight away after I received the email since it was too late to call.
- This morning I phoned OBB, the agent said he can't see the train details that far in advance so he can't confirm if it's a mini cabin, and he said to phone back in a few days or a week. I asked would they help me change to mini cabin and he said no because it's the non cancellable ticket.
- I went back in to see the booking engine again, and if I chose mini cabin I can move to the next step without further input. Even if I somehow chose couchette, it makes you choose between mixed gender or female before it lets you proceed, and although I did it quickly I am absolutely positive I did not choose any further options. And since the ticket doesn't mention female or mixed gender, I think it has to be the mini cabin?

Other Ljubljana Station - guide
As mentioned in a previous post, Ljubljana’s main station is being completely rebuilt and will be a major construction site for many more months.
I have used the station six times in the last few days and this guide is what I have learnt.
The station is open but changing in layout.
The entrance to almost every railway platform is behind the pale green building to the east of the main station (to the right as you look from the street).
If you enter directions for TirBar bar into Google Maps, that will get you to where you need to go. The entrance to platforms 5 to 13 is just round the corner from this building. There are two display screens here too, on the left for Arrivals, one on the right for Departures.
Except for Platform 14 (see below), you get to all platforms by going onto Platform 1 & 2, turn right then down to the underground passage.
Platform 14 is not in the main station but is alongside the temporary bus station.
The railway ticket office is still in the main station building (and so are the toilets…follow the signs). If you are travelling on a rail replacement bus you need to buy your railway ticket here (if not on the app).
The temporary bus station is 100m down the road east (to the right as you look at the railway station from the road). It is all open air with a line of bus parking bays down the middle.
Take care when using the pedestrian crossing here: the buses are moving around quickly.
The bus ticket office building is a square dark little building at the entrance. There are two bus information screens (again arrivals and departures) but these are not the train information screens, just the buses and coaches. There are three portacabin toilets here, usually with a queue.
Railway platform 14 runs alongside the bus station.
If you are buying a bus/ticket, the seller will probably tell you which number bay to go to.
The rail replacement buses (currently for the routes to Bled, Villach, Celje, Logatec, etc) are in the bays alongside railway platform 14. Each bus has the destination on a card in the windscreen.
The normal coaches to cities around Slovenia (and international, I think) are along the middle line of bus bays. Flixbuses are at the far end and for the airport and Bled just before that (#26). The destinations are clearly marked at each bay on a pole and on the information screens by the ticket office.
Although the temporary taxi drop off and pick up point is between the railway station and the bus station, it gets very cramped. Take great care in this area because taxi drivers can be quite assertive in claiming their entitled space on the road, on the pavement, wherever.
The station currently has no customer facilities but there are several bars and a bakery in the pale green building at the back and more cafes across the street, opposite the main railway building.
Note that there is no shelter at all if you are waiting for a bus or a taxi in the rain or the sun.
Rail replacement bus tip: if you take the rail replacement bus, it’s likely to stop at every station along the route but they do operate some faster buses. It may be much much quicker to get a coach to your destination. For example, the coach to Bled via the Airport took about 1h 20m. The rail replacement bus took us 2h and we had to then get a taxi. Your train ticket will not be valid on the coach though.

First trip to Europe in December, is 3 weeks enough for Italy, France, Switzerland and Germany?
Hey everyone, I’m planning my first trip to Europe this December and trying to figure out a rough route. I’d love to visit Italy, France, Switzerland and Germany, but I’m not sure if that’s too much for one trip.
Would 3 weeks be enough, or would you give it longer? I haven’t booked flights yet, so I can fly into one country and leave from another. Any suggestions on where to start and what order makes sense?
I’d like to do most of it by train, but I’m open to buses or a flight if it saves a lot of money or a full day of travel.
Also, how do you usually buy train and bus tickets? I’ve come across Eutrain, Trainline and Omio. Which would you recommend for a trip like this, or is it easier to book directly with each operator? Would a Eurail pass be worth looking into?
I’d rather spend a few nights in each place than change cities every day. Since it’s my first visit, I’m also happy to hear which stops you’d leave for another trip.
Any advice would be appreciated!

Italy October 30 strike - will ÖBB Railjet be affected?
Hi all, I’m travelling from Innsbruck to Bozen on 30 October and wondering whether it will impact the ÖBB/DB RJ 87 (arriving at 17:27)
I’m unsure whether an Italian strike affects an ÖBB/DB train coming from Austria. Where can I check whether these services are guaranteed? Thanks!

Other Bari to Patras advice and tips
I recently took the ferry from Bari to Patras as a foot passenger (and reverse trip) and before we went I was very anxious about where to go and how to do things. There were some semi useful bits of info here and on some Facebook groups but I wanted to share my experience and advice for anyone else who is going to take this journey and feels a bit lost.
Image 1 key:
Orange X: luggage storage for the entire ferry port. It was reasonably priced and worth doing if you are catching the outbound ferry in the evening. They shut during the afternoon but reopen at 4.30pm (though the guy was a bit late) in plenty of time to get your bags before the ferry leaves.
Blue X: There is the pedestrian entrance into the port area where the luggage storage, ticket office and ferry are. On streetview it’s all closed but it was open every time I went past and I was never challenged by staff at the gates. I had been recommended another entrance before I went and Google Maps will NOT route you through here on foot, but this is the best way to go.
Black X: Superfast ticket office, you will need to go here day of departure to show your passports and get room keys. We did it early in the day after putting our bags in luggage storage. Note, this is probably a 10-15 minute walk from the Blue X gate and staff may whistle you if you don’t walk on the paths/zebra crossings as there is frequent lorry traffic.
Pink X: This is where the Superfast ferry is docked and where you both get on and off the ferry.
Image 2:
The walk to the ferry from the ticket office is very confusing and not well signposted. But I have drawn it out. You walk right behind these crates as shown in a narrow path that can occasionally be partially blocked by bollards the lorries have knocked over, so take care with big luggage. The long white structure is one final passport check before they send you through to the ferry.
Other notes
- there is a water fountain on the way to the ferry but it is not the best one, with slow flow and warmer water. I would advise using the one near the castle in Bari Vecchia.
- when the ferry arrives back in to Bari from Patras, the foot passengers need to wait probably 20-30 minutes for all vehicles to disembark, so please account for this if you are planning to catch a train. The walk from the ferry to Bari Centrale is approximately 40 minutes.
- I would definitely recommend booking a private room if you have the budget. The public spaces are large but busy and noisy.
- the ferry has a restaurant with good food options on board as well as a cafe. The cafe is a little expensive but the restaurant is decently priced.
- in Patras, disembarking is much easier as most vehicles leave at Igoumenitsa, and they have a shuttle bus which takes you to and from the ferry port entrance rather than having to walk like in Bari. From there, a taxi will cost €10 to take you to the Patras bus station, they won’t haggle on this price or let you split a cab with other people.
